Everything as advertised and as we expected it to be. Will book again in future. Nicely geared for winter and summer weather.
We had a beautiful weekend. Staff is friendly and so helpful. It felt like we were in a hotel, you get fresh towels in the morning and they come to tidy up.

The unit was beautiful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The fireplace and electric blanket kept the winter cold at bay and the comfortable bed was great for sleeping. Many thanks to the friendly hostess who made an effort to help us with accommodation at the last minute. I would definitely recommend A Hilltop.
Nice rest, got a bag of wood for braai, clean towels every day, as well as swimming towels, nice coffee and biscuits.
Our second time staying here with our now 2-year-old. This time we had one of the family rooms and it worked out perfectly. A very nice surprise since the last time we were here is that they have solar power. So when load shedding strikes, you still have Wi-Fi and TV and can even charge your phone.
The cottage is very well laid out with everything you need. There is enough space for a small family and the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful.

Wonderfully clean, friendly and great swimming pools. A positive criticism is to replace the taps in the shower with mixers. The Copper taps are difficult to open, close and control, especially for my wife who has an injured hand. Thank you.
We rented the 2 and 3 bedroom cottages as a larger family and had a great time and all the facilities were excellent.
We fell in love with the view and tranquility of Swellendam as a whole. The establishment is very well maintained and is beautiful, the view over the mountains is breathtaking. We will definitely be slightly expensive, but none the less had a great time.
Parking a bit of a problem for larger vehicles. The price should be cheaper because it does not include breakfast.

Neat and clean, but customer's needs are not taken care of. The room I booked was suddenly unavailable. The government group booking got priority. The small cozy room that I specifically chose to lie on the bed and watch TV with the fireplace I was not contacted or asked if I would be interested in the 4-room unit with stairs. I would rather have canceled my booking. I did not get what I booked or paid for.

My husband and I first booked another place in Swellendam on our honeymoon, but it was so dirty and unpleasant there that we checked out after the first night. I then booked with A Hilltop early in the morning and let them know of our predicament, and they were fantastic! We were able to check in earlier and there was even a flower heart on our bed! To me this place is absolute value for money. It is safe with a view of Swellendam and the mountain. The room is big and impeccably clean and equipped for self-catering. Nice and far away from the main street's noise, but close enough to get to all of the restaurants.

We got a free 'upgrade' and stayed in the big family house, which was amazing after a long day on the road. The environment is very quiet and the free sherry and wifi made us feel like we were really appreciated. They give more than they ask.
As the name indicate, it really is a "retreat". Exceeded our expectations - reasably priced, very neat and we should definitely mention Lana and Jane's friendly service. We will definitely be back!
We had a very nice time at A Hilltop! We stayed two months and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. Everything was so clean and neat and reception was warm and friendly. No issues at all.

The room is large and comfortable. Bed and bedding was excellent. Kitchenette was not really up to the same high standard. Under-worktop cupboard does not give a very hygienic appearance. Cutlery a hotch-potch variety. The selfhelp bar-fridge, welcoming sherry and rusks for breakfast were all appreciated. The bathroom lighting leaves much to be desired! Shower may be modern minimalistic (clinker brick dividing wall, epoxy-coated plaster floor, no shower curtain), but one does "involuntarily curl up one's toes!" Unfortunately, the French couple in the adjacent room had a late night. With this sort of layout, it is however unavoidable and actually is to be expected when a guesthouse offers multiple rooms. My unit did not have a fireplace, but it was not really required.

The receptionist received us very kindly even though it was already after 20:00 in the evening. She gave us a map with all attractions in Swellendam. She recommended us some restaurants, gave us the menus to read and decide where we wanted to eat. And when we had decided, she also made another reservation for us. The rooms are clean and very tidy. The bathrooms were also very clean and tidy. The environment where it is located is very beautiful and the views must be experienced. You just feel at home when you spend the night there. We would definitely recommend it to anyone and we would also definitely make a reservation there again if we go to the Cape again from the Netherlands.
