My meeting with Bessie, owner, was warm and friendly. The owner cares about her place and guests and the place's cleanliness makes an immediate impression. The location is excellent, quiet and walking distance to places to eat. I can recommend the place with great confidence.
The accommodation consists of three rooms in an old house which has been set up for self-catering. We were the only guests in room/unit 1. The facilities suited us for a two night stay. The hostess was absent, but Barbara, who stood in for her, received us kindly. The parking is behind the house, but the gate cannot close. It is necessary to park the car in front of the premises in the street to pick up or drop off.
The host was an amazing, helpful person. The place was beautiful and this is an awesome little town. These things combined made for an enjoyable stay.
Travelled to Swellendam for work. The accommodation was everything I needed, including a nice table to do some work, within walking distance from a variety of restaurants and hiking trails to explore nature and blow off some steam after work. The host was friendly.

I only stayed overnight, but will definitely go back for a longer visit. Bessie made me feel so welcome, and let me choose which unit I wanted. I was so glad I chose the front unit because in the morning I woke up to the water running in the drains. A big plus is the fact that the lights and WiFi stay on, even if there is load shedding. So even though I couldn't watch movies, I enjoyed reading. The environment is so peaceful. Very nice area to walk or cycle in. The unit is equipped with everything one might need. And there is the most delicious biscuit to enjoy with the coffee. I highly recommend 33 Berg Self-catering.

We were received by Bessie and informed about the place to stay, She was friendly and helpful. This was during the load shedding period and provision had been made to minimize the inconvenience of load shedding. The room was very comfortably furnished and everything was clean and tidy. The staircase is a bit sloppy, but did not detract from our stay in any way. The area is very safe and quiet. The secure parking area is also handy. Bessie's rusk was very tasty! I would recommend 33 Berg anytime.
33 Berg is tastefully furnished, comfortable, spotlessly clean and Bessie is a wonderful hostess. She offered to adapt our accommodation at no extra cost at the last minute and took every precaution to meet Eskom's power outages with the minimum of inconvenience. 33 Berg was ideally located halfway between George and Cape Town so that my son and I could meet there while exploring Swellendam and the surrounding area. Our room was cozy and warm against the winter cold and we could take a refreshing walk in the evening to all the best restaurants. Very nice stay.
We are already thinking about staying a little longer next time so that we can see and experience more of Swellendam. Our hostess Bessie received us kindly and made us feel at home. She recommended places to eat and they are also within walking distance. The room is one of three in a house that has a lot of character with wooden floors and a porch where I want to sit and visit next time I enjoy the tranquility. The room we stayed in overlooked the neighbours' back door. So no view. You also can't really sit on the stoep, it was too cold and it's directly on the street.

I didn't know I was booking the attic room, which is unbearably hot at night, and unsuitable for a summer stay. I would rather recommend the other cooler downstairs rooms.

Although I have given this accommodation high ratings, it is not very accessible. Have to walk into dark area to gain access to the room. We felt very unsafe and no provision is made for the elderly. Once the entrance gate was closed we had to walk around the establishment after parking our car. This was very frustrating. It does not help to have secure parking for your vehicle, but you still have to walk in the dark to your room, or invade the owners privacy and walk through the main house.
