125 guests' feedbackIt was wonderful to be able to stay in such a cute house. Had a great night's rest that night.
Great location, peaceful garden and a hop and skip to the Main Street.
Well located for a quick overnight stay.
What an amazing stay we had and returned for an extra night. Thank you.
Had a great time and will go again.
Very nice stay and we will definitely stay there again when we visit Prince Albert.
Lovely spacious and well equipped accommodation at a very reasonable rate with air conditioning as a bonus. We were warmly welcomed by the host and immediately felt at home. Thank you very much, we enjoyed the beautiful antiques.
Had a great time. The cottage is very comfortable and the host went out of his way to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Marie met us on time and was very friendly. The accommodation was great and much more than we expected. The cooling was perfect! We definitely plan to go again.
See stars.
The restored house with its antique furniture and its history of a family that owned it, created for us the typical Karoo warmth. The koi fish in the ponds are beautiful. You can spend a week in this house.
It was wonderfully quiet with a lovely barbecue area under a shade tree.
Good standard accommodation.
Very nice stay. Thank you for the hospitality. Will definitely visit longer next time!
Thank you, Mari, for your hospitality. We had a great time!
Due to bad weather we were late to clock in. The hostess called us to confirm arrival time and received us very kindly, no exaggeration and did not intrude on our privacy. Guesthouse is within walking distance of most restaurants and attractions.
Only slept for 1 night. Very quiet area. Equipped with everything you need. Aircon was a plus for the Karoo heat. Close to restaurants and shops.
Within walking distance to the main attractions in town. The aircon was very welcome in the heat!
The guest house is beautifully furnished with old-fashioned furniture that matches the old-world charm of the town. Nice and tidy with everything you need. The hostess is very friendly. I can confidently recommend this accommodation.
Had a great time. Great barbecue place. Air conditioners were a winner in hot weather. Within walking distance of town and shops.
We only stayed one night. Everything was nice. Big problem with mosquitoes and with loadshedding you can't turn on the air conditioning either. Very neat place and hospitality.
It was a perfect one night stop over.
We had a wonderful visit at Aandrus!
We were sorry we couldn't sit in the garden due to ants' nuisance. Furthermore, the furniture is very dated and is not very comfortable, otherwise, everything was fine.
Nice place to stay and clean.
First of all I want to thank Mari for going the extra mile for her guests. She does not hesitate to wait until late for her guests and then still receive us with a smile. Aandrus's authentic and ancient touch puts me at ease. The Prince Albert Friend, which is placed there, immediately puts me in touch with what is going on in the town. The creative light coverers are absolutely stunning. The braai area under the tree with the swings for the children is breathtaking.
We had a lovely stay in a real family home. Everything was clean and tidy and all our needs were met. We were well received by Alene and she was very helpful with information that we required.
Here is everything you need for a few days or overnight stay in Prince Albert. Walk down to the high street and then to Gaye's Dairy. We still bought yogurt, cheese and figs there at the end of April. Nice restaurants nearby, try The Rude Chef. Grill outside and look at the stars.
Owner friendly.
Very neat, tidy and comfortably furnished. Excellent value for money. Marie is also very helpful and friendly. Thank you.
Lovely house to stay in and spacious and well equipped. Lovely place to sit and braai etc. Would be good if the gates could be locked to not allow beggars in.
In the upper town and a bit alone.
Could peacefully explore the town without having to use our car.
Just be careful, one of our guests almost hurt himself badly when a wooden chair's back gave way. Chair's back had previously been repaired with small nails. That chair is unsafe for human consumption. Furthermore, it is a lovely, well-equipped house. Will stay there again.
Everything that was needed with enough bathrooms.
Hostess was a star, even helped us with extra night when our others didn't work out overnight and we urgently needed a place to sleep. Beautiful garden and view to the hill. Tranquility to feed Koi fish and cool garden for relaxing. Lovely big house.
Very comfortable house and great location.
Everything was perfect, place was clean and reception was friendly and served us with good advice for a delicious meal out.
Thank you Mari for the warm welcome, wonderful visit and all your extra effort. We really appreciate it. Aandrus has peace, tranquility, calm and ease. We are so sorry that we only stayed one night in this beautiful place. Hope we can book a longer time sometime.
