The rooms are located in two houses (The Monument and The Cottage). They are all en-suite and are furnished in traditional Karoo / Victorian style with many antiques and original works of art on the walls. In winter the dining room is well heated from an open fireplace where guests often linger after their evening meal as well as in the cosy little pub.
In the summer our little garden is a firm favourite as is the front stoep where visitors can enjoy a refreshing drink and watch the evening display of thousands of Lesser Ketrels gliding above as the sun sets.
For the hungry we have a mouth-watering pizza menu as well as a substantial al a Carte menu to satisfy everyone. Our pizzas have received acclaim from afar and are a must if you are a pizza fan.
The little bar is where travelers will more than likely have the opportunity to meet some of the locals who often come in for a drink after work and a bite to eat and to catch up with the local village news. This often lends itself to wonderful moments of hilarity and memorable moments.
Together with our wonderful staff we will leave no stone unturned to ensure a wonderful and memorable stay with us. We all look forward to welcoming you to the historic village of Hanover and to 3 Darling Street Guest House.

Very friendly service. Cozy and very tasty food. Comfortable large bedrooms everything one needs.
We had a very nice stay. It is safe, clean and halfway to the Cape. Dave and them are very friendly and helpful. The pizzas are top notch. Will definitely stay over it again!
Great and convenient place to stay, with the option of supper on site. A good stopover en route to Cape Town. WiFi only in the bar/restaurant area.
We had a great stay at 3 Darling Street Guest House.
Very nice stay and visit, hosts very friendly and helpful.
Very nice stay with very hospitable owners and good food!
Awesome place to stay. The only issue I had was the food. They might have to work on the menu.
Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful.
Great value for money stop over, friendly and generous service. Good chats at the bar with the host, and a welcoming atmosphere. Host took extra lengths to ensure our group of two couples had space and privacy.
We were looking for a place to stop and sleep only. It was perfect for that.
I am moving to the Western Cape from Gauteng and was looking for a place halfway. What an incredibly nice stay with friendly reception and everyone looked after me very well. Not even the cold had an influence, because everything to be warm was provided. Thank you very much and will definitely stay again.
Not the best place to stay in the middle of winter, the room was bitterly cold. The supper at the restaurant was great.
Please be aware that you are paying for a room inside a house and not a separate unit, so you end up sharing a house with strangers. This was not made clear in the description. Each bedroom does have its own bathroom.
Nice spacious room, was able to relax a bit and spend the night peacefully. The host and hostess were very friendly, helpful and chatted while we waited for our pizza. The breakfast and pizza evening meal were delicious.
We had a great stay!
Very pleasant. Dave is a champion.
Good host, nice breakfast the next morning.
Dave and Heather make the stay memorable. Nice old house! Nice overnight stay, set up for load shedding. The visit in the bar is delicious and the pizza fantastic!
Just traveled through.
Lovely experience! Everything was great and it was the best midway stop to CT!
Spent 1 night while travelling to CT from Johannesburg. Arrived late afternoon and left before breakfast next day.
See stars.
The guest house is very nice and value for money. Dave was very helpful and really made us feel at home. Would recommend the guest house to anyone.
Accommodation was very nice.
We sleep over here every year and enjoy its pizzas after a long drive.
Very pleasant - in the late afternoon we walked up Trappies Koppies which was well worth the effort. Parts of the town are blighted with litter - seems the business owners and local people should tackle this to make Hanover even more pleasant.
Friendly hosts, made check-in/out a breeze. Safe parking on site. Clean and cozy room.
Situated in this little town, is a gem! Perfect stopover point.
Owners very pleasant and make an effort to make guests feel at home.
After a long trip, I am looking forward to some tranquillity. The cover photo of this guest house suggested just that. Unfortunately, what seems to be a stretched-out lawn in the photo turned out to be a dirt road. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, so much so that we got up 4 hours earlier than we planned. The shower head sprays everywhere and really should be changed. No tea bags or milk were provided, only coffee creamer. Although I will not stay over again, I will definitely stop to enjoy the pizza.
We arrived at night, during loadshedding after an extremely long day on the road. Dave was waiting for us with pizzas we had ordered from the restaurant and assisted us to settle in a lovely little room. They also provided a loadshedding lamp.
