49 guests' feedbackIt was ideal for what we needed: a bed and a hot shower. This, for someone looking for safe wide open spaces, is just the place. The Sunday night meal by arrangement was to die for.
It was a first experience for us on a guest farm. Brenda welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed, including a cup of fresh farm milk. Peace and quiet after a hot day on the road, with the occasional bleating of a little lamb in the background, confirmed that we were spending the night on a "working" Karoo farm. The accommodation was comfortably furnished, clean and tidy and typical of a genuine Karoo farmhouse. Definitely a very nice experience.
Had a great time, also walked around the farm a bit. Very friendly reception, and the braai pack with roast cake dough and one salad was an absolute winner!

Accommodation was comfortable, clean and tidy and the tranquility of just enjoying the silence of a Karoo farm after a long day on the road is too nice. All the basic amenities are available and the accommodation is stylish with a Karoo character. Brenda is friendly and there to welcome visitors and make sure everything is in order. The sunset is something special and on a cloudless night the stars are too many. Hanging out on the porch with a view of the mountains and plains remains special.
It was quiet and nice. Worth it if you just want to get away. We traveled with dogs, and it was a little difficult to take our dogs outside without their one dog being aggressive.

What a lovely, neat, little cottage. Met all our needs. Two rooms ideal for a family with small children. Braai area neat and tidy and awesome to braai and chill at. Owners where so friendly and accommodating. Truly a lovely visit and we will be back again soon.
If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, this is just the place. Well furnished and tidy place. Had a wonderful stay. Remember it's a dirt road of 9 km which can be slippery when it rains. Thanks for good communication.
Would recommend Allendale anytime for people going over slack. Very nice farm and very quiet area.
If space is needed to strengthen the soul again, this is one of our recommendations. Food is never a problem for Afrikaners. Tasty and quite enough or maybe normally too much.
Nice peaceful farm feeling. Water had been a problem so could not shower. Luckily we had water with us and were able to cook. Hostess apologized. I understand, but they could have sorted it out or let people know earlier that there was a problem. It was very cold in the mornings and hot shower in the evening and morning would be appropriate. A few things were suspended that one would want to use. Frying pan, pan, ladles. But we made the best of it.
Quiet, fresh air and definitely worth a night's sleep. Would recommend, such a beautiful landscape.
The kitchen is very basic. The braai pack was delicious, especially the homemade bread.
We enjoyed our stay and Brenda was a very good host. The kitchen was not really equipped for self-catering, but the room and bathroom was spacious and comfortable.
The accommodation was excellent. Everything was beautifully clean and tidy. The activities on the farm were not disturbing at all. Graham made us feel very welcome and at home. The games and reading materials in the cottage are a good idea. The farm is beautiful and offers many opportunities for walking.

Cozy apartment with everything you need, together with the Karoo farm's silence and open spaces, within reach of Graaff-Reinet and Nieu-Bethesda, makes Allendale an ideal place to stay - with surprising wildlife as a bonus.

Beautiful cottage on a working Karoo farm. The silence is wonderful after a long day on the road. Brenda Murray's leg of mutton that we had waiting for us for dinner was incredibly delicious. Ensure a MUST! Would definitely recommend Allendale.
We had a nice overnight stay in the clean and well-equipped cottage. Brenda received us kindly and provided a delicious dinner of soup and fresh, home-baked farm bread. We had a great time relaxing on the patio after a long day on the road and enjoying the peacefulness of the farm.
We were very warmly received by Brenda Murray. She also made a lot of effort in advance regarding attractions in the area that we wanted to visit as well as when we wanted to enjoy dinner. We ate a delicious dinner and slept very well. I recommend Allendale Farm Guest Cottage.
It is very safe and peaceful and will use the accommodation again if we go on holiday there. There may only be firewood available for purchase as the town is quite far.

What an absolute gem of a getaway after a long day on the road, with a barbecue fire and delicious meal waiting. The quietness of the farm and the beautiful decor of the comfortable unit really make this guest house a place to remember.

The cottage is beautiful and offers good value. The braai in the Karoo is the ideal way to kick off a holiday. We will definitely visit here again.
We were warmly received by Brenda. The place is so convenient. We can walk freely on the farm with Steffie, the farm dog! We had a lovely quiet barbecue on the stoep that evening. The meat pack, salad and griddle cake dough were provided by Brenda. What a great idea! Everything is of high quality!

Accommodation is cheap and clean. Mesh in front of the windows and doors would be nice. There are many moths, bugs and mosquitoes in the summer. The porch in front of the chalet was dusty, but the chalet itself was quite neat and clean.