We've stayed here twice. Francois and Marie are wonderful and so accommodating. They both went out of their way to help us with little things we needed. The house is lovely and well equipped. Would definitely recommend.
The more than 100-year-old house has an interesting history and the furniture dates from that time. Was a nice experience.
Lovely space with three bathrooms.
Would recommend it.
Traditional Karoo house fully equipped and with interesting furniture. We were only 2 people and were able to rent the one bedroom and bathroom house at a very reasonable rate, but the house can easily accommodate a larger family. Cozy kitchen, dining room and living room with TV (limited channels). There is a nice outdoor area around the braai place and a nice big garden with a playground for children. Restaurants and the small supermarket are within walking distance.
Just a quick weekend away, everything very comfortable, nice and clean!
Very nice place. Just imagine a handrail at the entrance would make the steps safer. Had a great time.
Great value for money. Clean and tidy. Enjoyed the braai outside!
We were warmly received and told more about events in the town. Very nice house and nice stay.
Everything was clean, tidy and adequate.
Don't be fooled by appearance, this is very good value for money, central, safe and secure with friendly hosts. Will recommend to anyone!
Lots of space. The place is a well planned mix of old and new. A successful attempt was made to place emphasis on the past, without eliminating modern conveniences. Very nice stay.
Excellent service.
I would recommend Aandrus anytime. We and the children really enjoyed the farm feel. Thanks for the aircons in the rooms. It helped a lot. The house we stayed in was beautiful and clean.
Aandrus was very well equipped for everything we could need. Lovely large house with modern bathrooms and facilities. We had a great stay and would easily stay here again.
Mari was very friendly and helpful. Showed us everything and made us feel at home. Some kitchen items can be replaced with new ones to create a "newer" image.
Will stay there again, the service was very good!
Nice to have a lush lawn in Prince Albert.
Neat, spacious and blissful.
Very nice and comfortable place.
Big rooms, well-equipped kitchen, large dining table. Lots of room for the 4 children with us to play inside the house and a lovely grassed area just outside with braai circle.
The aircon was a winner! Will definitely come to rest with Aandrus again. Thanks Mari!
Slept very well. House is beautiful inside and out. To recommend.
House is very spacious and also conveniently located on a walking route outside town. Air conditioning helped a lot against the heat.
It was nice and quiet and relaxing.
This is a gem at the foot of the Swartberg Pass. Friendly hostess, beautiful place with everything you need and the air conditioning in the bedrooms is a big plus. Apart from the parking which is not safe, this place really deserves 5 stars in every way. Thank you very much.
Would like to enjoy the silence and peace longer.
A quiet and private house, unique decor. Loved the kettle and the kitchen lights! Nice farm atmosphere with enough seating under the tree.
Beautiful spacious neat clean house. Great barbecue place. Will definitely stay there again. Friendliest hostess ever.
What a wonderful and lovely person Mari is. Angel on earth. You won't find a better hostess. Our vehicle broke down and she wouldn't let us pay for another day and also took us to Spar so we could buy food. Mari, thank you very much from the bottom of my and Cor's heart for everything you have done for us. We really appreciate it. Mari picked us up and showed us around Prince Albert herself and told us the history of the place. Even the gables' difference is shown. Can you believe it: Prince Albert has his own unique charms.
This is not top accommodation, but good value for money. We were 5 motorcyclists, each looking for his own room or bed. Many of the other guesthouses have double beds in rooms and are set up for families. For our purposes this place to stay was very good.
See stars.
We arrived a little late at Aandrus due to rather poor road surfaces on the Swartberg Pass. We contacted Marie as soon as we arrived in Prince Albert and she immediately directed us and personally met us at the house. The house is fairly old, but entirely within the ambience of Prince Albert. The rooms were immaculately clean with a decor that matched the house completely. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly return when we are in the area.
Excellent stay. The only thing that was a bit of a bummer is that the water in the one bathroom (the one that is not en-suite) was barely warm and you had to take a cold shower.
We will definitely stay again in this beautiful renovated Karoo cottage. Had such a good time lying and reading under a pepper tree in the garden. Would recommend the stay to anyone!