I clocked in in the evening, so with load shedding in our midst I could at least enjoy a hot shower and a good night's rest for the next day's ride.
Was a bit skeptical when I drove into town. Definitely wouldn't describe Hanover as a tourist destination. However, 3 Darling Street's facilities were very good and safe. Love the traditional "pub" that is part of the facilities. For just staying, it was perfect and very nice.
It was truly the experience we wanted as part of our move from Johannesburg and the Cape. The town still has old world charm, something that you simply cannot experience elsewhere. Thank you very much.
Owners are wonderful people and food is top notch. My only negative comment is not against the owners, but against the government. The road to the guesthouse is very bad.
We sleep over at 3 Darling Street every year. Tasty pizza as always and delicious breakfast. Rooms neat and clean.
We loved it and the owners are the best.
The rooms are clean, tidy and the owners are nice, social people. Well worth the stop. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Dave and Heather are absolutes gems, incredibly kind and hospitable. Met a few locals, everyone was very kind. Will definitely be back and will definitely refer all my friends.
Our reception was warm, and very friendly. We immediately felt at home. Our room was very neat, very clean and comfortable. The dinner was very tasty, and reasonably priced. We left there very satisfied.
Dave is friendly too.
Neat, clean and interesting decor in the guest house.
Owner and his wife go out of their way to make everyone feel at home, and help with even the strangest requests. We had a great time visiting and talking with them. Would recommend the place anytime as a halfway stop between Gauteng and Western Cape. They offer a good variety of dinners on their menu, and breakfast is typical English breakfast.
Neat and clean. Would like to see maybe a small microwave in the room.
Good place for a quick stopover traveling from JHB to CT.
Great. Dave and Heather are very friendly and made sure we were all good. Had pizza at their pub. Best pizza ever! Could eat some right now.
Rooms very neat and were suitable for an overnight stay.
The overnight room is just what is needed for an overnight stay.
Was clean and good value for money.
Felt good at home, ate delicious pizza at their restaurant.
Friendly service, breakfast was more than enough. Beds are comfortable and we had everything we needed and more. Will definitely recommend!
It was only an overnight stay, but the place is beautifully clean and the pizzas we ate at the restaurant attached to the guest house were incredibly delicious.
As before, Dave carried us on his hands.
Just want to mention that I booked room 6 but stay was in room 2 according to online room information.
Certainly one of the nicest places we have ever visited. Dan and Heather are an excellent host and hostess and they made our stay unforgettable. Good food, excellent music and a nice place to sleep! 3 Darling Street will definitely see you again!
Hospitable and rooms well equipped with everything needed. Pizzas are top notch and the boy and I had a great meal. Thank you very much for your hospitality, will definitely stop by again.
Ideal overnight accommodation between JHB and Cape Town. The silence and tranquility of the village was very welcome and in the evening we had a wonderful time and enjoyed fantastic pizzas.
Restaurant and bar is a must for every traveler for sure.
Nice, tranquil room, with all the basic amenities, good place to stop overnight, and rest.
Very quiet and peaceful overnight, nice people.
Was very nice to see Hanover and sleep over at 3 Darling Street. The pizza was great.
The room is comfortable but basic. Would have been nice to have a TV and fridge in the room. There is a shared TV available and the owners are happy to help with with keeping goods cold. The atmosphere and food in the pub make this a pleasant place to stay.
Near the restaurant. Als is neat and nice for a quick sleepover.
Home away from home.
Room clean and tidy. Friendly reception and delicious dinner with a decent breakfast. Continue like this.
Perfect place to spend the night after a long day's travel. The restaurant has delicious food and is a few steps from our room. Everything we needed. Will stay there again.
Slept well. Friendly reception.
I have to confess, it was the first time I stayed there and was shocked when I saw that I had to spend the night in Hanover, because I only saw squatters and plastic bags everywhere in the town. My son didn't want us to sleep over because it didn't look safe in town. When I stopped in front of the guest house, with the dirt road outside and lock on the door I thought the place had gone bankrupt, but when I contacted the owner he said he was there now and walked out of the house across the street. When the doors opened, so did my mouth. What a gem, old fashioned furniture everywhere and the dining area, straight out of a fairy tale. We ordered pizzas and couldn't have asked for better, excellent. The power was off, thanks to Eskom, but the lights of the staff and owner were definitely on. I ordered myself a drink and it wasn't 5 minutes later I knew everyone. My people, they make you feel so at home and we had a good time and laughed. I almost don't get away from Hanover, everyone makes you feel at home. Thanks to everyone, will definitely see me again, a diamond in the rough.
