We have been staying at Aandrus for many years as a stopover halfway between Pretoria and Struisbaai and it has always been nothing but pleasant. Nice surprise, everything is brand new redone and it looks beautiful and the reception is always warm.

We arrived very late and were still very warmly welcomed. Secure parking. Only thing I would suggest is a gate that works with a remote. Other than that, everything was 100%.
The hostess is full of suggestions for restaurants and attractions in town. Love that she is so supportive of the villagers.
This is our overnight stop between Pretoria and destinations in the Western Cape.
The venue has solar so is not affected by load shedding and has electric blankets which are essential in a Karoo winter! The accommodation may be rustic, but it is unbelievable value for money. It was clean and safe. I can recommend it.

Great halfway stop from Pretoria to Cape Town. Quaint little town. The whole town is close to the N1 so getting a reasonably priced place with no road traffic, is not really possible, but this venue is set-back, by a few roads from the N1. Great for a sleepover.

We needed a place to sleep near the highway. It was clean, neat and friendly. We could get food at the garage, and we could sleep peacefully. It was great!
Bianca made us feel very much at home. The room has everything you need and most importantly, everything is in working order. We had a nice rest on the long way to Cape Town.
Aandrus is easily accessible from the road and not on the main road, so very quiet and peaceful.
Bianca Van Heerden is a very helpful, accommodating person, nothing is impossible for her. When we told her we were leaving at 04:00 in the morning during load shedding, she got up and switched on the alternative power so we could see and have a hot cup of coffee to see us on the way. She is one in a million.

The mattress in room 3 is worn and uncomfortable. We slept cold and there were no extra blankets. No air freshener in the toilet. The WiFi signal is too weak to use.

I have no problem with old furniture and linen, but room 9 was definitely not clean and tidy, our friends room 7 was by far in better condition. I'm sorry, but the shower floor wasn't clean, the shower curtain wasn't clean at all and curtain half hard. The room definitely needs TLC.
We found one lady employee who worked as a receptionist, and a security guard at the same time. We felt so unsafe, if we didn't book the place in advance we wouldn't have slept there. My husband had to phone the police station to enquire if the place was safe for us to sleep there. We were a little relieved after the police confirmed that they didn't have any reported incidents. In the middle of the night, the water and lights were switched off, we left the place at 4 am without having a shower because their water and lights were off, but the neighbors had lights. All in all, our 1 night stay there was a disaster.
I can't complain, every day was up to standard, the place is close to the road and Bianca is a good person, wifi signal is very bad in the room but at the kitchen and reception the connection is fantastic.

My family and I drove home from the Cape and split the trip in two for the sake of the children. So we stayed for a night at Aandrus Gastehuis.
A quick stopover is fine but certainly not more than 1 night. Hot water too little for 2 people. Maybe because the pipes freeze in winter. Would have liked a shower more than a bath but that's my personal choice. The taps in the bath were broken but the lady fixed it very quickly and was very friendly. They are not loadshedding ready yet so take a lamp with you just in case. The beds sleep very well. For 2 ladies alone in the Karoo, it was a bit nerve-wracking to stop in the dark by the side of the road where no street lights are on, to get the keys to the room. Safety is an important aspect for us as ladies. Think if there was more light it might have felt safer.

The purpose of Aandrus is an overnight resting place through the Karoo. He succeeds perfectly in his goal because of my 5 stars, and we were received very kindly. It's very close to the N1, yet so situated that we weren't aware of the traffic or trucks at all. There is a kettle, mugs, coffee, tea and sugar in the room, with milk containers. If you want to cook yourself, the kitchen in the house is available with a large fridge. There is also a large lounge available just for guests with its own TV, although each room has its own TV. Your car is behind a secure gate and can be parked right in front of your room to make loading and unloading easy. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and we slept well. The shower and toilet worked flawlessly and the water was nice and hot. To sum up, we lacked nothing and little things were thought of that made it that much more comfortable. We enjoyed a tasty dinner at the Fat Mouse.

The picture on the page that is advertised is a picture of the office, not where the overnight units are at all. I would recommend them for quick overnight sleep. Too bad they don't have air conditioners in the units for such a hot area. Also lots of mosquitoes.

We felt you get what you pay for. It was basic. The second bed was a little uncomfortable. Springs need a little support. It would have been nice to have a fridge and a microwave in the room although there was one available in the communal kitchen.

Aandrus is reminiscent of an old-fashioned motel with its rooms clustered around a motor court. The room was clean and adequate, but there is no real storage space and the lighting is inadequate. There is a communal kitchen and dining area which is adequately equipped. It can be recommended primarily as an overnight stop.

Would suggest air-cons, it's very hot in December! Braai facilities may also be renovated.

The service was friendly and we got value for our money. We could not use the internet WiFi in the 5 bedroom suite - signal too weak from main house/remote. Hot water, heater, electric blankets on each bed were very welcome with the cold nights at the end of August with another cold front in the forecast. Make sure you have cash to pay the difference of your stay if you only paid 50% EFT with your booking. I will stay here again if I drive through Richmond from Durban to the Karoo.
