Africamps at Mackers - An incredible glamping experience. Africamps at Mackers completely exceeded our expectations. The tent houses are beautifully and luxuriously furnished with all the modern amenities one needs, including a comfortable bed, fully equipped kitchen and a lovely private veranda with a breathtaking view of the Sabie River. The surroundings are peaceful and perfect for nature and wildlife lovers. We especially enjoyed the hiking trails and the nearby attractions. The host was friendly and helpful, and made our stay memorable. Africamps at Mackers offers an ideal getaway for those looking for a combination of nature and comfort. I can highly recommend it and will definitely return again.

The road from the turn off to the camp is not suitable for Sedan cars.

"Not what we expected."

We hoped it would be a peaceful weekend break to the beautiful tented camp you see in the photos. We did not expect every possible area around the tents to be used by anyone. So children run and shout and ride their bikes all around the tents. There is absolutely no privacy. Unfortunately, our tent was also the one that had the most suitable fishing spot within 2 meters right in front of the tent. The tents are indeed beautiful and quite well furnished, there are a few things that will need attention, e.g. proper sharp knives to do food prep work (we had to use my husband's Leatherman) The freezer facilities are too small, so let guests know to bring extra facilities if needed. A small microwave oven would have been nice too, seeing that there are other luxuries such as air conditioning in the tent. The bathroom was anything but clean, the toilet area smelled of urine, which most likely seeped into the wooden floor and the white surface of the shower had partially discolored to brown. I thought it was due to age, but with "sanitiser" cleaned a section in no time pure white just to confirm that it was dirty. Then you get a set of rules with your check-in information, don't expect to be obeyed by guests at all. We already had to ask the children at the pool to turn down their loud music on Friday afternoon and get the camp manager the same evening to come and turn down the people's music, while the rules spelled out very clearly: No music allowed. On Saturday night the music was audible again, not as bad, but still. So overall our experience was not good.

If you are looking for peace and quiet then I would suggest AfriCamps in Hazyview. We were welcomed by Romeo the security on duty who was so helpful and friendly. The following morning the owner came and check in on us as well. Very beautiful and peaceful. Will definitely recommend it and will be returning soon.

The only suggestion I would like to make is that the tents against the river have the most beautiful views, but it is spoiled by the tree that fell next to No. 9. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the tree lying there, but its branches spoils your view of the river. If you sit at the braai, you see nothing of the river. Then the long grass at the tents ─ I know it grows very fast along the river, but it looks very unkept. If you can only maintain it, the accommodation is 100/100. Will definitely go there again.

This natural jewel could not have been chosen as a better place to sit back in absolute comfort from the moment you arrive and immediately enjoy nature. An osprey swooped in front of us in the Sabie River and a kid curiously dropped by in the late afternoon. Neat tent with clean linen, everything you need in the equipped kitchen and then Michelle who welcomed us with a firm handshake. I was impressed. This getaway was absolutely worth its salt. I recommend AfriCamp at Mackers anytime for those who want to rest. Thank you AfriCamp at Mackers!

"Glamping ten top."

The stylish design of the stents and the enchanting locations (in this case on the banks of the Sabie River) form a top combination at Africamps. Contact with the owner went well. Had requested breakfast and was placed in the fridge the day before. The dirt road to the tents can be reached with a simple sedan vehicle. The little honest shop was handy for wood, water and other foodstuffs. A nice base to visit both the panorama route and the Kruger Park. Also worth mentioning: beautiful swimming pool with a fantastic view.
