We overnighted at African Dawn on our way home from Robertson to Johannesburg. Dawn is a gracious host who made sure we were well cared for. The room was clean and had everything needed for our stay. We were grateful for the aircon as Calvinia is a dreadfully hot place! Our breakfast was good. No complaints.

Dawn at African Dawn's attention to the little things in the rooms and extra effort to call and make reservations for dinner and the effort with breakfast is exceptional. Would highly recommend and return again.

Dawn was very friendly and helpful, advised us to a restaurant for the evening and made the reservation herself. Our first visit to Calvinia 2 years ago was not so pleasant, but the story has definitely been rewritten and we will definitely stay with her again if we have to travel through Calvinia again.
Friendly and individual service. The owner made a reservation at the local restaurant on our behalf. The availability of meals on the premises is a plus. The unit is very well equipped. We were provided with bottled water, as the area had water problems and restrictions because of the drought. It is in a quiet area. The owners are very helpful and able to answer any questions.
This is the second time we have stayed at African Dawn and will always return there. Their hospitality and the cleanliness of the place are of the highest quality.

It was just extremely hot and the air conditioning was struggling to cool down the living unit. We suggest installing a second air conditioning unit for the large space.
