The rooms are open plan with an en-suite shower, toilet, and basin, and can accommodate wheelchairs. The first 5 rooms are furnished with double beds while the other 4 rooms contain twin beds. Each room can accommodate up to 2 guests. Extra guests, normally children, will be accommodated on a separate mattress.
There are 4 separate guest toilets and 1 separate bathroom for small children only, and 4 kitchens. Please note that a kitchen will be allocated to each group booked. If a kitchen is not available, a coffee station kitchenette will be allocated. Kindly enquire regarding availability. Pots, pans, utensils, breadboards, bottle openers, a microwave, fridge, kettle, 2-plate stove, cutlery, crockery, and glasses are provided in the 3 smaller kitchens. In the big kitchen, you will find all the above plus a huge 8-plate, 2-oven stove. There are 2 separate, communal dining rooms and 2 separate, communal lounges.
Please note the self-catering guest house is 9 km away from the nearest town, Parys. This is fly-fishing territory, with the mighty Vaal coursing through the 54-hectare establishment. 167 guests' feedbackWe had a truly pleasant experience, just what we needed for our stopover to our next destination. Has everything you need and also a nice and friendly host.
It was wow and amazing.
See stars.
Jacques is a friendly and accommodating host. The venue is clean and super interesting to walk through with the antique collection of furniture.
Was a lovely experience. Very quiet and peaceful getaway. Jacques is a wonderful host.
Had a great stay and the place was very clean.
We were welcomed by Jacques and assisted in settling in, and made familiar with the facilities.
Hi guys, we had such a good time and enjoyed it so much.
The host was very friendly and accommodating.
The sight is refreshing and beautiful.
Jacques was a great host. We enjoyed him immensely. The house is beautifully furnished and every piece of furniture has a story. We slept great, everything is clean and tidy. The Vaal River is 1 km from the place of residence, and is beautiful there by the water. Bunch of birds photographed (some of us are bird lovers). I would really recommend the place if you want some rest and don't want to be in town.
Rural hospitality at its best. Jacques was extremely accommodating and made us feel welcome and the stay on the guest farm made us feel relaxed and rested.
Quiet, neat and clean. Water always available. Fresh farm air and friendly owner.
No signs on struggle to find a place.
Jacques had sent directions before we arrived. The place is beautiful, setting, the antique decor. The room was spacious and the kitchen is well stocked with all utensils.
It was magical, we loved the furniture (antique style). Like a boutique gem on a farm. The host Jacques was very accommodating. Made sure that all was in order prior to our arrival. Went out of his way to decorate my aunt's room at my request, just over a phone call. We really enjoyed our stay here, pity we didn't have much time. The place was always clean and neat. The garden is well-taken care of, looking amazingly beautiful.
I could rest well in the peaceful atmosphere. Jacques went out of his way to make me feel at home. Highly recommendable.
We will use the accommodation again.
Lovely, peaceful farm atmosphere with the most beautiful antique furniture. A feast for the eyes. Neat gardens and house. Thank you.
Jacques' excellent hospitality and customer service from staff must be commended. Fishing was difficult with the strong flow of the river and the current water level but still very enjoyable. Tip for the anglers: Don't pack your 13ft long rod, short 6-8ft rods with strong line for those big catfish.
Jacques is absolutely a host 1000 and makes you feel like family! It was absolutely delicious!
Far from town (Parys).
Enjoyed our stay. Very friendly.
Friendly staff. Cleanliness. Beautiful surroundings. Not far from Parys.
Will visit again. Very clean and safe. Perfect if you just want to sleep over one day when touring.
If you're looking for a simple, clean and neat place to sleep, this will fit the bill. Not a great place to spend a lot of time hanging out, but that wasn't my plan anyway. I came for a school reunion in Parys and this accommodation suited me as I was just there in the evenings and the occasional time in the afternoon. The entrance road is a rocky farm road, so if you have a small car then drive slowly and carefully. Nice undercover parking, but there did not seem to be sufficient parking for all of the guests. They've made a large effort on the decorations in the passage and communal areas while the rooms are fairly basic (as I needed). The showers needed more pressure and the shower head was not the greatest, but it did the job. Which pretty much sums it up: neat, clean, and does the job.
