It is a perfect breakaway, where you can unwind and relax next to the pool while watching game drinking from the waterhole, or go on a hike enjoying the peaceful surroundings, the clean air, blue skies and San rock art. An old ruin dating back to the time of the Anglo Boer War, 1898 to 1902, can be found on the farm and it is perfect for taking photos. Night time is best where you can enjoy a braai or relax around a bush fire, listening to the sound of a jackal calling. Birdlife and wildlife such as eland, gemsbuck, hartebeest, blesbuck, springbuck, ostrich, waterbuck, blue wildebeest and zebra roam the farm.
We offer spacious, luxury en-suite bedrooms with sliding doors opening onto the pool area. Air-conditioning, DStv, a bar fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, a lock-up safe and a hairdryer are all available. The honeymoon suite has an en-suite spa bathroom. There is also our luxury self-catering chalets with their own small bomas for barbecues, that can accommodate eight guests per chalet. There is safe undercover parking and pool area.
A lovely small chapel and a function hall form part of our facilities where weddings, conferences and functions can be held.

Upon our arrival we were warmly received by the hostess. Even though there was load shedding, they spared no effort to make us feel welcome. We were never aware of load shedding because the generator was always ready. The boma was such an asset where we could look at the stars until late at night.
This is one of the very few places I travelled to that the pictures don't do it justice. Our host was amazing and went above and beyond. The place was extremely peaceful and the ideal place to just relax after a full day. The meals were beyond delicious and the care in preparation of the food was evident in its presentation and taste.
The owner goes out of his way to make every guest feel at home. We properly recharged our batteries.
We were the only guests and it was Mother's Day, so I believe the owner did his part for Mother's Day and took over his wife's duties for the day! So we understand, to some extent, the problems there were, but for the price, which is almost equal to Bona Bona's rates, it's really not an excuse. The fridge and TV did not work. No salad bowl. No milk for coffee. We sat in the dark for an hour before the power came on. In the morning with load shedding there was no water pressure and we could not take a shower. The road was very bad, but probably the rain's fault. These are all things that can happen and therefore we would still recommend the stay.
Friendly welcome by the host. The accommodation was great. Air conditioning, TV etc. are available in chalet. Delicious breakfast useful.

The farm is beautiful after good rains. Just a pity that the game was shy.
Because of the road I could only stay one night, it was scary to drive 22 km on a dirt road. No cell phone reception you slide, stuck all the way, I had to look for other accommodation. Worst was I owner said I am a woman alone with my child. Owner was friendly and place neat, but I didn't get value for my money.
For a safe stop if you are traveling from Cape Town to Gauteng, Sun City, Pretoria, Almar is ideal. The peaceful nature lets you relax after a day of travel. When the sun goes down you can sit and watch the animals come to drink water while the fire is ready to grill a sausage.

We stayed over at Almar for two nights while exploring Bloemhof dam. The accommodation was clean the owner was friendly and helpful. Although the farm is 20 km from Bloemhof it was defiantly worth the drive.
We just want to say a big thank you to Louann and Michelle. We all had a wonderful weekend and it will be a weekend that will always remain in all of our memories. Thank you also for organizing the pony ride which the twins really enjoyed as well as the nice game drive - next time I will bring my camera, and when we have another family event in the area - you will definitely see us again.

Very disappointed with the tariff for the room and the food bill was a little high for the meal and normal wine.
Initially they phoned us to change our accommodation, but it was fixed and we were really impressed with our self-catering house. The chef's food that we ordered was very beautifully plated and very very tasty and good. Will definitely book there again!

There is a 20 km dirt road to the lodge. People with a regular car just need to be aware of that. The dirt road is not bad and if you drive slowly your car will handle it, however I believe if it rains a lot it will be a problem for a normal car. Other than that, it's absolutely worth it.
Customer service was fantastic. Rene carried us on his hands and before we could think to ask our wish was already fulfilled. Tasty meals. Very nice and neatly maintained. Would only recommend air conditioning in bedroom. Thank you very much, once again!
I had a great time with my husband, it was a second honeymoon well spent. Going back there during the winter holidays with the kids.
It has been a long time since we experienced such efficiency and hospitality. Right from booking until we left. Rooms are very clean and well equipped. Staff is wonderful and Lorraine is an absolute star. The food was wonderful and well presented. A wonderful braai by Louaan on New year's eve toped it off nicely. If you need a break from it all, this is well worth it.

From the outset, including the booking and advance arrangements, was great. What we expected, we got and more. Almar is a clean, tidy place and ideal if you are a hunter. The dirt road there is not bad and everything needed is there. Jackie had been very good.
A great place to stay if you love wild life. The location is not so great but our stay was. The customer service is impeccable. The place is absolutely clean, including the rooms. Overall rating I would give 4 out of 5 stars.
