51 guests' feedbackTwo weary motorbike travellers bunked down for the night in a welcoming and clean lodge and room. The lounge area was cosy enough to rest their weary bodies and enjoy a few nightcaps before hitting the single beds (requested) for a peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast the next morning was hearty and healthy.

The L'Agulhas region is a gem to be treasured. The guest house feels like home and fits beautifully with the often, moody winter weather. It is exactly what we expected at the price point.

Candice was very hospitable and had a great time with Phil, the owner. The room is full of character and everything very comfortable and clean. We would love to return for a sea view room. The choices for breakfast were large and all deliciously prepared.
The Lodge is well located in L'Agulas close to restaurants and attractions. The owners (and family) are hospitable and very friendly.
There is no price attached to how beautiful the view is. Living museum with rich history in a beautiful coastal town.

Unfortunately, the place cannot be recommended for older guests. The wooden railings are unstable and the wooden railing on the inside of the building is partially down. There is also no help with the luggage.
Absolutely amazing views and even better location on ghost corner, it was a spectacular stay.
We also had to leave early for a quick fishing trip which the original plan was not for my partner to go with but we both then went on the last minute and there was no notebook to let someone know that we will come and pay our bar tab when we back from the fishing trip.

Everything all good, I am a sports fan just expected DStv sports channels on DStv decoder for the price that was paid one would expect this, OVHD offers no sports, also no bar fridge in rooms to keep our drinks cold, it was annoying walking from the the room to the fridge at the bar for cold drinks, other than that it was perfect.
It would be nice if there was a lamp behind the chairs, to be able to read in the evening, the addition of a coffee plunger pot would also have completed the visit.
Although we enjoyed our stay at the lodge, the physical structure needs work. Our balcony railing was loose which is a major safety risk. Breakfast was nice, but compared to other accommodations, the rates may be a bit high for what you get.
Poor service, over price, not 4 star at all, stained unironed linen, old stained towels, pathetic reception from manager. Extremely weak!
Excellent service, very clean and tidy, top notch breakfast. Lovely room facing north with sea view and letting in the winter sun. Know etiquette and information about Guide dogs from the SA Guide Dogs Association. So mine was excellently received.

Ons was op ons wittebrood by Agulhas Country Lodge. By ons aankoms is ons meegedeel dat die DStv nie in werking is nie. Ek voel dat mens vir die bedrag wat vir 2 dae betaal is, sal verwag dat sulke goed vroegtydig gesorteer sal word. Die dame het voorgestel dat ons na 'n ander kamer verhuis, maar ons verblyf was so kort en 'n mens wil nie jou tyd mors op wittebrood wat van kamer na kamer beweeg nie.

The food is fantastic and the service great!
It is a stylish and cozy place by the sea with nice rooms and a delicious restaurant with good breakfast.
The reception was weak and impersonal. We waited a relatively long time to be helped although only we were there at the particular time. The room was clean and very comfortable. Lock to outside door not working properly. Breakfast was off the books.

We were unfortunately very disappointed with a kitchen staff member who rudely indicated in a very loud voice that "They always have something to complain about" after the breakfast guest manager indicated to her that the boiled egg she had made for me was not soft. What was really upsetting was that we had stayed there for 4 nights and had not complained once, and with this particular incident, we hadn't complained, it was a observation made by the breakfast guest manager, which was then discussed in the kitchen in very loud voices as if I had said it. The breakfast offered that morning when the owner wasn't there for the day, was also very disappointing in terms of what was offered the couple of days before and it was clear that we being the only guests there for the day were treated as not important. The following morning when we checked out, I had to bring it up with the owner, who then says, he knows about it, and will have a word with the staff member, and it was very clear to me that he had had no intention of bringing up the incident, if I hadn't decided I needed to. I thought it was handled very poorly and will not recommend this guesthouse to anybody, if that is the attitude.
As soon as we stepped in, the breathtaking location, and friendly and helpful staff immediately made us book another night (where we originally only booked for 1 night). The dinner must be specially mentioned because it was absolutely delicious! The beautiful surroundings and waking up to the birds chirping will definitely make us come back again. We found our resting place away from the hustle and bustle. Great location, great rooms, great staff!
Our rooms have the most beautiful view of the sea and were well equipped. The bedding was of good quality. There is a lovely bar and "cigar lounge" where one can relax and have a drink. Sue Fenwick is an amazing chef and her dinners are some of the best! Fragrant and beautifully presented! The breakfasts were delicious.
Although the price is a bit high, I can recommend it without a doubt. The people are pleasant, and there is only a road between the Lodge and the sea, although the beach is some distance away. Room was spacious, clean and with a beautiful view.

We stayed here on new years eve 2011. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, no sea view though, but has lovely sea and hillside views from the semi-private porch outside the room. Breakfast was fantastic!
