De Hoop Nature Reserve is about 20 km away and well worth a visit.

The accommodation was very good and the place is neat.
We had a very nice stay. The location by the river is excellent with the Trading Post, Boathouse pub and pizzeria, Grunters pub and restaurant and Malgas Hotel all less than 10 minutes away. We experienced a power outage due to lightning that knocked out power to the entire area, but with enough candles and the gas stove it was almost like we didn't even notice. Really a very nice peaceful and private place for a weekend or even a week break away from the city.

Our stay was very nice, but unfortunately, we couldn't predict the weather, which was cloudy and windy for most of our stay. So, unfortunately, we did not get to braai for fear of setting the brush alight at the back of the cottage. But we did get to relax and do some birding, which was amazing.

Amazing location. The accommodation was spotless and well-appointed. Pam was awesome and helped arrange all the extra requirements we had.
Wonderful stay, relaxing environment, amazing birdlife, a bit cold so didn't catch any fish, but amazing view of the river, gravel road long and travel slow with a small car as there are a lot of potholes especially after the rain. Accommodation is very nice with all basics needed, be prepared with enough supplies though. Would definitely return again, maybe in warmer weather.
Younger people will enjoy it more because of setting.
Beds of good quality. Very neat and clean. Space is limited, but more comfortable seating would be a plus, couch is a bit extended. Maybe consider some camping chairs that you can put on the porch to relax and enjoy the sunset!

Situated in perfect location, beautiful views even as you shower. We'll protected from wind. We enjoyed sitting on the little pier. All round a lovely comfortable cottage and I highly recommend it.
The location is perfect, clean and tidy, braai facilities and nice patio. The slipway for the boat just a little further, as the trailer has to be taken to the cottage and the road is very bad. WiFi very expensive!

If you are looking for a place where you can switch off from life and cell phone and TV, this is the place for you! The moon comes to greet you every evening silver over the water and the makou lets you tweet when it's time to light the braai fire.

It's accommodation is ideal for 2 people. The bathroom that runs directly off the one bedroom might be a problem for 4 adults.
The photos are misleading. There is a small dirt road between house and jetty. From 6 o'clock in the morning until 6 o'clock in the evening, there are builders and vehicles constantly moving back and forth and creating dust. No privacy. Stepping to jetty dangerous.
Lovely cottage, very well appointed, has everything one needs, best braai facilities I have seen and I've done plenty of camping. Loved the birds, fed them everyday, including fresh fruit and kept their bird bath full. Fishing great, some very big carp to be caught off the jetty. River ideal for kayaking. Great lapa to sit and chill half way to river. Couldn't ask for more.

The house sits in a nice quiet area and the scenery is beautiful. We got there on Friday at sunset. Found the place easily. The house is nicely furnished and did not struggle with anything. There was a nice place to tie up the boat and we enjoyed it immensely. We will go again for sure.
Cottage was clean, neat, value for money and helpful service. I would recommend traveling with a bakkie or 4x4. You don't just go stay there for a weekend, you go find yourself.

Pam and her husband were fantastic hosts. They communicated everything clearly and helped us with load-shedding times. The cottage is on a quiet stretch of the river between the pont and the pizza place. The 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom are comfortable and clean. The neighbours (mongoose, birds, and tortoise) might drop by when you are having breakfast. No TV, limited cell signal, no WIFI - so the perfect getaway to escape the frenetic energy of the city. We will definitely stay again.

We (that is my wife, our dog and myself) had an excellent stay in this well-prepared cottage. Location was great and although there is a road between the cottage and the river, the traffic during the week is very minimal. Definitely the place to get away from the busyness of a town.

We really spent a fantastically peaceful long weekend here. Beautiful view from the cottage to the river and everything you need in the neat little house. Beautifully built barbecue area and lovely covered patio - the jetty you can use for fishing or just relaxing is a bonus. Also just a few minutes drive to the Trading Post and the village of Malgas - all within easy reach. Also a thumbs up to Pam for the extra effort she made for us when we were looking for wood Thanks again.
We had an unbelievably nice time and will definitely return. The house is big enough fir a family with 2 teenagers and the braai area is comfortable even in the winter. The only problem we had was the morning we left - it rained ans we had problems towing our trailer as we did not have a 4x4. if it did not rain, it would not have been a problem. It is definitely worth the trouble to go there. The owners are very helpful and friendly.

Als was perfect. Short please just a fan for hot days and a fly patch. Couldn't find anything for sale nearby.
The house is very neat and has everything one needs to have a peaceful and comfortable time next to the Breede River. Having your own jetty and boat mooring on the river is absolutely fantastic for boat owners. You can choose to hang out at the top of the house or down by the river at the "lapa". You can even, like us, sit on your boat and visit on the water! We really enjoyed it and will definitely go back there again.

It was the most amazing weekend we've had in a long time. The view over the Breedetivier is fantastic and the fact that each house has its own jetty makes it even more special. We had a great time hanging out and fishing at the jetty. The house was clean and tidy and there is everything you need. The porch area was our hangout. I would recommend this place to anyone. The service we received from the house's owners was excellent!
We had a very relaxing stay. Nice to fish from the private jetty where we caught a lot of small salmon. Cottage has everything needed for comfort.
Everything one needs is in the cottage. Neat, clean. The only recommendation is that the stairs to the jetty could perhaps be made more comfortable. However, the swing by the water was one of the highlights.

2 Pause Cottage and Orange Garden are the ideal place to find tranquility. The cottage is neat, comfortably equipped, centrally located, for fishing at Infanta, a stone's throw from Witsand and Swellendam.