The room set up unhealthy. Toilet separated by curtain. Dressing mirror in toilet near shower.
Money spent on holidays is hard-earned, one expects to be able to relax and find comfortable accommodation. This place sucks.
It's very neat, even if it's not the place for me. The toilet right next to the bed is separated with a curtain. Type of dormitory setting within a large house. Rather a guest room than a guest house.
Our reception was friendly. The separate kitchen was nice - we just ate our road food there before bed. Slept well in the silence.
The guest house is in a very peaceful location and not far from Paris. We enjoyed it very much.
Relaxing atmosphere.
A very clean, quiet place with nice mountain views. It was really fantastic taking a walk to the banks of the Vaal River, so refreshing. Really nice for a self-catering venue almost everything we needed for our braai and the potjiekos was there and the manager was really of great assistance.
The facilities are very basic but clean and tidy and provide an overnight stop for speedy travelers.
Very quiet place, tranquil, fresh and smell of nature.
We were quickly helped and shown to our room. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Slept very well. Would definitely want to stay there again.
Friendly country hospitality in a large guest house with antique furniture and beautiful paintings. Each room has its own, personal kitchenette where you can cater for meals yourself in a self-catering unit atmosphere with an outdoor barbecue area. Farm atmosphere with sheep and horses and a short walk to the river. Spent a pleasant few days there.
Jacques immediately made us feel at home. Lovely, classy accommodation. Ideal for a few days' break to get back to peace. Very affordable at a time when everyone has to turn over their pennies. Highly recommended.
The host is an awesome person, always full of jokes, a very humble person.
A Mountain View Country Estate looked after me from the time I booked until I drove away after a two night stay. Jacques is a good host who knows how to take care of visitors.
I had a pleasant experience during my two nights at this place. The quiet farm life, well-equipped rooms with available kitchens just across the hallway are exactly what I prefer.
From the moment we pulled up there it was absolutely fantastic. Jacques was friendly and helpful and made us feel very much at home. The facilities were of high quality, neat and clean. If you are tired of the city's hustle and bustle, this is the right place to recharge the batteries. Thank you very much for an incredibly peaceful evening.
Jacque was a star, very helpful, but that place in Paris, it's a place we recommend, spend time by the river, there you can find yourself again, it's so peaceful. Thank you very much for an awesome time. Will come again for a weekend or longer in the future.
Jacques was very friendly and helpful and he made us feel very at home. Amenities were very neat and clean. We really enjoyed it and will visit the guesthouse again in the future. Rates were also very reasonable.
The host was very friendly and helpful. We were attending a wedding nearby and needed an overnight place to stay. It is very peaceful and I loved the old furniture. It brought back memories of my grandma's house. The road and outside need a little care but the stay was very good.
Thanks for the farm experience that made us miss it.
We got exactly what was advertised, on top of that Mountain View Country Estate is about 10 km out of town, it's lovely and the people are hospitable and friendly!
We were there for such a short time that it's hard to leave a proper review. Very clean and comfortable. Privacy might be compromised, but we can't complain. Lovely sunrise.
The place to stay is very cheap, but for a reason. Lighting in room is very poor and overall the place looks old. Advertisement is misleading and the name of the accommodation does not appear anywhere on the premises. No indication on site about where to sign up. The name of the accommodation also creates more of an expectation. Would not stay there again myself. But as I already mentioned, the price should already warn you.
Wonderful place to be.
Peaceful surroundings and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Jacques is an excellent host. Had a wonderful stay.
I really enjoyed my stay. The hospitality was awesome. Everything you need in a room from a toilet, shower, warm blankets, heater to a comfortable bed. Thank you for an absolutely awesome stay.
The establishment is beautifully decorated with antique pieces. The owner is very friendly and so is the staff. It is very clean and the chocolate treats were a plus! I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet getaway. -
Neat and private accommodation.
I would just like a clear signage at the entrance.
We attended a wedding down the road and A Mountain View Country Estate was convenient to stay at. We were very impressed and happy with the accommodation. The friendly treatment by the owner/staff was overwhelming.