Rooms are nice and neat. The meal and pizza was top notch and we had a great visit. We could relax and regain our strength for the next day's travel.
3 Darling street Guest house was very helpful for overnight accommodation. People received us outside and were very friendly. We were at home right away. Also ate there and the food and company were lovely. Thank you very much. Will definitely stop there again.
What a pleasant experience to be able to spend the night in Hanover again. The staff at 3 Darling street were hospitable, the food was great. Room clean and tidy.
We were warmly welcomed by Dave, who soon made us feel at home. The accommodation has everything needed and the restaurant serves delicious meals.
Well equipped accommodation with all necessary facilities. The guest house is full of character, the ideal place to spend the night in a peaceful environment. The restaurant and pub across the street is very cozy with a lovely log fire and tasty food. I can recommend 3 Darling Street with confidence.
On the spur of the moment we decided to sleep at 3 Darling Street during a trip from Johannesburg to Cape Town on July 14. The booking was faultless as well as the accommodation and fantastic meal. The room was clean and tidy. The host and hostess were like old friends. We will go back again and again.
Guest house is neat and comfortable, delicious pizzas available across the street.
Neat clean rooms. Friendly personal service. Delicious pizza.
Lovely for a quick night's sleep after a long journey. Friendly and hospitable reception with a delicious pizza dinner.
3 Darling Street Guest House is a spacious and very neat place, but has no kitchen facilities such as a basin and fridge.
No fresh milk in room. Cheap bags of coffee (Ricoffy bags and Cremora). Extremely disappointed. No bath products. Only a bar of soap. Small towels.
Darling Street 3 Guesthouse was very special to me. We had never been to Hanover before and we were pleasantly surprised with the town and its history. The guest house was clean, tidy and very comfortable with the rooms having their own bathrooms. The people were very pleasant and breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you very much.
We were warmly welcomed like old familiar friends even though it was the first time we slept there. The rooms are very spacious, were spotlessly clean and really very comfortably furnished. All our friends recommended that we eat their pizza, but instead decided on a T-Bone and Ladies steak which was definitely the right choice! It was definitely the best, super tender meat we have ever eaten in a restaurant.
Value for money, the restaurant makes it a great stopover, because you can order pizza in the evening and have breakfast early tomorrow morning for nothing more than what bed and breakfasts charge at other places in Hover.
Surprisingly pleasant stay in such a dusty but nice peaceful town. Received and treated very kindly and ate very well too!
Thank you so much Dave and Heather! Rooms are very neat, food is excellent and an overnight stop becomes quite an experience. You make the road feel much shorter.
Once again just stunning. The owners are real genuine people. Go out of their way to make it very pleasant and provide excellent service.
We had a great stay at 3 Darling Street Guest House! The room was very comfortable, loved the old wooden floors and the historic feel of the house and town as a whole. Dave was also very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend this as a rest stop for people driving down to the Cape.
I was passing through from JHB on my way back home to Stellenbosch. The perfect halfway stop-over. I was welcomed as an old friend which made me feel instantly at home. The rooms was perfect and the electrical blankets was welcome. I opted for a night cap and one of their world renown pizzas at the bar across the road and I was pleasantly surprised. Truly the best pizza I have ever tasted. I will recommend 3 Darling Street Guest House to everyone!
I cannot find anything wrong with the accommodation, facilities, room or parking. I was, however, disappointed, seeing as I expected to get something for dinner ( the famous pizza and something to drink as shown on the website and in the reviews). It doesn't say anywhere that the food is not available on Sunday evenings. The owner told us to try the hotel or the truck stops. The hotel kitchen was already closed at 19:00. We got something to eat at the truck stop. We didn't eat breakfast, because be left to early.
Eat well and hang out.
Probably one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. The friendliest people ever. Felt like I came to family. Made new friends.
What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful old room, clean bedding and hot water, just what you need after a long day on the road. Great time with Dave and Heather, salt of the earth people. The pizza was delicious.
Room was clean and neat. Bathroom and shower were a blessing. Delicious pizza.
