We slept great. Everything needed to spend a very cold winter evening was at our disposal: gas heaters, electric blankets on the beds and nice hot water in the shower. Not only was it available to us - the heaters were on and so were the warm blankets. Everything was neat and clean and the host very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend the accommodation.

The little home had everything we needed. My elderly parents had a good night's sleep in the main room, and the bed in the lounge was more than adequate. The extra blankets kept us warm. The perfect host.

Fred was at his property gate to welcome us. Based on our late afternoon ETA, he had already started 2 gas heaters to warm up the kitchen and living room, which was a welcome surprise. The unit was clean and contained everything that we desired. The electric blankets were necessary on a cold winter's night. The hot shower early in the morning woke us up. Fred kindly facilitated a very early start for us and was on hand to unlock the property gate and wish us farewell.

Helene and Fred welcomed us very well and I immediately felt welcome with them. We wanted to hit the road very early the next morning and they had no problem opening the gate for us. A big surprise awaited us to find a neat, clean and comfortable place where our two small dogs we were moving with could stay. The host and hostess were extremely friendly and went out of their way to warmly welcome us on our arrival and got up in the early hours to see us off again on our departure. We were greeted by our friendly hosts. There was load shedding but they had a generator running so that we could use all the amenities. They have an amazing slipper ball and claw bath tub that was excellent for a long soak. They provided us with homemade rusks which was a nice touch. The bed was very comfortable. The accommodation was incredibly comfortable and we watched our TV programs wonderfully warm and slept wonderfully in our bed with an electric blanket. The kitchen was unbeatable with all the necessary facilities such as a microwave oven, toaster, stove and oven, kettle, delicious coffee and tea with only the best biscuits. The house was beautifully decorated and had comfortable furniture. The bathroom has the most beautiful fittings and is very comfortable with a bath and a shower.

After driving for most of the day, the welcome we received from Helene made the journey worthwhile. Nothing was too much trouble for her and Fred the next morning when we met him. We can certainly recommend Aandster Oornag akkommodasie to anyone needing accommodation in Middelburg.
Lovely guest unit, homely, tastefully equipped and decorated, beautiful bedroom and living room with additional sleeper couch; bathroom nice with old-fashioned bath on feet, modern shower. Friendly reception and well-organised with a takeaway menu available, so guests can order and collect, and then sit around a nice table in the kitchen and enjoy their meal. Coffee, tea, sugar, enough milk and homemade rusks for breakfast on morning of departure, with Aandster bottled water to take with for the journey. In Middelburg we will definitely always stay in Aandster!

On the way to Plettenberg Bay we stayed overnight at Aandster because they are animal friendly and our 3 Toypom puppies traveled with us. Helene-they are very hospitable and our stay was very comfortable. The self-catering unit is tidy and the sleeping facilities are comfortable with nice pillows. The kitchen is fully equipped and the complimentary biscuits, water and coffee and tea making facilities, as well as milk was a plus. Will definitely stay here again.
Was surprised to receive such good accommodation with genuine South African hospitality. We will definitely stay there again. Air conditioning in the bedroom will certainly be a great improvement in the summer months.

Aandster has an old-world feel and we were surprised to find a kitchen, bathroom, double bedroom and bedroom/sitting room. We only expected a place to sleep. Helene and her husband are very friendly and were happy to share the history of this 150-year-old house with us. We also enjoyed the photo album. It was great that our dogs could sleep there with us and my daughter's two schnauzers really enjoyed the pool. The power went out after a heavy storm, but Helene immediately brought us lamps and turned on the generator so we didn't have any inconvenience. We were even given hot water for coffee and were often asked if we had everything we needed. We were referred to a delicious restaurant and we ate too well. The hosts got up early and made sure the generator was turned on so we could hit the road early. I would definitely recommend Aandster and hope to visit Middelburg again in the future.

We took our sheepdog with us and without any effort he made the yard his own and was completely calm! For dinner, Helene referred us to Celtic where we had a very nice meal. Everything was clean and tidy. I can truly say that we had everything our heart desires for such an overnight stop. But even if one wanted to stay a few days it would be the best option!
The only down side was that my wife was kept awake by the neighbour's barking dogs and she heard a loud noise out on the roads further away from our location. This caused her to not sleep well. Understandably, these are not in the control of the owners of Aandster Oornag Akkommodasie. The owners were very attentive to us from the moment we started communication over WhatsApp to even after we left to begin our honeymoon. We always drove past Middelburg and luckily we decided to spend the night there this time. It was a wonderful experience, the accommodation outstanding and the host and hostess are people with hearts of gold. We would love to stay there again.

Accommodation is ideal for a family with children. 2 bedrooms must use the same entrance from the kitchen. For us it was comfortable as we were sharing with friends.

A very cute place for overnight stay, everything is available. It's like being at your own house. Helene and Fred were very hospitable and made our stay very easy and we could just relax and enjoy our stay after 8 hours on the road. We are very private people.
Beautifully restored home with exquisite finishes. All that is needed is there. Good linen and towels. Hostess put heaters on for us before we arrived. All negative aspect was the mattress. Slept a lot.
After a long journey, the owners received us warmly. Our accommodation was comfortable and clean and everything we needed was there. We slept well and were ready the next morning for the next part of our journey. What really impressed us is the courage the owners had to transform a dilapidated house into a comfortable guest house. It is something that is of great benefit to our country.

Accommodation as such good value for money, but access very inadequate. Owners undertake to address this.
We felt like friends and not if it was just overnight accommodation. It was very, very nice there.
Helene and Fred went out there way to make us feel at home.

Pleasant welcome with delicious biscuits and coffee. Anything you can think of is in the bedrooms, kitchen, living room, bathroom. Very quiet for a great night's rest. Extremely reasonable price for excellent accommodation.

Helené and Fred are wonderful people! Friendly, helpful and considerate. The apartment in their house is well equipped, clean, tidy and very spacious. We recommend it to any traveler!
Fred and Helene Serfontein made us feel very welcome. The unit was spacious, neat, with a large kitchen. We were there during winter and there were enough wall heaters to warm the place up.

The left the gate open and we drove to the back of the house where the owners welcomed us. So friendly and we were at ease immediately - was just strange to walk through their lounge to get to our room. But is was lovely we thank them for being so friendly.
