When we checked in, I asked the lady what time breakfast is served. She told us it's at 8am, only to realise when we left that it was around 7am. Also, there were guests downstairs having a party until after 10pm, making a lot of noise and talking so loud without any consideration for other guests. It is a lovely guest house, but I don't think I will recommend it to our rowing community, as we had our first regatta in the area at the Vaal.
Very nice guest house and close to shopping centres, places to eat and at Emerald Casino with lots to do for young and old.
Loved our stay. There was a few noisy customers, but realised it is a Friday night and people had been "kuiering". The room is really nicely laid out, staff friendly, lovely breakfast and very special lady Aletta that served us with a smile.

The planning, design and landscape architecture of Aark Guest Lodge and the yard has been professionally done and finished. The impression I got of its construction and probable partial additions was to me the equivalent of aircraft construction protocol. Variety of elongated slender flagpole type trees occur on the site, e.g. Yuka elongated palm species, possible White Stinkwood and other types of trees towered high above the roofs. Coupled with this is the wooden platform walking surfaces at first floor level with varnished split post handrails, this caught my imagination and immediately took my mind to the wooden construction railway bridge "The Bridge on the River Kwai". The dining hall had marine elements present, such as the blue and white stripes on the chairs the white and black clothing of the waitresses, wide wooden framed windows and when I sat at the breakfast table looking out at the pool it felt like breakfast on a boat's deck Breakfast was standard with fruit drinks, fruit salad, coffee, tea, cereal and other cereal products with milk and then the main breakfast course which one could choose from a menu. The suburb of Aark Guest Lodge is SE3 (South East 3) and close to Vaal River. It was lovely to walk early in the morning in the neighborhood's streets such as Olive, Poplar, Beefwood, Koorsboom and Groendoringstraat, among other walkers and joggers. The streets are quiet and mainly restricted to the suburb's residents and consist of single-lanes, cul-de-sacs and T-junctions.
Was very handy to order dinners, parking is just a problem, sometimes hard to park in small space.
Rooms were clean and tidy, breakfast was top notch. Always served by friendly staff. Would definitely recommend Aark Guest Lodge to others for an overnight stay. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a lovely stay and it is really value for money and appreciated that they put me and my children's rooms next to each other. I just recommend that they maybe put electric blankets on the beds in the winter and also maybe make provision if a guest is late for dinner. Can only recommend that fitted sheets be put on the beds. The flat sheets that are placed over mattresses cause us to straighten the bed at night. Furthermore, it was an excellent guest house and would be recommended.
