We had an amazing experience during our stay at the accommodation. The host was very helpful with directions and for sure everything was to our liking. The house is terribly unique, bitterly beautiful and the concept is special. Everything you need in one place. The hot splash pool and starry sky are very special. We will definitely be back and even try the 2nd home.

A wonderful getaway if you need rest, silence and nature. Here you want to put your phone aside, except for taking pictures of beautiful sunsets. The addition of WiFi is convenient for staying in touch if you need it, as there is no cell phone reception. Artistic design and decor, with attention to detail. In the summer, the outdoor shower was a winner! Even though the weekend was very hot, the bedroom is cooler in the evenings, thanks to the architecture. The host offered great ideas for excursions, and there is plenty to do and see in the greater area, but I was quite happy to stretch out and switch off just here for 5 days. Overall sense of privacy. Very good service!

Tucked away in the koppies of De Rust, you'll find a peaceful "earth ship" style home. However, this one comes with an artistic flair, reflecting the rustic lifestyle of the Karoo but also curated with well-crafted furniture and decor. You'll get plenty of sun and quiet out here. Amenities are great, so once you've stocked up on groceries and sunscreen you'll be happy to stay relaxing on the porch, bathing in the jacuzzi or chatting around the fireplace. Expect to share the kitchen/dining-room area with the field mice who come through the gaps in the walls, but if you pack any foodstuffs away into the cupboards they're not a bother. The sleeping quarters (inside a repurposed shipping container) can be completely sealed off from the wildlife. The staff on duty is super kind and always available. The gravel road to the house is quite long and rough, so be careful if you're bringing a low-ride car. We had an SUV and it did just fine. Loved the stay, felt like living on a movie set! Would definitely recommend this as a getaway for a couple or some close-knit friends.

"Looking forward to a place to sleep - but disappointed."

I was really looking forward to the place so I just had to include it in our sloucher tour. The place is very innovative and the view is something to see. Although it is not a place for older people. You park quite far from the accommodation and then have to carry all your luggage down and uphill. The route down to the place is also very rocky and you have to know your steps. The road there cannot be driven with a small car. There is only an outside bathroom which is quite inconvenient because you have to go through the children's bedroom all the time, and if that door opens, everyone is awake. I don't even want to know how to use that bathroom in the middle of winter. And then just make room for a few mice running across your lap when you're on the toilet. The layout of the place is also quite strange with a piece of the kitchen in the middle of the 2 bedrooms and then another part on the other side. The cutlery is actually something to be ashamed of, because there are only 4 plates and 4 bowls. So not very well equipped. The WiFi also didn't work - only for a while at a time, and we also couldn't get a hold of the person to help out with any requests. The pool is definitely a winner on hot days, and we could just sit and stare at all the beauty around the place for hours. Very quiet and very peaceful. I was disappointed with how impractical the place is, but I believe with a few tweaks and better parking close to the unit it would be a great experience. I would be wary of recommending it to anyone.

We enjoyed the cabin very much. It was a nice getaway for our wedding anniversary where we could relax and get away from everyday busy life. Everything was neat, clean and very beautiful. This is a must see place for sure!

Wow! What a wonderful treasure in the Klein Karoo! The road to the accommodation is a bit rough, but then the breathtaking views amaze you upon arrival, and it just keeps on going. The jacuzzi was so nice and warm in the evening, and the stay was very comfortable. I just hoped there were more towels because we swam and showered and used towels all the time, and there was only 1 per person. But everything else was simply perfect! 5 stars and definitely a perfect getaway for everyone.

"Different, interesting and quiet."

Very interesting build of a rock-based home in a lovely Karoo setting. The furniture and architecture are unique and well worth the visit. It is comfortable, with a great outside flow, and you quickly settle into the rhythm of the Karoo. There is a great fireplace and a lovely outside tub with a fire heating system where you can practice fire-making skills to warm it up. We managed to get it nice and warm on the second night. Definitely recommended.

A secluded hidden gem, nestled in the mountains with magical views. You are in the middle of nowhere enjoying the pleasures of connecting with nature. The unit is uniquely designed and mostly made from steel and rocks with an outside shower giving you the feel of bushlife. From catching sunrise to sunset in the hot tub with endless conversations ️while hearing all the different kinds of bird sounds in the background. We felt completely safe, it is off the grid, and suggest you buy everything needed for your stay.

Aardts Cabin is something from another world. The design of the cottage, the designer decor and furniture, the breathtaking setting and view was unsurpassed. It's a place of stillness, and becoming a part of nature. We were all more inspired and more creative people after our Aardts Cabin experience.

Great place to explore wonderful, creative living space and views. The hot tub was a great hit in the full moon on a cold winter's night.

This is such a unique place where your soul can rest, hidden in the Karoo, no cell phone reception, one with nature. We were there in the middle of winter, lucky enough to be able to shower in the rain in the outdoor shower, was probably the highlight of my weekend, then there is the lovely fireplace that warms everything around you! We didn't even get to the hot tub! Abrie and team, you have a gem of a place and we look forward to the new addition to Aardts!

Fantastic and unique. Ensure a break we will do again. Totally off the grid with a view that will take your breath away. Remember the reception is very limited, of course something that suited us perfectly. 10 out of 10 to Aardts Cabins.

We stayed at Aardts for two nights and it was absolutely fantastic. Abrie is a great host and sent detailed directions before our arrival. It is a secluded location and one has to be careful on the road, as others have mentioned. The house is something special and a great way to break away from technology. We will definitely stay here again!

Words cannot describe what you experience there. It's just you and nature. Beautiful sunsets and bright stars. The setting is so well laid out. The star bathroom and the cooling pool were my favourites. We simply slept with all the doors open. Apart from the heat we had a fantastic time.

Tucked away in the hills close to De Rust, very beautiful sunset. Slightly cold in winter, more for getaways than for working travelers.

We enjoyed our stay but it was a struggle to keep warm, would be a better place to stay in summer. The hot tub is level with the ground so difficult to light as you have to get on all your hands and knees to light the fire.

My husband and I booked Aardts because it looked like our kind of holiday destination. Well we were blown away, what a "diamond in the rough". Every need is catered for and more. Off the grid recharging your mind and body with its peacefulness. We will definitely book again.

Aardts Guest Farm is neat and clean and incredibly beautiful. The tranquility will do anyone's soul good. The owner checked in once a day via WhatsApp just to make sure we didn't need anything. The manager there was friendly and close enough if we needed anything. I would recommend anyone to stay at Aardts Guest Farm.

You will need high clearance vehicle. If you like adventure and being away from city noises, work etc. then this is for you. Beautiful sunset from the fire heated swimming pool enjoying glass of wine received on arrival. We will visit again.

Shortcomings: road is not good, kitchen facilities lack replenishment, shower facilities not suitable for winter, it can cause cold, excellent location and very unique design, will definitely recommend people!