The rooms with en-suite bathrooms were super clean and neat. Great braai place as well. I'll definitely stay here again!
Neat and affordable accommodation, ideal for a group or family.
We had a very nice stay. The house was very spacious and clean. The outdoor braai facilities are also very nice.
Enjoyed the stay very much and rested well in a still and peaceful environment.
If you've always wanted to sleep in a real Karoo house, with grandma's kettle and the kitchen cupboards reminding you of grandma's cupboards, this is the place to be. The house has everything you need for a wonderful Karoo experience and for a large family it is perfect with a lovely braai area outside. You get that real Karoo feeling when you get up in the morning, not luxurious, but everything you need is there and it shouldn't be luxurious either, because then the house loses its character.
Highly recommended for accommodation.
An entire house with fully fitted kitchen, 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms (one brand new), a fire pit and braai and two beautiful horses, secluded and quiet. What is not to love? Awesome little get-away. Quirky and has everything you need. Only slight suggestion is the brass bed in main room was not put together properly and the slightest movement in the night and the whole thing rattled, but as the bathroom had only been finished that morning I think it was a rush to get it together and get the bedroom back together. Well worth every sent and highly recommended.
We had an incredibly nice stay at Aandrus. Feeding the Koi was an experience in itself. We went home rested after a lovely weekend. It is wonderful to relax away from the city's hustle and bustle in such peaceful surroundings. The braai area is of course a big hit.
The place is very well maintained. Friendly service and large rooms with air conditioning and a large tree-rich garden with wonderful outdoor facilities.
We had a great time at Aandrus. We were very kindly received by Mari. Aandrus is a very spacious house with old-fashioned furniture and is within walking distance of the village, as well as being very privately located. Mari impressed us incredibly with her helpfulness when we asked about what there is to do in the area. The boma braai outside in the garden was a big plus in the hot summer Karoo evenings. We barbecued every night, while admiring the starry sky. The air conditioning systems in the 2 bedrooms we used were heaven on earth in the bloody heat. There is a TV with only regular SABC channels, but the reception is not that good, so we didn't watch TV, instead we admired the nature outside and had a nice chat together. We will definitely stay there again in the future.
Many thanks to Mari. Feel free to do so. Everything we needed. Centrally located. Neat and clean. Absolutely worth staying here.
Appreciate the fact that the lady came so quickly after just one phone call, we would not have checked in until 23h00 in the evening but then got there earlier. Only complaint is that the mattress of the double bed is very thin and you can feel the board under it, our bodies were very sore the next day but the 2 single beds in the smaller room were fantastic. Please give attention to the double bed, large please!
Nice peaceful environment, nice stay.
Can recommend it. Lots of mosquitoes so bring your own things for that. We regrouped the chairs around the fireplace to make it more inviting, but they were all put together again after the grass was watered!
Very clean and tidy accommodation. The house was peaceful and quiet.
The accommodation was central and adequate for our requirements.
It's dirty and dead goldfish are lying around on the ground and there are dead fish in the ponds and it's terrible mopeds. One double bed sleeps very badly. Will never stay there again.
Our family stayed overnight in Prince Albert on the way to the coast and regret not staying an extra few days! Aandrus was already full and we stayed in another house. See stars, but we can recommend it anytime.
Very neat, spacious accommodation, fully equipped.
Best pork schnitzel ever eaten at the Swartberg Hotel, such a beautiful dining room with old world charm. Prince Albert is definitely worth a visit, especially the Karoo Donkey Sanctuary and the Detroit Vintage Garage. Will visit again, possibly longer next time.
Will definitely stay there again. Can wholeheartedly recommend.
We arrived at Aandrus 1:00 in the morning and was welcomed by the beautiful spirited owner, who immediately made us feel welcomed. The peace of the place just drowns out everything else. Amazing experience. Will definitely visit again, next time for a longer stay.
We enjoyed our stay in Prins Albert.
Very nice stay, it's a really cute place, will definitely stay there again and really good price compared to what the other guesthouses charge.
