The customer services was absolutely amazing and friendly, my room was super clean and neat. Their shuttle service is convenient. However, it's quite loud during the night and into the early hours of the morning, which makes sleeping quite difficult if you have an early flight the next morning.

Hi. REF. Room 233 (or 223). ► We had a super stay, the food and coffee was great and were well looked after. ► The nights were truly disturbing and frustrating due to the mattress on our bed! It made a loud cracking sound whenever my wife or I turned or moved during the night. We were certain that the room next door was also disturbed. Please attend to this problematic mattress
Very convenient place to stay when using the airport. We left our vehicle with them for 10 days while away.
It was exactly what my two grown children and I needed. Bed and breakfast. The management and shuttle driver were friendly and made our stay very comfortable.

However, the room had a funny smell (savlon) and we could not open windows because there were no burglar bars in front of the windows. The shower head didn't work well either.
There was a problem with the power at the guesthouse. The host tried to accommodate the guests using generators.
It was conveniently close to the airport. Shuttle service was efficient and included in the price. Note, if required before 5am, there is an additional charge. Accommodation basic but everything worked. Staff were friendly.

Not very pleasurable. My wife and I usually sleep together on a double bed and here it was two single beds pushed together! There was not enough milk and sugar for the coffee and there was no tea available.
At least I slept, but the place needs serious upgrading. Curtains and bedding full of holes and the place does not smell fresh and cheerful. I would have appreciated at least a small bar fridge and microwave, but there is nothing. Also no milk to drink your coffee with. If the owner puts more effort into his rooms, he will always be fully booked, he is perfectly located to spend the night to be able to fly next dsg.

The lekkeslaap site described it as a two bedroom, four bed family room. What we got was one room with a double bed and two single beds. They only provided two towels and reception was closed so we could not get more. The bedspread was tattered on two of the beds and the one single bed had bugs, my friend slept on top of the beadspread and still woke up with bites. None of the lights had light bulbs and only one of the plugs was working. The shower was so hot that we all got burned even though we tried to adjust it to a managable temperature it just kept getting hotter. Definately not a three star stay. The only posiitve was Wilbeforce the driver that picked us up from the airport was friendy and very helpful.

My wife and I stayed here for one night to catch a flight to China the next day. We were very impressed by the friendly and accommodating front desk staff. They have a restaurant that serves delicious meals which is very convenient as you don't have to order food from outside. The lamb stew is absolutely divine! They offer a free airport transfer which is great.
The guesthouse is conveniently situated close to the airport and Emperor's Palace. This makes it the ideal place to stay, should you have to catch an early morning flight, or if you have to attend a conference or write an exam, which has been scheduled at Emperor's Palace.

If ever a venue went beyond the expected, then it was the great staff at this venue. Because of strikes and breakdowns affecting Greyhound bus schedules, we could only get to the inn at three in the morning. The receptionist was so pleasant and understanding as we had to arrange later, and later arrival times and made it possible for us to still have a few hours rest after a harrowing experience by arranging that we give a staff member a wake-up call on our arrival. The prompt response to the wake-up call was notable, and the friendly reception and help offered was unique in our opinion. The breakfast was great, efficient and served in such a simple, but pleasant and friendly way that it rounded off an altogether great experience. Well done to all at Airport Inn Bed & Breakfast and Emerald Guesthouse. Ps. The paint of the shower ceiling in room 217 needs urgent attention.
A thank you to the staff who made for a relaxing, stress-free travel transfer for me. The gardens are lovely and the kitchen and front-of-house staff are so accommodating. The pool is lovely and clean and the backup electricity system for Eskom was great. Your shuttle drivers are great, and I so appreciated this service. Keep it up - and I hope you go from strength to strength.

For our purpose the location was perfect, otherwise I don't like the area. The room is livable. Enough for one night.
I would put out a towel for each guest. We also had no hot water to shower at all. Not late at night when we came in, nor in the morning. However, the service and cleanliness are great.
It was a safe little haven with enough to explore for kids from the observation deck to the bunnies and the goldfish.

A definite stay if you need to catch a flight at OR Tambo. Also preferable to park your car at the venue instead of at OR Tambo. There is a shuttle to take you to OR Tambo.
Very convenient location and everything you need for a quick overnight stay for a flight. The shuttle service and the option to leave your vehicle there is a smart additional service. Parking is just awkward for very large vehicles.

On arrival everything seemed fine, but with dinner they did not comply with our request even though they agreed to comply with our request at reception where we booked and ordered food. In the room where we stayed there were constant footsteps up and down in the room above us, until late at night and again from 4 o'clock in the morning. When we got up there was no hot water when we wanted to take a shower at 6am. I reported to reception and they came to check and confirmed that there must be something wrong and gave us a key to another room on the other side of where we were staying to take a shower. We had to take our necessary clothes and toiletries in the cold to the other room to use bathroom facilities. This bathroom also only had hot water for a few minutes and then it was freezing cold again.

