Staff is very helpful and friendly too. I absolutely hated the English breakfast. They never asked how I wanted my eggs. Bacon is the most important part of an English breakfast, but the bacon they gave me was as thin as a piece of thread and as dry as charcoal. One slice of toast with butter almost as thick as the slice itself. One cheap, sour vienna. No fried tomato. No baked beans or any sauce. The juice they gave me came in a dirty jug and I never even touched it. I had nice coffee though.
Although the place is old you can't complain. Good value for money.
The reception was very good and the staff friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate us with the times we had to leave and return to the premises. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Acre Of Africa was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They just need to clean up the bathroom better and there were a few dirt stains on the walls. Once that is properly cleaned then it would definitely be a place I will stay at again.
We booked a queen deluxe room with a balcony view according to what we selected when we booked, but we didn't get that room. We got a basic small room with a double bed and a small shower, no bath, the room was near the parking area. The entrance of the room is ugly and weird there is a steel door from the parking area like you entering a shack house, you pass through that door and then into the glass sliding door.
They ask R100 extra for aircon remote. Very rude reception. No remote to move in and out of the premises. Wait a long time at the gate for someone to open.
WiFi password that is provided in room opposite guest house name, does not work at all and when we asked about it next day, then the answer was that the name is something completely different. Aircon did not work, apparently guests have to pay R100 extra but we were never told that. Very limited TV channels, Openview very powerful. Hot water hardly runs at all, and shower's water hardly runs out! While we were still packing they came to count the towels etc to check if there were any, very poor and I would not recommend it to anyone!
The WiFi has no reception in room no 14. But it wasn't too bad. Very nice clean and tidy. Will sleep over there again if we have to go to JHB.
We were surprised with the comfortable room and beautiful garden. Kar was relatively safe inside the compound.
Proper lighting everywhere, beds were good enough. It would have been more convenient if there was only a small amount of milk available. Sweets that were available. was nicely presented and one felt at home. Room was very clean and very tidy. Communication about gate opening as soon as you need to move in and out can be worked on as soon as you check in at reception. Pillows were a nightmare, they were completely mushy and terribly uncomfortable. It is value for money offered, quiet enough to get a good night's rest. Very friendly staff.

We were looking for overnight accommodation close to O.R. Tambo and 18 km into Boksburg was Acre of Africa and we could sleep peacefully and be rested for our early flight the next day.
We had a very nice stay, I suggest just providing bigger coffee cups.

The place is so beautiful, clean and full of life. The staff is well trained to provide the service required and the welcoming was warm.
The fact that it is out of the way of all of the main places in Johannesburg. That is also why I would recommend it.
The following recommendations: not all the bulbs are in working order. For people who are there on business, the lighting is too poor when we still have to sit and work in the evening. For ladies, the lighting is too poor to apply make-up. 2 bags of milk per person is the minimum, not 3 bags of milk for 2 people. We were not served tea bags (Five Rose or Rooibos). Only coffee. There is a red button in the room with a label of R25 sur-charge when you call them out. We only arrive in the evening and then you see the light doesn't work. It is not fair to make the client pay for services that should be in place. Now the customer bites in discomfort to escape a R25 argument when you leave. These are small things that will make one's stay easier. I would still recommend the accommodation.

Good accoommodation. The lighting is an issue though, no light at the vanity and room light isn't very bright. Defective shower head, water spurts into the ceiling and entire room gets wet.
When we arrived we were told that the correct beds were not in the room and that they would only be able to fix it the next day. We booke a "family bed" and one single bed - there were 3 single beds. Power kept going out the first night, couldn't use the heater. If you shower and other guests open the taps the water pressure drops ... struggled to take a prober shower. Bed issue was only fixed the third night.
They didn't have my booking on the system or my proof of payment. I paid the deposit, but they insisted I pay the full amount before my second night there. I was under the impression that the balance can be paid along with the other extras such as the mini bar, when leaving, but they were adamant. Breakfast was not impressive, I've had better for R400 a night. Room was neat but the TV only had SABC and eTV. Aircon worked, bathroom was neat. I didn't get an invoice from them, though I forgot to ask for one. One would think, however, that it's standard practice. Wouldn't go there again.
We had a good stay, everything we needed. The only negative thing I could mention is that the room's fridge didn't work, the coffee and milk they provide in the room was probably past their sell-by date. My wife had the breakast and wasn't impressed, would rather have liked to eat elsewhere. It is the small things that can improve your stay, and they should pay attention to it. But as for the rest we can't complain, as mentioned, for the price we paid I think it was good value for money and more than sufficient.
Conveniently located close to the Boksburg pool. My son competed in the EGA-short bath championships and that was only 1,3 km from the guest house. The facilities are neat and clean.
