As usual, Danel is a great host and made me a nice pot of coffee even though I arrived late. The next morning, I had to leave early for a meeting and the friendly staff made an effort to prepare breakfast for me before I left. This is my go-to accommodation when I am in Menlyn for business.

Love this place. Danel and husband are always so inclined to stay up late if you fly in late. The woof children are friendly and also come to say hello quickly. This time I am disappointed because the room was dirty. No other way to say. Linen etc. was very clean and smelled good. Floors were dirty, windowsills you could see hadn't been dusted in months. I had to boil the kettle 3 times to finally get clean water. The TV's power did not work. I had to run a lead from the bottom plug up the wall. The dust lay thick on the micro. There was no coffee. Just a very old plastic bag with tea and sugar in it. No milk even for a morning coffee. There was a man who first tried to unlock my room and then realized there was a key inside. 10 minutes later he was back and just tried to open the door. I asked him what he was looking for. Then he just walked away. Thank goodness the door was locked. Because I just got out of the shower. I really love the place. Been there before. But I really hope the cleanliness will be addressed.
We prefer extremely clean facilities. The facilities were not of an acceptable standard in our opinion.
We booked a room and were referred to another one.
The area seemed safe and is not far from most places in Pretoria. The house is beautiful and we were given breakfast despite the loadshedding going on that morning. The owner asked me about my stay before I left.
We visited so many places, within a radius of 10 km, took many photos, and waited on the porch every evening, with a glass, for more information from Johan and Danel about the area and what else we should find there . Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Delicious breakfast every day, and a peaceful nap after a hot shower. Definitely worth a visit and visit, many thanks also to the staff.

We had to check in before 14:00 due to a function starting at 13:00. Danel received us warmly even though rooms were not ready yet. We left luggage with her and when we came back in the evening after function everything was ready and luggage in rooms. Thank you very much for that. That's why I always use the guest house. Dear people. Well done.

We have stayed several times at Danèl and Johan's guest house, 40 on Ilkey B&B and every time it is delicious! We are warmly welcomed, our room is clean and it is so peaceful! Then after a good night's rest we enjoy a delicious breakfast thanks to Albert or Mettie. Thank you Danèl and staff who really make everything so comfortable for us even though we are in Pretoria to share with difficult circumstances. We really feel at home.
I just want to mention that upon arrival everything was beautiful and incredibly safe, the owner of the place welcomed me and my boyfriend with open arms, we also had a terribly nice breakfast the next morning, so thank you very much for this nice visit together with you, we will surely make a visit again.
Danèl, our hostess made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable. Have a nice shower! The breakfast was top notch! We will definitely stay again because it's nice and central. WiFi reception was very erratic and weak but this could also be due to the load shedding.

We were kindly received at llkey B&B by the hostess. Enjoy a delicious breakfast. However, attention will have to be paid to the interior of the room. Definitely not quite up to standard. Curtains are not neat and there are stains on furniture. Panels on floor were loose and no screen on the light. Slept well though. If attention is paid to certain aspects, the accommodation will definitely be a winner.

Unit is neat and clean but the ceiling fan is out of balance so it makes noise all night and then maybe they should put something in front of the bathroom window so that you don't wake up from the light coming through it. Breakfast would be much better if served hot, otherwise it was comfortable. They might just put the fruit and yogurt out on the tables too early. Maybe more variety of juice, not everyone likes coco pine.

Had a lovely relaxing few days at 40 on Ilkey while my wife and I attended the SA 0/16 cricket week. We really appreciated the stay and reception and hospitality. The rooms are very neat and clean and the bed fantastic. Breakfast was very nice and more than enough. The friendly homely atmosphere will definitely make us go again. You feel very safe and the fact that you have a remote control with your key gives you the independence to come and go until late at night without inconveniencing people. My colleague and I were terrified of the city traffic and from the moment we arrived at 40 on Ilkey, it felt like we were visiting family. It was peaceful, lovely and Danél is a wonderful hostess. We had a great chat and she inspired us to start again with our crafts and creativity. A wonderful experience! I will definitely visit there again!

I called and he responded immediately. We felt safe in that area because there was security at each entrance. Very close to Menlyn shopping centre and Sun Arena. We will definitely visit again.

We were traveling from Louis Trichardt, had to attend a show that evening and wanted to get ready. Unfortunately our rooms were not ready and we had to wait almost an hour for our rooms (we got there at 4 in the afternoon). The owner was very friendly and offered us a drink while we waited - it was still a little disturbing though. The bath in one room was never cleaned and could not be used. The rest of the stay was very good, also the breakfast. The accommodation can definitely be recommended if the snags are resolved.

All people at this guesthouse were friendly, from the owners to the staff. Even the security guard was helpful and directed me to the location. Breakfast is good, and served in a cosy breakfast area.

40 on Ilkey is a fantastic place to be staying at whether on a business or leisure trip. It's quiet, peaceful and very homey. The service was superb, I was treated with such kindness. It's situated at an ideal location, being 5min away from Menlyn park shopping mall. Certainly to be recommended.
