It was very nice to stay at Abalone Lodges. Everything was in place as on website. Will definitely go back again. All that was a bit of a bummer was that the DSTV channels were not all available. We wanted to watch rugby, but couldn't.
Very comfortable and well equipped. Nice views over the lagoon. Big walk-in shower. Very close to Bosuns Pub for supper.

It was a lovely and lively experience, lively in view and interaction to the nearby facilities. The staff were extremely accommodating and available, while providing much needed privacy. Convenience of your everyday tools (i.e. utensils and appliances) make your travel light and stay very pleasant. The stay was amazing to say the least and the facilities housed such comfort.

There are protective parking bays for your car. It would be nice if they could upgrade to Netflix or have some YouTube. Apart from that, it's nice and I love the place.

Our log chalet at Abalone Lodges was comfortable and clean and serviced daily by 2 friendly cleaning staff. The view from the balcony was lovely with gorgeous sunsets on clear days. We were a short drive to the city centre and Knysna Heads lookout/lagoon. James at reception was very helpful and friendly. We hope to visit again soon.
The management team running the complex are really excellent. They were so easy and approachable. Our 18-day stay at Abalone was amazing and the views were great. Also, the attention the household team gave was excellent.

It was very quiet. I think it had more to do with the fact that the property was situated in a residential area. Also, load shedding had to be there as well. But overall, very nice place. Not for children though, as noise levels would rise.

Good value for money.
My complaint has nothing to do with our accommodation, but with "loadshedding". My 12 year old son and I booked a nice weekend away and Abalone caught our attention because the room has a spa bath and DSTV which scored a lot of points with the almost teenage boy. Then we got "loadshedding" from 6 pm to 10 pm. This turns our experience into one that doesn't feel like value for money at all. Bath and TV don't work, and all we have is a bed and cell phone for the evening. Makes you think about paying cheaper for accommodation in the future.
It was good. Just need to replace some of the accessories in the room like the iron and the ironing board. The 9pm timeout is not nice.

Abalone Lodges have a great variety between their units. They are all very beautiful and well located in Knysna. Note that the wifi does not work when the power is off. Can get boring. We kind of thought it would be cool if they had a hangout area too. Convert one of the units into a small restaurant with a pool table e.g. Beds are very comfortable! Will definitely return.

Definitely coming back! We were a group of 12 (1-70 yrs) people and booked the big house and a separate room. It suited us well. The location was great. My husband walked to the lagoon every day to fish and we went to visit the sights.
We only stayed for one night, but our host was helpful. The room had a wonderful view and the bed, sheets and room were all spotless. The room was very modern and central to everything in Knysna. The swimming pools were lovely.
Everything you need and much more - each room's hot tub, the view of the lake and all the sounds of nature. We and children really enjoy it.

The perfect place to spend a day or two. We really enjoyed the deck overlooking the lake, and the log cabin is nicely finished and cute. The kitchen is a bit neat but very good for 1 person to cook. The location is very central and close to als.
The reception was good and professional, and made recommendations for good places to eat. The person also allocated us a covered parking space which was very conveniently close to our unit. The exterior is very beautiful, and the place has everything you need. The only 2 negatives were: there was a water leak by the fridge on the floor. It was no risk for us, but with the plank floors it could result in unnecessary repair costs. The hot tub's motors cut out when you turn on the hot tub. In my opinion, the pump is too strong because it causes water to splash out of the tub onto the floor.
Friendly service - the place is tidy and the whole complex is clean and tidy! Would definitely recommend or stay there again myself.
We feel that the place was not geared for loadshedding, only 2 candles provided. Rechargeable lights or a backup generator would have made the stay more pleasant.

Very peaceful especially for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. Is only 5 km from the town center but there is a Fresh Stop, Quick Spar and gas station just around the corner. So many things to see and do, a weekend is too short. We will visit again soon!

I recommend Abalone Lodges anytime. Although the caretaker is very unfriendly. Someone friendlier should welcome everyone's arrival. Also, take you to your unit. The cleaners are the winners there. Very friendly and nice to talk to! During loadshedding, our candle was running out, we had to use our mobile phones for lighting. Overall, Abalone Lodges are good accommodation.

We had an amazing 3-day stay. It's close to everything, ± a 5-minute drive to the Knysna waterfront. Bosun's Pub & Grill is right around the corner, walking distance for breakfast, lunch and dinner or just drinks. They also have Wi-Fi, which isn't mentioned in the description. There's a little basket in the kitchen with coffee, tea, sugar and Cremora. Ironing board, iron, hairdryer and hangers are also provided for convenience, and candles for loadshedding. Kitchen has also been redone, with new kitchen cabinets etc., photo's need to be updated.

Had the most beautiful view of Knysnameer from our bed. Als was neat. Just some advice: Since load shedding is here to stay, maybe they can invest in a rechargeable light. There was a candle, but I'm always afraid someone will knock him over in the log house. Other than that, it was fun!
The cabins are very neat and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Quiet time is 9pm and no music is allowed at all, so if you looking to "kuier" this is not the place for you.