The furniture was beautiful and well cared for. The bedding was clean and tidy. The only disappointment was the instant coffee and there was no Rooibos tea just regular tea. My husband and I do not drink any powdered coffee or regular tea at all, we drink coffee house sachet coffee and Rooibos tea. Our stay was very pleasant and we have no complaints. The lady was very friendly.
We had a lovely time. Will stay a bit longer next time.
It was a convenient place at an affordable rate. Only negative was that there was no hot water for the showers. Luckily it was during summer so it didn't bother us much.
Very nice house with ample space for 3 families. Safe for the kids to play outside. Close to the town to be able to walk everywhere, yet far enough from the noise. Would definitely stay there again.
Friendly reception when we arrived. The is a typical little Karoo house with nice furniture. The house is well-equipped and ideal for a family with kids. We had a great time and we will definitely stay there again for a longer time. Was so nice to feed the fish.
Nice clean house with lots of space. Hostess made us feel welcome and well informed about places to eat.
Close to the main street, walking distance from the Saturday market and restaurant! Quiet and tranquil environment. The children enjoyed playing in the huge garden. We enjoyed the weekend a lot!
If you are looking for modern accommodation, you are in the wrong place. The house's character fits in with the town and you get the whole house to yourself regardless of the number of people. There is everything you need in the kitchen and to grill with. Walking distance from everywhere you want to be. Thanks for the discount coupon at Lazy Lizzard. I would only recommend that the guests be informed that the one bathroom is connected to solar power.
Real farmhouse where you experience silence and tranquillity, but close to everything. Owners go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Fish pond is definitely a winner with the children! Thank you for your kindness and interesting chat about the town's history. We will definitely come and visit again!
"Down to earth", modest, honest, economical accommodation. Clean, comfortable, spacious. Located in quiet area of town. The appearance of the building does not do justice to what awaits inside. Do not judge by appearance of the building.
We were only looking for a place to sleep for 1 night and are very satisfied with the sleeping and bathroom facilities.
At first glance (from the outside), Aandrus seems like an ill-considered choice. But open the old-fashioned ranch-type front door and walk through the spacious house, and you're taken back to a part of Grandpa and Grandma's farmhouse. With a balance between old fashioned decor and more modern items such as the (much needed) air conditioning in both rooms, we thoroughly enjoyed the place and it was the perfect stopover while exploring Prince Albert and the surrounding area. We were greeted with the wonderful natural enthusiasm of the Karoo residents and the house's location away from the main street means you can rest well. Will definitely go back if I'm in the area again!
Has everything one needs for an overnight stay.
The establishment is situated in a noisy suburb. The house and furnishings are very old and not 100% clean (bed bugs and cockroaches, greasy crockery). The description is misleading since there is no view to speak of and the koi-dam only an unsightly cement structure not even visible from the house.
In searching for accommodation in Prince Albert for 3 Aandrus was the only place that could accommodate us. I read the reviews and with the exception of 1 everyone was very satisfied. We kindly join this satisfied group. If you can appreciate true Karoo style antiques Aandrus is the ideaal place.
We stayed two nights at Aandrus. Very basic, but clean, neat and comfortable. The area is just the thing! Only problems (if I have to search for something to say) is that the microwave oven didn't work and the shower's taps are so high that you can almost not reach it. But, given the area and the price you pay, we were highly satisfied and will definitely come visit again.
Nice, clean town, relaxing without noise. Friendly people.
Value for money.
Clean, neat and spacious. Thanks!
Place was painfully neat and very easy to find. Everything we needed was in the fully equipped house. Lovely braai area outside and very safe. We also made "friends" with two grandfather turtles who came to meet us. Would recommend it! Walking distance from als.
Everything went smoothly and we had everything we needed.
We couldn't stay in Aandrus as it was fully booked but stayed at other accommodation by the same owner. Really enjoyed it. The only thing that lacks is a portable braai that can be moved in front of the back door. Other than that it was wonderful and we would gladly return.
The Klipstraat house is very old, but everything was clean and tidy, the double bed excellent and the air conditioner dead quiet and effective. Beautiful village.
The house is spacious and at least there is toilet paper. Everything you need is there, but it felt very old and like it hasn't seen renovation in some time. The walls and ceilings were rather dirty.
