Abelia Place is located close to the WPCC, which was very convenient for us. Our stay was comfortable and Joy and Mike were great hosts - they accommodated us in every way. The tray breakfast was perfect and we would definitely stay there again if we need to be in the area for school sport.

Booked this place on behalf of a running friend of mine who needed accommodation close to Two Oceans ultra start. Feedback was that Abelia Place was just what they needed and they really enjoyed their stay. They enjoyed the breakfast every morning and liked the small kitchenette where they were able to prepare their own lunch and dinner. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was comfortable, and the hosts were pleasant people. Occasional problems that I reported were resolved quickly. The location of the accommodation was convenient for the amenities that I needed. There was limited parking space, but we were able to work around that with goodwill. The property did not have a security gate, but this did not worry me; I took it as a sign that this was a safe area.

It was very good for the price. WiFi internet was just awfully slow, but so was the phone's data itself, so not sure if it's just the area. The blinds in the kitchen cannot close completely, so someone can easily gain access and peek in from the outside, as there is also no gate at the entrance, therefore only 3 stars for safety.

We thought we had booked a room with a seat in the garden, but were initially given another room. Luckily it could be exchanged. However, both rooms smell very stale, probably because of the carpeting. The further hygiene also leaves much to be desired. The owners were friendly. Had breakfast was good.

The neighborhood is nice and quiet. Parking space is a bit small. The room is tidy, equipped with Wi-Fi (which works) and DSTV with all channels (none of my 'favorite' sports missed).

My daughter and I, who had to come for a ballet audition at Cape Town City Ballet, found Abelia Place very cute. It's a spacious room with 2 single beds pushed against each other, small kitchen, large bathroom, nicely open exterior door. The welcome was very friendly, thank you Joy, and they also brought us delicious breakfast buns the next morning before 6 o'clock to take with us to the airport. Thanks for that. A few comments maybe: Joy said there is hot water for the shower, but I left it running for quite a while with no success, so maybe you could just look into that and maybe put in a gas geyser instead please. I personally also think it would be nice to see photos or paintings of the Cape on the walls, which puts you in the excitement and mood of the Cape for your stay. We didn't need closets for our clothes for the one night, but I see there is a small hanging closet and chest of drawers, so I don't know if it's enough for a long stay, but Joy will make a plan. I also want to say that at night Joy can hear them talking in their house and in the morning as well since only one door separates the house from the room. I suggest maybe hanging a thick rug on either side of the door to muffle sound more, but it wasn't too disturbing. It was wonderfully close to everything, even eating places down the street, the Ballet Studios 3 km away and the Ballet shop also about 3 km away. We even had time to drive 6-8 to the Waterfront and enjoy the culture in the beautiful quiet afternoon at the harbor. Thank you Joy we definitely recommend your place and will possibly stay there again if we have to come. Blessings.

We were most surprised when we were told the beds are not made over weekends as the housekeeper does not work weekends. We assume this applied to the cleaning of the B&B too.

There are many things that were unacceptable to me. Firstly, there was no safe parking for my car, and the badly lifted bricks in the driveway are quite alarming. The room was incredibly hot and stuffy and smelled very badly of cigarette smoke. There was no fan or air con. There was also no toilet paper, and the toilet water was brown and had a smell that caused the smell to linger in the room all the time. The bedding was also yellow in color and had long seen its days. I stayed a week, but nowhere was there room to unpack my groceries, with the result that I had to live out of my shopping bags. Because the room adjoins the house, one can hear every word spoken there and early in the morning the noise has already started. The advertisement says the institution is 3 km from UCT which is not the case, it is much further. I checked some of the previous guests' reviews, and most complain about the same things, but I can see that no one is making an effort to improve it.

Located in Rondebosch, it was very easy to find from the airport and just what we needed for our one night short stay. A nice sized room. The owner was very helpful (we only arrived around 23:00) and nice filling breakfast served to us in our room. If we need to be in that area again, we will stay again.

Joy is a friendly, chatty hostess who personally brings you breakfast with a cheery "Good morning!" Nicely situated in the well established suburb of Rondebosch, nestled in the shadow of the mountain, with easy access to the main routes to the city centre and other places. There could be some improvements which I am personally going to send to her.

This is a quiet and homely place, which is more like a spare room than an established B&B. The accommodation was comfortably and cost effective, yet overall not a traditional B&B experience one would be normally be used to.

Felt uneasy about security - rickety gate on stable door with glass panel. No gate to secure driveway and premises. Towels were stained and had unpleasant odour.

You get much more than what you pay for. Our room was made tidy every day and if we needed something we could just ask. We will definitely stay there again if we come to the Cape again and highly recommend them. The location was also perfect as it was out of the traffic and in the middle of most of the attractions. Very neat and clean.

The cutlery and mugs were not clean. I am a non-smoker. The guest before me clearly smoked as you could smell it distinctly. I also found a saucer full of ash. I will not go back and not recommend it to others. One day they removed the towels to wash them and didn't bring them back.
