Close to restaurants and tourist attractions, @ Athens Gastekamers is the perfect place from which to explore Kimberley and surrounds. We had a very comfortable night's stay. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated, and the host was the perfect.

We were warmly greeted and shown around the Guest House. Everything was as we had expected from our booking. Everything in our room was clean and in good working condition. Excellent guest accommodation.
Positives. 1. The host is very friendly and accommodating. 2. The venue is easy to get to and the rooms are exactly as shown in the pictures. 3. The rooms are very clean and cleaned daily. 4. The place is safe. Negatives. 1. The toilet not having a door in Room 1 is not practical and is uncomfortable; you can see, hear and smell everything. 2. The hot water is also a bit of a problem; it is very difficult to get the right temperature. You spend a lot of time trying to get the right temperature; it's either too hot or too cold. 3. The family room is not practical, especially when travelling with teenagers; there is no door between the kids' room and the main bedroom. 4. Snags: a. The bathroom door in Room 5 doesn't close properly or fit. b. Showers must have doors because water splashes all over the room/bathroom. If the host can fix these small snags mentioned above, the place will be near perfect.

The rooms are beautifully furnished and the host is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, showering with a gas geyser is never practical. We were there in the summer so it wasn't too bad, but in the winter you're going to struggle as the water keeps getting cold (there are instructions which we all followed carefully but unsuccessfully). Unlike the geyser, everything is a winner. Chocolates on the bed, a nice little kitchen and lovely porch with sofas.

Not only are Louis and his team friendly and hospitable, but very helpful and accommodating from the moment we got there. Nothing for them was too much for us to do. The rooms are beautifully laid out and clean, each in its own style. The facilities exceeded my and my parents' expectations. I would recommend @Athens to anyone. I will go there again and again when I visit Kimberley.

This is a lovely old house that has been beautifully restored by Louis. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay with children or on your own. Louise has gone out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. We would go back tomorrow!

Louis was an excellent host, keeping us informed of all we needed to know. He waited for us until we arrived after 7 pm on our arrival! He put us at ease with his informative banter. The rooms were welcoming and comfortable. Everything worked. Clean and neat as a pin. No intrusive noise. . Was cold when we arrived but soon warmed with our presence with the help of the panel heater and of course the electric blanket. Wonderful, imaginative use of decor. Our car was safe with on-site undercover parking. Beautiful landscaping both on the property and the Park opposite. God willing, we will visit again.
