We came on a very busy weekend and could only book the Standard room. We were told that the luxury are much better. Nothing wrong with the standard but the mattresses do not offer the best comfort though!

The accommodation is clean and tidy, but for the rate you expect working WiFi, a carpet on the floor and a chair in the room. The mixed knives and forks and plates also show that no attention is paid to detail. Even the DStv package does not fit the price range.

To be able to use the bedside lamps, you have to plug them into the wall yourself, but first move the large, heavy four-poster bed away from the wall. The freezer was off, although they knew we were coming, so we could only get our meat, soda and milk out of the cooler box the next morning. Before our friends arrived the next day, I had to show the cleaning girl myself how to remove all the cobwebs from the bathroom ceilings. The cutlery was dirty. The windows, curtains and inside the cupboards are also dusty and full of cobwebs. Our bathroom does not have a toilet roll holder and only one toilet roll for the whole weekend. No dish soap or washcloth available and only one teaspoon. The air conditioner only works for the living room which leaves the room quite stuffy. I asked several times for the key to unlock the door connecting the bedroom to the porch, but unfortunately it was still locked. Our friends only stayed one night but paid the same price as us (for 2 nights).
Our time at African Rest Lodge was particularly enjoyable. Lovely stay, food and staff were very helpful. The surroundings are beautiful and the pools were a nice cool down after a hot day. Can definitely recommend.
We enjoyed the relaxation, the children enjoyed swimming and playing, will definitely recommend this pretty place.
Great place to unwind, value for money. The manager went out of his way with professionalism to assist us. The establishment has two beautiful pools with great views to choose from, a restaurant to eat from if you don't feel like cooking, a nice covered braai area. The self catering accommodation was spacious, clean and well equipped (I suggest to add a table with chairs in the private patio).

I would recommend to have the following: to create separate patio's for the rooms with chairs and tables and have activities for kids in house (Volleyball, cycling paths, game rooms).
African Rest Lodge owes me money, has not paid back at all and they made the mistake with my booking.
African Rest Lodge got the booking wrong. Specifically request for two separate rooms with air conditioning. Even called to confirm. When we got there at 19:00 there was only one room available. Reception asked us to have something to eat while they tried to sort it out. By 20:30 with a struggle two rooms were given without air conditioning. Insisted on air conditioning and was again moved to another self-catering unit and then had to share a room. Very inconvenient situation. Fridge was also off so couldn't even put in a cold water. Really a disappointment.

The fact that the restaurant can only serve breakfast to order and no other meals was a problem. My understanding of information available was different and we did not provide for dinner. All the doors in the unit could not lock and the unit offered was different from the unit we booked. The location is poor with no other amenities in the immediate area.