Was a little bit disappointed because all guests left without taking a bath or shower. I reported at 8 before check-out time and was assured that 2 hours would be enough and that there will be water in the rooms. No one came to check if there was water or even asked when we checked out.
Was very cold and the heater did not work, but the reception provided us with a heater. It is understandable that places cannot provide full facilities due to the restrictions caused by Covid. The shuttle service was a welcome relief in helping us to and from the airport.
Our plane landed too late, so we couldn't catch the shuttle back home. Airport Inn Bed & Breakfast and Emerald Guesthouse was the ideal solution - it's so close to the airport that you can watch the planes take off and land from an observation deck. The rooms are neat, with the basic amenities you need. A delicious breakfast was included, and we could also order our dinner. Willem and his staff were very hospitable and friendly.

Very close to the airport and perfect for a night or 2 sleepover between flights. Rooms are clean and tidy. The owner/manager was very helpful and makes a lot of effort to make your stay as easy as possible.
Happy to stay at Emerald. It's basic, safe and comfortable. The shuttle service is very efficient and generally service was friendly and prompt.

Was left outside for long, nobody opened for us and there was no hot water when showering.
A few specific things were not up to standard. The van that picked me up at the airport was extremely dirty inside. The seats were full of stains and marks and also broken. The floor was smeared with mud. Breakfast was served in the room in a polystyrene container (believed to be due to Covid). It consisted of two fried eggs, two very small pieces of bacon, one slice of toast and some fried mushrooms. The container had three partitions and a plastic knife and fork were provided. There is no way one can eat this type of food out of such a polystyrene container. There are no plates of any kind in the room, so, for example, one has to spread the bread in one's hand. I have stayed at eight different guest houses across SA in the last two months and at each one breakfast was eaten in the dining room from real plates and with real knives and forks. And then there were also things like breakfast cereals, juice, jam, sauces, etc. available. At Airport Inn, there was none of the latter in sight. The DSTV remote control is attached to a cable which is too short and which makes it very difficult to select the DSTV channels (because the decoder is halfway behind the TV screen). The remote also didn't work properly and wouldn't change programs many times. There was no bottled drinking water in the room. Bottled water was available at reception at a steep price. Overall, the room has a shabby look. The location is right across from where international flights depart from OR Tambo airport. The noise when the larger planes start their engines can be quite unbearable.
The reception was friendly and helpful but the place could improve in terms of accommodation conditions. The warm blankets in the closet are also tattered and worn, it's time for them to be replaced. And the room at least needs a fan, it gets very hot and stuffy in there.

My wife and I spent the night here. Reception staff extremely hospitable and helpful! Receptionist introduces us to the secure vehicle parking option. Much cheaper than the long-term parking at the airport itself! We immediately decided to do it. On Sunday evening, the driver who picked us up at the airport offered to drive ahead of us, so that we could get safely onto the R21! Thank you very much for the extra mile you walked. It is really appreciated.
I would recommend Airport Inn to any Candidate Attorney writing the Admission Exams at Emperor's Palace. The staff at the guesthouse were very kind to transport us to the exam venue with their shuttle. This reduced a lot of stress, as we could leave our vehicles at the guesthouse, which enabled us to only focus on the exams.

I went to write entrance exams at Emperor's Palace. The team at Airport Inn offered to take me and my colleagues there in their van and pick us up at the airport afterwards. It reduced a lot of our stress. I can recommend Airport Inn to any candidate lawyer who has to write entrance exams at Emperor's Palace.

We had a very nice stay. All that was missing was a fan in the room.
I found the shuttle so very convenient, especially as a single woman. Staff were friendly, food was basic but fine. I felt I was back in Africa, it felt good, lots of international people staying from all different walks of life.
I was received very kindly. The room was comfortable and clean and the security seems good. But I was also able to order a very nice dinner, which was delivered to my room and the next morning they had a shuttle available for me to the airport and a small breakfast pack at no extra cost. Will stay there again.

Just stayed one night there. The maintenance of the gardens is not according to my standards. The grass is cut but the edges aren't and the little shrubs aren't maintained in the garden beds. Otherwise, I was happy with them.

We overslept for a second opportunity. I booked 2 rooms and were again booked next to each other. The extra care means that I will use the accommodation again. The rooms were neat and comfortable. I would recommend that the breakfast area be enlarged. We had no place to sit on Sunday morning and had to wait for tables to open up. There were also other people who had to wait for tables to open up.
We were kindly received and oriented about the layout of the accommodation. The rooms are big enough. I booked 2 rooms at various times and they put us side by side which was really appreciated. The rooms where we stayed are nice and private and overlook the green lawn. We can also sit on the veranda and watch the planes take off from the airport. I would perhaps recommend that the lighting and switches be looked at as well as extra parking.

It did bother me, however, that we got a room with two single beds when we asked for a room with a double bed. Luckily we were so worn out from travelling that we didn't have the energy to make a fuss about it.

The main thing was to stay overnight near the airport at a reasonable rate and it worked. Parking was a bit far from the room and the linen clean and whole, but no longer new and fresh. Ideal for a practical overnight facility.