Quiet relaxed relaxing place, Jacques is an excellent host, always makes sure everyone is happy, like visiting family. We enjoyed it very much.
Neat and sufficient. Beautiful old farmhouse atmosphere.
Nice place, very quiet, neat and clean. Bathroom just not very private and not much light in the room itself but if you're not going to put on makeup it's no problem. Space very limited.
Room is very small and photos are misleading. Very small window. Feeling stuck. Very funny smell that lingers.
Not nice at all and not private at all.
Very good service from Jacques.
It's a very decent quiet place worth it if you want to rest and switch off. Give yourself time to find yourself.
It is also safe.
Thank you very much Jacques for your hospitality and lovely stay.
The guest house is very tasteful and comfortable. Jaques is an excellent host. Thank you very much for your kindness. You made us feel very much at home.
Friendly reception, silence was palpable, tidy, well-equipped kitchen. Will definitely go again.
Stay was great. Would love to have TV in room only. But that's my personal opinion and choice. We felt special. Furniture especially impressed my wife. Thanks again Jacques.
The hospitality, accommodation and room were all beautiful. I really recommend A Mountain View Country Estate for people who just want to getaway from everything and everyone.
Comfortable facilities. Good overnight accommodation for travel/weekend activities in the area. Close enough to everything.
If you're looking for peace and quiet, if you need to get away from the city - Mountain View is made for you. I want to thank the owner, Jacques, for making me feel so welcome at Mountain View. He was so friendly and helpful all the time. The beautiful rooms, house, and grounds are in a perfect condition and everything is clean and neat. Rooms and house were cleaned every day. As far as I could see the regular cleaning staff wasn't there because of the long weekend, but Jacques and his assistant, Lucas, rolled up their sleeves and cleaned the place themselves - feather in their caps. I will definitely visit Mountain View Country Estate again! Thanks again.
Jacques an dhis manger went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The facilities are practical, very neat, well located and offers value for money. We will use it again in the future.
What an awesome experience, I loved it with my fiancé. I promise you, Jacques is the coolest guesthouse owner in the country, together with his colleague Lucas. Their hospitality, genuine hearts and kindness is amazing. The humility they have left me so humbled. The estate is exactly as on the pictures, everything beautiful and perfect. The beds are sooo comfortable, kitchens so neat. The fact that it's a walk away from the river was a bonus for us. I loved it there and I want to go back now.
My life partner and I are outdoorsy, nature people. It was lovely with the silence around us. We only stayed over one night, but would love to stay over longer. We didn't make use of the kitchen or braai facilities. The kitchens are all neat and have everything you need to stay over. We were close to Parys, so we ate dinner there and drove back to A Mountain View Country Estate afterwards.
We were very kindly received by Jacques who was also available after hours if we had any additional requests. The facilities were very neat and clean and the rates were very reasonable. I can recommend Mountain View Estate anytime.
Calm atmosphere with no other unnecessary distractions. Rooms are neat and comfortable. Close enough to all the attractions in and around Paris. Had no problems with any arrangements or the facility, so definitely value for money too. If you are looking for quiet and peaceful accommodation then this is ideal, especially for a weekend getaway in my opinion.
A proper signage such as places to stay in the area is important in our opinion. There is poor cell phone reception to call for detour. Not everyone studies the internet beforehand for guidance. Kettle for coffee in the rooms would help. We didn't want to bother other guests early in the morning by using the kitchen. Slept warm in the winter. Got a friendly reception thank you. Hot water a bit of a problem in winter for 2nd person but it helps save water if you have to take a short shower. Will stay there again if we are in that area.
Was very neat and got value for money!
It was very nice with a friendly host. Thanks, Jakkals, it was delicious.
Mountain View is a smart place for only families and business visits. It doesn't work for pleasure stay as there's so many restrictions in terms of no noise, no music to be played at all, always must be quiet.
Only problem might be only for business travelers who don't have time to make breakfast and dinner themselves. Because we were absolutely pressed for time to finish a project in Paris, we could not make use of the "self catering" facilities and had to eat in Paris in the mornings and evenings. Overall though, a very nice place to get away from the city noise.
