Very nice stay even if it was only one night. If you want to get away from the city and seek silence and nature, this is the place for you! It is fully equipped with everything you need. We were spoiled with milk, cheese and crackers. We will definitely book again for longer next time!
I was very welcome with homemade cheese and fresh milk. Outstanding.
Padstall has friendly staff end nice products. The cottage was very clean and neat, and my 2 doggies enjoyed themself in the fynbos. Recommend it highly.
Beautiful view of the sea and field. Nice and quiet and blissful. Cottages are very well equipped and the people still spoil with extras. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Excellent value for money.
What a lovely surprise it was to meet Alta at Afsaal paddock with a bag full of treats and food from the shop. We immediately packed a delicious afternoon picnic and looked out over the plain to the sea below. We are 2 sisters who grew up on a farm and the silence and tranquility was wonderful and relaxing for us. With the power cut (loadshedding) the 2 nights we could enjoy the beautiful sunsets over the sea and then look at the most beautiful starry sky. The cottage is beautifully furnished with the most beautiful woodwork furniture and beautiful decor. The pampering of 2 bathrooms was delightful and the private view from the porcelain bath to a courtyard with plants is truly romantic for a next romantic getaway. Just remember please. to ask Alta about the gas geyser and if it is on. Fortunately, at least we know about gas cylinders and how to start them. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

We had such a lovely stay at Afsaal. One night wasn't enough. We sat on the porch with that beautiful view the whole time, watched a magnificent sunset and then a full moon rise. Saw the many birds enjoying the garden in front of the porch. Alta spoilt us with delicious preserves and bakes from the padstal next door. Our dogs loved it there, just note to bring tick repellent during tick season. Will definitely return.
The accommodation is excellent and the people who manage and maintain the place even better. We were spoiled with free food and drink. The cheese was exceptional with the flatbread. The Sunday dinner at the paddock was excellent and the people who make it all possible are so friendly and helpful and certainly know how to serve the best food. I will definitely go there again to relax. Many thanks to everyone who helped make it such an unforgettable experience.
Perfect Location! Perfect for dogs! And the fact that you have a paddock next to you you don't have to drive anywhere for food!

People are hospitable, provide milk and cheese, biscuits on arrival, also have a very nice paddock for fresh bread and so on.
Our stay was most enjoyable and our two dogs loved it as well, the property as a whole is fenced and there is a small secure fenced area behind the cottage to leave the dogs when you go out. The cottage is technically brand new and has everything you could want for, no DStv though but we went for the peace and quiet so that was a blessing. Inside and outside braai. The owners also have a restaurant/deli within 75 m of the cottage and its perfect for breakfast and lunch. There is a beautiful view down towards the ocean and the sunsets and dawns from the front porch are spectacular, hit the dirt road down to the sea (SUV or something with a bit of ground clearance) and you can be at the beach in 10 minutes. The veld/fynbos in front of the cottage is virgin and there is abundant birdlife and we also saw meerkat, hares and lots of tortoises. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to go back in winter.

It was absolutely blissful, with lots of additional extras, from a loaf of freshly baked bread, to 4 different cheeses and 2 liter of fresh milk. The facilities are fantastic with a big fridge and ample freezing space should you stay a little longer. It was heaven with only the sounds of nature around you. Very safe and padstal next door, should you want to take a break from cooking.

Thanks Alta. There were 4 types of cheese in the fridge, a bottle of wine, biscuits, a packet of crisps on the fridge and 2 liters of fresh full cream farm milk. I also had my parents sleep over on Sunday night. You see us again.
Afsaal Cottage accommodation exceeded my wildest expectations; the cheese, the rusk, the cleanliness and Alta's hospitality to name just a few things. The paddock next to it provides delicious food and trinkets. An unforgettable visit.
The house is so stylishly equipped with everything you might need. The view is something truly special - it feels like you are the only people on the West Coast. We were pleasantly spoiled with delicious snacks from Afsaal-padstal! I will definitely visit this cottage again if we are in the area again.
We were urgently looking for accommodation for a month for sub-contractors and accommodation was scarce. This accommodation was in no way suitable, no mobile phone signal or any signals, once "house keeping" for whole period of a month, road terribly bad-need 4x4, asked in advance if accommodation is suitable for 3 men, 2 single beds were unloaded on arrival . We wanted to cancel the reservation, but were informed that the beds purchased would be deducted from our deposit. A total nightmare!
We just want to say a big thank you to Alta. It was peaceful and we immediately felt at home. The jam that Alta makes is top notch. The chicken pies were like my grandmother makes them. Alta will see us again in the future for sure, thank you very much.

Sweetest places full of surprises. From the wine and cheese in the fridge to the treats on the bedside table and practical goodies such as a camping cot and even a doghouse for the animal children. Don't forget to ask for a freshly baked loaf of bread at the paddock. Owners are friendly and go out of their way to help with any queries.
Afsaal Cottage is one of the nicest getaways we have ever had the privilege of staying at. Alta was a host of the very best kind. There were many small touches which made us as a family feel very special. We will definitely be back.
For a getaway from the city, this little place is just right. Some would probably dislike the gravel road, but it was part of the charm for us. There is a lovely view of the ocean and the West Coast sunset from the veranda. The unit is well looked after with all the basic necessities for preparing meals. Would definitely stay at Afsaal again.