Very peaceful and quiet environment, even though it is close to the airport. As a cycling group, water bottles that must be frozen for the race were helpful in freezing 16 water bottles for us. And take us out early in the morning. And to provide breakfast packs - already ridden early in the morning, maybe only for cyclists e.g. put in a banana, bun, cold meat, juice, yogurt. Too much fruit on an empty stomach is not very good. But other than that it was delicious.

Reception said that breakfast packs would be available from the manager, but there was nothing available in the morning.
The place is safe and convenient near the airport. I would stay here again. My flight was early and unfortunately there was no one on duty to let us out before 5 o'clock, maybe just letting guests know how to get out of the grounds. Then please room 1 where we spent the night, the tap at the sink please. be bound, for he is loose. And then please clean the "extractor fan", it's dirty.

Lots of stuff in the rooms is broken, no parking, breakfast not good and there are no staff members to help.
Got there at 10pm. Walked from reception to room in pitch dark. The duvets on the beds were old and faded. The sheets were thin and almost washed out. There was no soap in the bathroom. There were no bath towels, only half size. The shower was dirty and the water flow poor. The worst was the toilet. The seat was broken and dirty. At breakfast there were no tablecloths on the tables and guests had to cover themselves after the meal. At least staff were friendly and the shuttle service to the airport good.
It's my third time back at Emerald. First with a friend, then with friends, then with family and and all of them and I loved it. It's also safe there. I also got a quick response. Definitely will recommend it to others absolutely.

Emerald Guesthouse was really affordable and met all of our requirements - a warm bed, shower and great clean linen. The breakfast and free shuttle service were a wonderful bonus! I experienced the management of the guest house as unfriendly and not taking responsibility for the situation. There is a lot of blame placed on others where I personally as a guest have no interest in the stories. After waiting over 50 minutes for the hourly airport shuttle (I was ready at the pick-up point 10 minutes before the hour) and two phone calls later, I was pretty disheartened. The management blamed workers and did not take responsibility for the situation. I didn't have a very friendly reception either - all small aspects that count a lot in deciding whether I will visit a place again. The accommodation was very basic and average - there was a lot of noise and I was lying awake from early due to the person upstairs moving around. The breakfast was below average. I missed kindness and hospitality in my experience. I will definitely not be returning to Emerald Guest House again.
After my previous less than good experience, I was pleasantly surprised with the friendly, competent staff at reception. Room was almost cramped but livable - after a 16 hour international flight you don't feel like running around the room. We had a nice stay and the service was good.

Bedding was dirty (the soil and dust was apparently from the wind), no kettle in our room although there was coffee. Pillows were very hard. Bathroom was very small (apparently aimed at quantity and not quality). No breakfast, even though we were promised it and paid for it! I would rather suggest that one spend a little more money and look at other options. Bad night's rest.
It's quite unpleasant to arrive dead tired, after a 17-hour flight from the USA, in a place where you have to spend the night and you are "welcomed" by a rude, unfriendly man who does not know a single word of Afrikaans or don't want to talk and then you still have to hear that there is no record of your booking or payment. If I didn't have a copy of your confirmation of my booking and payment with me, I'd be on the street. Never, as in never again will I stay there.
I would expect much more from a 3-star guest house and I can't believe that the tourism board could rate Emerald with 3 stars. The room, but especially the bathroom ceiling, was covered in mold and there was a strange smell. There are no towel rails for used bath towels and the tiles in the shower look disgusting. I took a cold shower in the evening and in the morning and that in winter. The note that they switched to a new gas system is not acceptable because it is clear that the new system is not working. Everything looks shabby and substandard. Very small room with a double bed for 1 person. At breakfast there was cold coffee in the coffee machine and no hot milk. Sweeteners poured into a container are labeled as Stevia, which they most definitely are not. Just jam for the bread. What about cheese for the diabetics? Bread is served in the bags just as it was bought. No napkins. Where is the personal attention in the dining room? I was really embarrassed for the tourists who were there because I know what their standards are.
I will definitely be back soon. Free transport to O.R Tambo airport from Rhodesfield cant described other than saying "duidelik"! The receptionist, called Justice, made our stay! He made us feel welcome everyday with his attitude of "as long as you are happy, I'm happy" - it was lovely!
The guest house is very conveniently located, close to OR Tambo Int Airport. Rooms are very neat and clean. Food was delicious! Friendly and hospitable atmosphere.
We really appreciated that they provided a shuttle service to and from the airport, because that's exactly what we needed! The room we stayed at was very clean and neat.
I loved my stay at Emerald Guesthouse. Was very suitable for my large group and the breakfast was amazing. Clean rooms and good variations on the room types. Friendly staff, I will definitely be back again.
Location and shuttle service were convenient. Rooms are very small, and the heating was not working in some. Food to me was terrible.
We were kindly received. The room smelled of smoke. We feel that they could perhaps upgrade the bedding. It was clean and tidy, we can't complain about that. However, it is well located when you need to be close to the airport.

It was very nice. I would have preferred a clear option of a double bed - I thought I had booked it that way but will ensure I specify in future. Breakfast could be managed a bit better - food was good, however there was nobody around to assist or greet etc.
