We arrived much later than planned and Johan suggested a restaurant across the street that was still open. He phoned them to say that we would be there shortly. Everything that you need for a perfect stay is there. We will definitely go back again.
The house and room are very tastefully furnished and everything we craved after a long drive was available. Decent wine glasses, milk in a carafe in the fridge, coffee in a flask (not a tear open bag). Special washcloths in the bathroom for make-up. Shampoo and body wash from the store, not the usual ones you get in guest houses. Winter bedding and a top class mattress! The house is almost right next to the Swartberg Hotel and very centrally located. Secure parking. I cannot rave about this gem. We will for sure stay there every time we tour beautiful Prince Albert.

Perfectly located and spotlessly clean. The host was very helpful in recommending places to eat, which were outstanding. Following recent heavy rains, we needed guidance on the state of the Swartberg Pass and roads in the area, which the host went out of their way to enquire about. As we were short of time, this was invaluable in planning our trip.
We enjoyed our stay and the accommodation was top-class.

We booked rooms which we were under the impression were facing a pool and lovely courtyard. We were given a room facing the street. No pool and no courtyard and had to park our car in the street.

The guesthouse is well located, very neat, beautiful pool, our room was spacious, enough privacy, breakfast was delicious and is served indoors or outside. Hostess is very helpful with any requests, was a great 3 days, we enjoyed it a lot.

Mai, the owner is an excellent host and made us feel very welcome. On the morning of our arrival she started sending messages, telling us to drive safely and also offered to make dinner reservations at one of the restaurants in the area. Our room included breakfast, which Mai supervises personally. From the personally curled butter (no plastic tubs) to the last bite everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. I would refer Mai's Guest Lodge with an open heart to anybody.

With the warm reception and the friendly hostess, we immediately felt at home. The house was a cool refreshment after we experienced extreme heat of 41 degrees on the road. Everything was neat and clean, and the bedding very fresh. The location was perfect to walk through the town to see everything. Mai's Guest Lodge is also right next to, what it looks like, the best restaurant in Prince Albert. The breakfast was also excellent and really a quiet atmosphere outside in the garden. Prince Albert and Mai will definitely see us again.

From the overwhelmingly warm welcome upon entering to the last 'cow bay', we felt like we were visiting our favorite aunt. Mai immediately made us feel welcome and at home. The breakfast every morning was not only top notch, but we felt privileged to be able to enjoy it under the grape arbor. The rooms are very well equipped, tidy and the bedding was lovely to sleep in - our room has a lovely shower. Even though it was terribly hot in Prince Albert, Mai's house was always wonderfully cool, even with the windows open - don't know how she manages it. Mai's laugh is infectious and is always ready with a good story and ready to hear one. So I can go on and on. What a great vacation at Mai's Guest Lodge... even if it was only two days!
Stunning house built in 1835, but with good amenities and spacious rooms. Delicious breakfast and no one leaves the table hungry. Parking available in main road in front of the house. Old Karoo town feeling surrounds you when you walk through the streets.
Auntie Mai went out of her way to make sure we had the best stay possible. Without being pushy she maintained contact. Personal attention to ensure that the breakfast order was on the numbers and all expectations were exceeded. The unit was spacious, clean and tastefully laid out. The central air conditioning keeps the hot summer days at bay. The veranda is perfect for morning coffee and the courtyard where breakfast is served is something very special. Prince Albert has many other places to stay that look fantastic, but Mai's is where we will stay again next time.