If you want to sleep over for one night I would say the place might be ideal. We who did stay there for a weekend found it not ideal. We thought at first when the GPS showed us where the place was that we had put in the wrong coordinates. Well later with Jacques' call I found out that it was the right place. There is no sign indicating that this is the place where one should turn off at. It doesn't have to be a big sign but something that shows you are on the right track. It is also a house that has been converted into a guest house/self-catering accommodation and bathrooms and kitchen are shared. There is not really much privacy because you will have to worry all the time if my food is taken in the fridges or something by the other guests. Although we are in winter and can expect it to be cold, the house was very cold. My husband and I were shivering from the cold. Bathrooms separated by a shower curtain are also not very hygienic, especially in such small rooms. Jacques was very friendly and followed up to hear when we got there. So it was a good thing for us that hubby got called in for work, because wouldn't have enjoyed the stay very much.
No coffee making facilities in room. Not even a glass to drink from water. Bathroom just blocked off with a curtain and sink not at all standard for a bathroom. Not feeling safe.
We were two ladies visiting Paris looking for affordable, safe overnight accommodation, upon our arrival at the premises we were checked into a large house with rooms, our allocated room was opposite the lobby which had no doors is not locked so we assume it is not locked at night, disclaimer form is filled in on arrival stating that the guest house cannot be held responsible for any theft or damage to property, therefore does not create a very safe picture, according to the description and the photos on the website, the place is not at all as expected on arrival, cats roaming all over the premises, no coffee point, fridge, microwave, kettle that was mentioned is present in room. En-suite bathroom as mentioned in the description, the room has a toilet, sink and open shower with curtain that is in the corner of the room, no wall, so it is not en suite but an open-plan bathroom that is, guests in room opposite talking behind a closed door can be heard clearly in our room. Room was neat and clean. I did not expect a 2/3/4 star place at all, only safe accommodation that meets the description as advertised on the website which did not meet that at all, was very disappointed in accommodation.
Mountain View is the perfect place to relax and rest.
Keep it up, Jacques!
Bedagsame, omgee mense; rustige plaas-atmosfeer.
Such a quiet and peaceful place, just to regroup and gather your bearings. Everything was fine, no in fact: excellent. The reception we received was awesome, you immediately felt at home. Thanks Jacques. The room was well prepared and the kitchen too. The only thing that could change is the fact that there are no toilet facilities in the rooms, but we could live with that as well, other than that a job well done.
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at Montain View. The owner (Jacques) is hospitable and went out of his way to make it even more pleasant for us. I will definitely stay there again.
It was very comfortable and Jacques was really helpful and friendly. The fact that there was no toilet in the room was a bit uncomfortable. Enjoyable accommodation overall though.
It was amazing! Out of town, so quiet and cosy. Made new friends and spent hours in the evening sitting around the fire and chatting! The owner was beyond helpful and knew where to refer us if we wanted to know something. Nice big rooms and ready for a quick getaway. Thank you.
I recommend A Mountain View Estate very highly.
Very nice, spacious accommodation, service was excellent. the mentioned "fishing" facilities are not what wonders. Still very nice stay!
Would have been nice if there could have been a kitchen or social area away from sleeping areas. In the lapa outside, which is closed, we couldn't enjoy watching TV and hanging out, because the other guests are sleeping. Other than that, it was very nice.
Sleep well in a peaceful environment. Paris with everything there is to see is conveniently close.
The farm had an awful smell. There are only communal bathrooms that were very dirty. The accommodation is ideal for a big group or bachelors party.
No toilet in the room. Toilets are shared with other guests. Not something I enjoyed. Jacques was friendly and helpful.
I am very impressed with the cute place.
Pure farm and people very helpful and hospitable.
See the stars.
What a great place! Thanks for all your help Jacques.
See the stars.
The place is nice and clean and the bed slept very well. It would have been nice to have a toilet in the room.
Always a pleasure staying at Mountain View!
A Mountain View Country Estate is a beautiful place. Great people and wonderful service.
