The guest house is excellently located for sports and other activities. Rooms are extremely neat and cleaned every day, even the floors are mopped. There is a lovely garden with swimming pool. We felt very safe and slept great. Just note there is only Netflix and not DStv, but that wasn't a problem for us. Will highly recommend the guest house and will not look for another place in Mbombela again.
Just have to look at small things though. A/C remote, batteries dead and light with fan, light could not turn off and work with fan alone.
The facilities are excellent and I would definitely recommend them. We only stay with Ehmke when we are in Nelspruit.

85 Ehmke is a beautiful guest house with the most beautiful gardens, and welcoming lapa with extra facilities such as a microwave. We simply booked the "budget" room which was perfectly adequate for just an overnight stay, and even the room had air conditioning. The light from the lapa shining all night through the glass panel at the front door was quite something to get used to. The photo of the unit shows a blind in front of the glass panel, but it was not there when we visited. Other than that I would definitely stay here again - a really beautiful guest house.

Standard-what one normally finds in guesthouses is absent. No kitchen facilities, microwave, cutlery, comfortable chairs and coffee table (enough space for it), DStv (Netflix only). Had to get our camping chairs out of the car and eat our food cold with our fingers. Not as desired at all.

Except for the traffic, the room we stayed in was right by the geyser. Every time someone turns on the hot water, it sounds like the person is in our room. Didn't sleep well!

The room we stayed in was very clean and up to standard. We had a one night stay as we were running the Uniwisp the next morning. The only point we feel we need to mention is that every time one of the other rooms used hot water it would make a huge noise in our room as I think the water was heated via gas. This kept us awake with the water heaters going on and off all the time.

A nice layout, can recommend it.
The driver is not very friendly. Call only to hear what time you clock in and ask for overpayment immediately. Address admin lady in front of guests on the phone about a pencil that needs sharpening. Give instructions of keys etc. very tight Cleaning staff make terrible noise in the morning when you are still sleeping. Overall it is neat and clean, but for these reasons I would not recommend it.

The rooms were clean, spacious and tidy and the beds were comfortable with good linen. The premises and pool area are beautiful and well maintained. Everything we needed for a night's sleep was there, it's been a long time since we found a guest house that has a mirror and wall plug together to blow hair.

It was an extremely hot evening which meant we had to leave the sliding door open and lock the Trellidor as we prefer not to sleep with an aircon on (there were no windows in the room). The traffic on main road nearby was quite noisy but settled down later in the evening. A kitchenette with a sink and microwave would be useful.
Thanks a lot for a pleasant time. Your service was upstanding and friendly. The self-catering facilities made our stay very comfortable. Unit 6 is very cute. I just suggest that you replace the two-plate oven very quickly.

The gas geyser only worked the first night and the next morning the water was ice cold. Very beautiful gardens and view. Nice and quiet apart from neighbors who were playing loud music at 5:45 but very good value for money.
The advertisement of 85 Ehmke is misleading. Room 5B is advertised as a complete self-catering unit. The photo's on the website show a spacious room and niche kitchen. In reality it was a small room with two beds and shower and toilet. For self-catering only a kettle and cups. The owner explained to us that it was not self-catering and for dinner and breakfast we were advised to travel to town. The transfer of the full payment for which the bank was supposed to send an extra SMS, was not known to the owner. Luckily I had the proof of payment handy. I would say I was not impressed by the reception.

For us it was like sleeping in a motel, the room was clean. But no chairs inside our outside, we missed that. We have no private place to sit, only on a wall.

This is a place to come back to, because it is a very special feeling to stay there, very quiet, safe and just in front of a natural reserve.

When you stop in font of this guesthouse, you get the impression that a bit of "TLC" is needed. The house is situated in a suburb that was once quite upscale. Yet when you enter the self-catering unit you feel a calmness descend upon you. The staff is friendly. However it would be a bonus if darker- or "blackout" curtains could be hung. Because of the lights outside, which shine through the night, the room is not dark enough which can rob one of a good night's rest. The room is very spacious and the interior is simple, but neat.

At 02:30 in the morning we had to ask the permanent, young staff to quiet down so we could sleep.
Sixth sense compelled me to choose 85 Ehmke among all the other places to stay. And what a surprise it wasn't. Spacious, tidy, quiet, easily accessible and alla world the 'leaky sleep' was the best part of it all. No problem with too little hot water. There they use gas geysers. The outdoor facilities are top notch.