Stopped overnight on 27/12/16 and 03/01/17 and was accommodated in a different room with each stay over. On both occasions the rooms were clean and tidy. Was impressed with the fact that towels were provided. Dave very friendly and readily available. Thank you.
Had a great stay! Dave and Heather are lovely and friendly. Delicious pizzas!
The most beautiful village/quiet.
After an 8 hour drive, you expect at the very least a comfortable and proper bed. The mattresses in our room were so old that the springs stuck in your back when sleeping on it. Overall the accommodation is very very old with very little maintenance. In the future I'd rather drive 70/100 km further an pay R100 more per night, so that I can at least get a proper night's sleep and a shower.
Only stayed one night and will definitely do so again. We arrived early and the owners were very kind and our room was available. The room was neat and clean. Dave and Heather are truly two very pleasant people. So hospitable. The pub and restaurant that are part of the guesthouse is a big bonus. We had such a nice meal. Will recommend it to anyone!
Very friendly and hospitable. Delicious food.
3 Darling Street Guest House is clean and conveniently located. It also has a restaurant attached to the guesthouse which is an added bonus. If I am crazy enough to drive to Cape Town again I will definitely choose this place again.
Dave and Heather go out of their way to make you feel welcome and their customer service is great.
The television set had been stolen from the guest house when we went to Dot's Shop. Literally plucked from the wall with assembly and all. This leaves one uncomfortable with the security issue. CCTV? Other options? There is also no fridge available.
We arrived just after 4, but nobody was there, and no one answered the phone. When we asked for a refund, we were informed that it wasn't possible to refund our deposit as they couldn't resell the room. Very disappointing.
This is the second time I have spent the night here between Cape Town and Johannesburg. The service is excellent and the guest house very comfortable. Rooms neat and well furnished. I highly recommend 3 Darling Street Guest House.
3 Darling Street Guest House is rich with history and very well maintained. The people are friendly and the service is very good. We enjoyed it very much!
The reception was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious and more than enough.
If we compare it to what we got at all the other guesthouses on our 14 day holiday, there is no comparison. We asked for a queen size bed and got a regular double bed. Everything is connected to one power plug, one plugged into the other, there is not a "multiplug" with switches for everything, in my opinion very dangerous! There was a warm blanket, but there was no place to connect one half of this blanket to the power. The security gate in front of the outer door was lame and shaky. Around the taps are tackles - very unpleasant. The shower is about 30 cm or more above the ground surface, if you are not so young anymore, it is difficult to get into the shower cubicle. There was a TV in the common lounge but it wasn't tuned! The owner didn't know how to do it. We really wanted to watch an insert from a family member on SABC 2 that evening! The doors rattled and flapped in the wind - this made "restful" sleep impossible.
Owner is very friendly, but unfortunately cannot compensate for the state of neglect. Everything is neglected. At least the food was good.
Everything you need is there. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the food is top notch. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast.
Where does one begin to describe something so delicious and precious! Visit Hanover. There is no reason to wait until you travel to or from the Cape. The "pub" is something to experience and you haven't tasted pizza until you've tried a "sheep farmer special"! It's an experience - many, many thanks for the gem and that I could be a part of it!
We were welcomed with kindness. The hospitality was top notch. Would recommend 3 Darling Street anytime.
We only slept over.
Recommended for anyone who is hungry and tired.
Very nice. Friendly host. Will stay there again one day.
Was very nice to walk through the streets, visit the hotel, as well as the church. Climbing the hill was also a highlight. Glad we didn't just drive by again.
Was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness. Otherwise room was comfortable and had the necessary. Breakfast was nice, sorry I missed the pizza restaurant, it sounded quite nice.
Only downside was that there was only a bath in the room and no shower.
I will not use it again.
The old house is very beautiful, but needs a lot of attention. There are small things that need to be done to ensure that one will stay there again. The host and hostess are very friendly and the food very tasty.
We had a comfortable stay in the beautiful town of Hanover. The guest house has a lot of character and the rooms are well furnished.
Friendly reception! Delicious pizzas. Cozy place to visit! Nice warm sleep. A must stop.
Comfortable accommodation, good food, and friendly service.
Would like a small fridge in room to keep cold drinks/road food cold. The pizza at the restaurant was very tasty!
Only a warm duvet without a top sheet in the Karoo in December? No DStv?