We enjoyed the quiet in the country side and the fresh air. It was a real farm experience. The lodge is well maintained and with comfortable furniture and beautiful gardens. The host went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and we would recommend the lodge to any person who needs to get out of the city's hustle. and bustle. Thank you Jacques for a memorable stay.
Despite continuous rain, it was a very nice visit. Jacques immediately made us feel at home and we immediately moved in around the large kitchen table with a hot cup of coffee. The peaceful farm atmosphere combined with the luxurious house and rooms was a nice treat.
The atmosphere just made me long for my own life on the farm and the rooster's crow that announces the dawn of a new day. Lovely, peaceful.
Very very neat and beautiful! We just weren't aware that it didn't have private bathrooms. There is a private shower in the room. Service was excellent.
See the stars.
Very quiet and peaceful guest house, excellent for a good night's rest.
If you fancy dead silence and just want to hear the bleating of sheep, this is the place. Jacques was the perfect host and made sure we were safe when we tried to sneak in like 2 naughty kids at 3 in the morning after attending a wedding. Thank you Jacques - you are the best!
Beautiful interior with exceptional quality of linen. It is a pity that all guests have to share toilet facilities which are on the other side of the guest house. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and our host was very entertaining.
Place is clean and neat. Maybe one or 2 more photos of the place as the photo that is loaded is misleading. This was an old clinic that was converted. Biggest problem is that there are no toilets in the rooms. This must be told to the potential client. For the men it's not a problem, but the ladies have to get fully dressed so they can walk to the toilets at night. Big inconvenience.
They advertise what they don't offer. Like for example meals - none. Swimming pool - none. There are also too many cats that all look sick and circle around you while you grill. Paint over the name of the "Wellness Centre" and put your name on it - how difficult can it be. That will avoid a lot of confusion. The place is ideal for an overnight stay but definitely not for a whole weekend. They must leave out things they cannot offer.
Jacques received me very kindly and made me feel at home. He was particularly accommodating with arrangements. The facilities are very spacious, neat and clean. It is remote and wonderfully quiet. I drove through the Vredefort dome every day from Potchefstroom and it was a wonderful experience, my first introduction to the area.
It was terribly hot and there was no pool or even air conditioning in the room. The shower wants to fall apart, the bedside lamps don't work and there is no toilet in the room. You share one with other people in the hallway. The kitchen's coffee mugs are shattered and there are no proper kettles in one of the three kitchens either. There is no working fridge to keep your cold drinks cold. This is a big NO! What is shown on the internet and what you see when you get there are vastly different.
We will not use Mountain View Country Estate again. The rooms appear much smaller than in the photos. There is a lot of old, antique furniture throughout the house which gives it a very heavy, dark feel. I think if you just want to sleep over and drive the next morning it's ideal, but the fares can then be reduced. The joint TV room is not of such a nature that one can sit and visit and the owner's office is right behind the TV. The office is closed with burglar bars to separate it from the house but it's an eyesore. In the short time we were there I noticed a few things that needed attention, e.g. cracks in the wall. We feel we would rather have paid more than closer to town.
There is neither a toilet nor a TV in the room. There are no spare keys for the front door and no tea in the communal kitchen. No kettle/coffee/milk/fridge/tea in the room. I will not stay there again.
The rooms are neat and clean, but the guest house cannot accommodate groups. Improvement of the hot water for the showers can definitely be looked at. The advertisement is misleading regarding the provision of breakfast/self-catering. I would not recommend the stay.
The accommodation is for people who just want to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of the city. There is nothing to do but read a book and sit and talk. The river is not far from home, but the area is not really suitable to spend a lot of time there.
Just don't get that nice guest house feeling.
Very pleasant. Quiet and beautiful. Friendly people and environment.
Would recommend it to anyone. The service is great, the guest house is beautiful and waking up in the morning with farm sounds is just wonderful. Thank you, it was delicious!!
Mountain View Country Estate is highly recommended. We had a very pleasant time. We were kindly received by our host and the service was consistently of the highest quality. The guesthouse and rooms are neat and clean. We had a nice barbecue in the evenings in a relaxed environment. Our host went out of his way to meet our needs and was always available. Would recommend the guest house at all times.
