Very friendly hosts. What was amazing is that they catered with something as a traveller you'll experience is either a headache out of nowhere or road indigestion or stomach issue. There were Panado tabs and Eno as well as a welcome refreshment and something sweet with coffee. Towels were super clean as well as bedding.
We stayed at Alcyone for a week and it has been a wonderful experience throughout the duration. From the booking process to the warm welcome at arrival by the hosts. The only challenge I had was to decide whether to go to the beach daily or not, because it's just a walk away. And it's definitely my home again the next time I visit PE.

It is a new guest house but is already equipped with better and more facilities than are normally found in a guest house in this price range. There is a king-size bed in a particularly spacious room with a comfortable bathroom. All kitchen equipment is there to prepare a meal for yourself. There is a micro wave oven, a regular convection oven, milk and cold water in the fridge and even 2 beers! Furthermore, there is a box of tissues, cookies and biscuits - everything to surprise someone. Everything and more that a traveler desires. It's also close enough to the sea and excellent value for money! The owners also came to greet us before we left. You are stars!

Alcyone is very well located for visiting Somerstrand, the University which is a stone's throw away, as well as the many places to eat and attractions. It is very peaceful and relaxing. All amenities you could need. Babette was very friendly and helpful even as a real estate agent with our urgent search for accommodation for our student children. You probably can't find accommodation closer to Nelson Mandela University. Very well located for parents and students coming from elsewhere to register etc. Alcyone's accommodation units can be linked together for larger groups but are still individually fully self-sufficient.
Three adults and 2 children fit comfortably in 2 connecting rooms, with separate fridges and fully equipped kitchen. I didn't want to pay a fortune but didn't want to give up any of the essentials to have a quality holiday with family, and Alcyone was perfect for us in that respect and close enough to the sea too. I am very satisfied. Enjoyed the holiday very much. Barbette was also always warm, helpful and friendly.

We stayed at Alcyone for 33 days. We hadn't heard about the guesthouse before and ordered it on line. We were made very welcome by the hosts, and they looked after us the whole time. We liked the backyard very much - it was separated from the hosts' private garden, so we felt it was private too. We had a rental car and we had our own parking space at Alcyone. The guesthouse is just 15 minutes' walk from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. The street has lots of traffic during daytime, but we didn't see it as a problem. We recommend Alcyone.

The Studio Apartment can accommodate a maximum of 2 people. It comprises a queen-size bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and a well-equipped kitchenette with gas hob, bar fridge, kettle and microwave. Note that this room cannot be configured with single beds. Other facilities include a smart TV with internet access and a Chromecast device that can be connected to guests' smartphones. From your smartphone you can stream any of your apps, such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ or the DStv app on the TV. Please make sure that you have the relevant apps installed on your phone.

The second unit (Little Addo) is furnished with a king-size bed or 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Please let us know when booking if you require single beds. The main unit features an open-plan kitchenette with a gas hob, microwave, kettle, fridge and toaster, as well as a dining area. Both units are equipped with a smart TV with internet access and a Chromecast device that can be connected to guests' smartphones. There are 5 self-catering units, the Lighthouse Suite, Addo Suite, Beach Suite, Little Addo Suite and Studio Apartment which can each sleep 2 guests per unit. Each unit is equipped with a kitchenette, a smart TV with internet access and a Chromecast device, a dining corner, and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower.
