91 guests' feedbackWe used 2 of the cabins for a family visit. Anita was very friendly and even arranged champagne for us on our arrival as we were also celebrating my mother's 80th. The site is clean and tidy and the cabins are very well equipped. There is a water hole just outside the yard where we could see animals, nice clean swimming pool and lapa with an honesty bar. It was a very peaceful visit. Also drove around the entire reserve on the self-drive routes.
We are now the fourth time there and it was a great vacation, like always.
I would recommend this place to anyone with great confidence. Incredibly nice stay with peace for your soul. Lovely people who make sure their guests are comfortable. Beautiful, neat and clean facilities with everything you need. Nature is around you and the silence is audible. Nice pampering and with cleaning services every day! Felt private and could rest wonderfully. Excellent getaway if you are tired of the hustle and bustle of life.

We really enjoyed Abendruhe. Personal involvement and service from the owners who live on site makes a difference. The owner manages the game drives himself and it is very interesting. We were particularly lucky to see rhinos on the road, as well as elephants. It was also nice to see smaller animals. A recommendation for the kitchen is a "plunger" or a coffee machine. Abendruhe is, as the name says, peaceful, and that's what we wanted. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. The braai on the stoep is very convenient and we also had a great time in the boma around the fire. There were often various animals at the water hole.

Our hostess Anita welcomed us with open arms, even with all our extra requests. The unit was very neat and well furnished with everything you need. The wooden houses have a beautiful view of the forest and waterhole. We would definitely recommend Abendruhe Lodge.
The personal service and warm hospitality of Gunter and Anita is simply unbeatable. We like to go home in the double-storey wooden house which offers good privacy and is nice and spacious. The cottage is very clean and well furnished - even toothpicks and barbecue salt are provided. The units are serviced daily, so you can rest comfortably. Wood and drinks can be purchased on site. Gunter's game drives are always a highlight and we were properly spoiled with delicious freshly baked muffins during the morning drive. This time we were also very fortunate to see a cheetah mother and babies right in front of our accommodation. There is a forest TV (water hole) with various wildlife that visit regularly, a sparkling swimming pool for warmer days and plenty of play space for the children. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
Very close to PTA, the log house was exceptionally neat and clean and the owners were very friendly and hospitable. Everything you could possibly want to make it easier at a self-catering unit was available. There was nothing missing.

The weekend was perfect, the most beautiful place ever!
Anita and her husband who are incredibly friendly and helpful. The accommodation was in a wonderful condition, everything was neat, clean, beautiful and in perfect working order. There is everything one needs, water, double-ended plugs, hair dryer, boma area and much more. The area is beautiful and quiet. There is a water hole and animals that drop by during the day. It's definitely a place I can confidently recommend and to which I will go back again and again.

The double-storey family unit is spacious and cosy; also very well equipped for self-catering. Gunter's game drives are very interesting and educational. There are only 4 chalets on site, which adds to privacy and tranquility. Friendly owners who go out of their way. This was our second visit, but certainly not our last.

Abendruhe is a very beautiful place in the middle of the forest. Our visit was definitely too short. The hospitality was warm and welcoming and we immediately felt at home. Thank you, Gunter and Anita, for a perfect evening with you. We'll see each other again soon.
Although our weekend visit was quite limited due to inclement weather, we still enjoyed a fantastic break at Abendruhe. The cottages are better equipped than one would expect and the owners go out of their way to ensure that guests have a pleasant time on Abendruhe. We will definitely go back again and can recommend the lodge to other travelers without a doubt.
Of the steps how to get there it was done with extreme precision. We were warmly received by Anita, everything was explained to us very nicely and everything was thought of to make our time there the best. The game drive was also longer than we thought, but Gunther made sure that we learned absolutely a lot about the forest, the wildlife and it was definitely worth it. Anita and Gunther really made sure we were comfortable and also stopped by. It feels like you've made new friends. The cleaning service was definitely a bonus too.

We really enjoyed the weekend. Only 125 km from Benoni and you are in unspoiled nature. The cabins are fully equipped with everything you could need including air conditioning and full package DStv. We spent a wonderful weekend here. We ended our weekend with our engagement. The owners, Gunter and Anita, are amazing and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The chalets are five star with a view over the pond where the animals drink. We saw a lot of wildlife and also experienced how three lions tried to catch some blue wildebeest. We were a family group of 7 adults spanning 3 generations and we all agreed that our 3 days spent at Abendruhe were totally enjoyable. Anita and Gunter are lovely hosts, getting the balance just right between friendliness, space and privacy. Their knowledge of the local wildlife and nature is outstanding and the early morning game drive with Gunther is highly recommended. If you want to get out of the city, don't want to drive too far and want to enjoy yourself in the middle of the forest, this is the place for you. With the best and friendliest customer service from the staff. Then it's also close to Mystic Monkeys, if you want to play with baby lions. The location of the place is the most perfect place to relax and watch the wild animals all day while the kids swim.
What an amazingly gorgeous and serene place this is. Our expectations were exceeded from a chalk board welcome at the entrance to experiencing a home away from home. 2 nights is definitely not enough and we can't wait to go back. From the moment we drove up to the gate, we were treated like princes and princesses entering their palace. The accommodation was clean, well stocked and tastefully decorated. The hosts were warm and welcoming without encroaching on our privacy and they made us feel as if we owned the place ourselves. The complementary tea, coffee and braai wood was a wonderful touch to the overall generosity and kindness we received from all the staff. I would recommend it to anyone wishing to explore this lovely part of the high veld. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely choose one of the chalets against the wire boundary, because then you can watch wildlife from your veranda. Take a folding chair and drink and 'camp out' at the watering hole around sunset.
The lodge is beautiful, but the stay was unpleasant because of the service really, it was bad from the minute we got there, the was no proper welcome greetings done and we were not giving any tour around the lodge when we got there, but the next day when other guests came through they were given a proper tour, the owner (male owner) of the place was never able to speak to us appropriately on our day of arrival, there was no electricity the whole evening from 19:00 pm on Friday which was when we got there.

We had a great stay and the customer service was excellent. Anita went out of her way to make us comfortable and happy. The air-conditioning in the house saved our lives. We will stay here again in the future!

Accommodation is offered in 3 tastefully decorated log cabins sleeping 4 guests each. The lounges are equipped with a TV with DStv and each unit features a spacious deck with braai facilities. There is also a Loft Cabin that can accommodate 6 guests.
Please note that there is no separate, second room. A swimming pool, lapa and Wi-Fi are available for guests' use.
Every wooden cabin has its own private boma and covered parking at the unit.
Dinokeng has a variety activities such as game drives, restaurants, hot air balloon rides and a brewery available for guests to experience.