We found no fault - we are comfortable people! The tranquility was wonderful. Farm life was wonderful for us. If we could "rate" the place out of 100, it would be a definite 90!
It is a beautiful place, very unique of its kind. Will stay there again.

The owner was very friendly and helpful!!
Nice farm near Paris and pleasant people.
Mainly used for overnight facility. The tranquility and silence made me think a lot. Help on requests was handled with kindness and you didn't feel like you were a nuisance.
Please note that this is a room in a guest house, not a detached unit.
The owner very friendly and helpful. A toilet in the rooms is definitely a recommendation. Would also recommend separate braai facilities for each group or room. For those who want to fish, the river is a bit far from the guest house, but otherwise no negative comments.

Directions do not exist! No facilities along the river for fishing. No fire place by the river. No trash cans along the river. Definitely not self catering. Single room with no toilet in the room. No air conditioning. Room is stuffy. Tiles fall from the wall.
My sister and I had a great stay. I think the price was very reasonable too. We and the owner simply became great friends and had a great time together.
Very comfortable and would recommend!
- Received a warm welcome upon arrival, even though it was in the middle of the night. n- Sleeping place was very neat and comfortablen- Kitchen available with all necessary equipmentn- Surroundings peaceful and very beautiful.n- Jacques is a very pleasant host.
The owner is very involved, caring & friendly. He took time to tell us about the area & attractions. Very clean & neat lodge. Food was fantastic!
Most beautiful riverfront about 900m from accommodation!
The rooms were very comfortable. Kitchen set up could be improved (as it was very basic), but it had everything that we needed. Could do with a few more tables and seating outside at the braai area. The venue was different from what we are used to. We were expecting a free standing self-catering cottage - and not a guest house where every one shared all amenities - but once we got into it was fine. The host was very hospitable and helpful. Parys was a delightful town with lots on offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
The owner is a very pleasant person and makes you feel right at home. We will definitely stay there again when I'm in Paris!
It's a pity there are no toilets in the rooms.
See the stars below.
Mountain view is peaceful and homely and has friendly staff. See kittens being raised, ground squirrels running around on the lawn, and take a stroll through the grassland to a beautiful river view.
Nice rooms that could be more guest friendly with a few tweaks, especially since it's 9km out of town.
Very well located.
There was a shower in the room, but toilets and bathing facilities were to one side and away from the room. There was hot water. The beds and bedding are very comfortable, and the place is very clean. The space is lovely. There is DStv in the lounge/dining room. It was very cheap compared to other places in the area. If you don't expect luxury, accommodations may work well for you. For the price it is good.
The guest house has a lot of potential. The setting is beautiful and the house has a sentimental, old-fashioned feel.
We had a great stay and an awesome weekend, the place is quite with beautiful scenery and a relaxing place to chill with your friends. There you will find a short walk to the exquisite Vaal River where you can picnic and have some quite moments too. If you want adventure, there many places nearby to do quad biking, horse riding, river rafting and what ever makes you happy. Or you can choose to just stay on the property and watch the cows and horses, an experience everyone should try.
Wonderful.
I really enjoyed it. River is a bit far from the chalet. Maybe an en-suite toilet could be added into the mini-bathroom. Otherwise, wonderful.
The host is great, the place is refreshing, clean and "old-fashioned" styled.
More of a balanced dietary breakfast please.
Other guests and us agree we would rather have a toilet and basin in the room, and shower in the main bathroom, than traipse down the passage to the loon. No soap in shower, but we made a plan. Jacques was a very good host to all. Communal loos only had a tiny face cloth on which to dry your hands - paper towels or regular towels would be recommended. The plumbing in the rooms and bathroom are very "rustic" but, for what we paid it was an absolute bargain weekend , and we enjoyed fishing and reading time at the river. I would recommend this place only to persons on a budget, who are not looking for too much luxury! It was very handy to have use of the fridge, braai facilities, and the continental breakfast in the morning was perfect. Thanks again.
Clean, no frills accommodation, lacks toilet facilities in the room. I didn't like not having a proper bathroom.