Plekkie is very beautiful and has a beautiful view. Only thing we are not happy about. Manager's attitude is unnecessary and immediately on the attack, after they didn't have to clean the room, and then cleaned, but half a bottle of wine was taken and nothing else and when we asked, they apologized and then asked if we expect back So his attitude and way of dealing with people is actually all the problem we have.

Very neat, small place. Beautiful view. The toilet cubicle is extremely small and if you are tall you will not be able to walk in there or sit comfortably. There are no cooking facilities in the cottage itself, but there is an outdoor braai a short distance away.
We really enjoyed Abalone. The luxury wooden house was beautiful, neat and everything in working order. Good service also received with ladies who regularly come to clean your place. The bed could use a bit of an upgrade, but otherwise it was very comfortable and nicely laid out, the view is beautiful and it's a bit out of town which makes it nice and quiet.
Kitchen was very small and lawns could do with cutting but besides that everything was neat and we had a very comfortable stay.

There were only 2 things that were a bit disappointing. No grilling tools (tongs etc.). Small cups (we are coffee people). It is self-catering, but the goodies are usually available at other self-catering places. Saturday night there was a lot of noise at the lagoon area, loud music etc. This is of course out of your control, but was a bit disturbing. Other than that we really enjoyed it and would recommend it to family and friends.

We were 2 couples staying over at Abalone Villas and we had everything we needed. The wooden cabins was very nice and had a very nice setting.
On arrival the greet was friendly and warm. The lodge was nice and clean. The next day service is great as they come and clean your space, which is not what we expected as we clean after ourselves, but that was nice to have. Peace and quiet was great. Would of loved to make use of the pool area, but the weather wasn’t allowing for it unfortunately. All in all. I’m definitely going back.

We stayed for a 18th anniversary. Our cabin was between other cabins but we felt quite secluded. We spent a lot of our time on the balcony enjoying the view of the lagoon. We also made use of the braai facility which was really nice and clean and the complimentary wood was a lovely added bonus. On our last night there the wind was pumping but we were nice and cosy in our cabin. Really good value for money.

Reception was of excellent service, the accommodation was exactly what we expected. Space was enough, and the perfect place to stay for relaxation.
We were booked into Abalone Lodges for 4 nights. The location is quite central, ten minutes from the Waterfront area. One was received very kindly and our unit was cleaned daily. Security was a priority for us, as we were touring with our bikes. They have a security gate and a security man who supervises every night. There are braai facilities and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need.

Everything is excellently clean and tidy, cleaned daily by staff. Everything works, hot tub, air conditioning makes it so comfortable, parking on site, undercover is reassuring, with night guard at night. Very central and safe.

Location is poorly located. The idea you get from pictures is that it is in a quiet environment.
In our opinion, it is a well-maintained, extremely pleasant place to live. It is really ideal for two people who like order and care.
A room with a view. An unobstructed view from the room and/or balcony on Lake Knysna, Theissen Island and The Heads. Well equipped unit with all the basic necessities to make the stay worthwhile. Not suitable for persons who have difficulty climbing stairs.
Facilities were adequate, but very small especially the kitchenette area. Only seating area was on the balcony and the chairs were uncomfortable and it was extremely hot between 4-19h30 pm where being in the room or balcony was unbearable.
We had a great time staying here for 2 nights for our honeymoon. Als was pretty clean. The place also has a very nice view and is safe.
This place marks my 2017. Enjoyed my stay so much at Abalone i will definitely return in the near future. Would have loved the TV in the lounge see that we had a kid with us. I don't want to mention the spectacular views we had, I was glued to the window and balcony. Night manager was very helpful when we needed help with our TV. Great place and keep up the good work.
Even though we were there for a quick evening, the sunset over the lake was breathtaking and the stay was very comfortable. The spa bath made me feel relaxed. Perfect for one night or three!
I think we had a big chalet. So the kitchen was spacious and equipped with all the necessities. Child slept on the sleeper couch. Lovely view. Neat and clean. Negatives: According to the internet, the check in time is 11:00. They asked us to leave and return at the right time upon our arrival at 13:00. The Jacuzzi didn't work. And the water wasn't very warm.
Definitely will come back.

Location close to town ideal, but also far enough. Self catering but would perhaps prefer an optional cleaning service. Maybe to come and renovate the bathroom and get clean towels, but that didn't bother us much.

Hubby and I went to Abalone Lodge on our 20year anniversary weekend. Upon our arrival we were greeted and shown to our accommodation in a very friendly manner. When we stepped into our room we were pleasantly surprised with the gesture Abalone went through to make our stay special: there were lovely pink roses, chocolates, and a bottle of sparkling grape juice ready and waiting for us! In the bathroom they put rose petals all around a nice spa bath. Tip-top service from them made the weekend even more special. A big thank you to all the staff at Abalone Lodge!!!
