Yes, it was a nice break.
This was my second visit to Aloe Ridge and I was very excited to share my experience with others. However, I was dissapointed in the up keep of the place. The light switch was broken, I was told they would come fix it the next day and they never came. The one shower floor was very dirty and the baths in both rooms were not cleaned. One of them cut her toe on the bottom of the pool as there were holes that were closed but not smoothed out. On our last evening, DSTV stopped working. Other than that, we enjoyed swimming in the river and the comforts.
Stay was enjoyable and peaceful. The place needs regular cleaning and fumigation. Personally, I feel that the sink should have been in the kitchen, not way over there, fifteen steps away. It's inconvenient.
The view was spectacular. The chalet itself is very nice. Nobody helped us with our luggage. Nobody welcomed us at the chalet itself, only very quickly at reception. The chalet was full of spiders and cockroaches. The chalet was also not cleaned properly and all the bins were not emptied. However, we did have absolute privacy. The road was in a very bad state. We loved the setup of the chalet. We will, however, never go there again!
Aloe Ridge has everything you need to relax and sleep with a fantastic view. The roar of water was food for the soul.
We were four adults visiting in the winter. The fantastic view, spacious rooms and fireplace were good for rest and relaxation. It was too cold to braai on the stoep. It would help if you could bring your own dry wood as the resort only had wet wood. Our hostess was quick and helpful when we had problems with hot water. Highly recommend. Just remember that regular sedan cars with low suspension can't actually drive there.
Value for money. It was delicious.
Ideal place outside the city to recharge your batteries. Love having your own pool on the deck.
A few things put me off.
The whole ambiance of the place was worth the trip.
Beautiful view. The place had it all: a pool, WiFi, a river and fishing facilities. It was very nice.
Was very nice. The bath water did not get hot. When the gas was replaced, at least the shower got hot.
Reception was very friendly and immediately came to greet and provide necessary information - cottages were nice and clean, grateful for wood and lightning at both fireplace and barbecue area. Wish we could have been there more during the day, the scenery around the river is exceptional, we are already planning our summer break with friends so we can make better use of the pool/braai areas. Just some constructive criticism: there were rats/mice in one of the houses, we live on a small holding so know that houses in the field area tend to get visitors - maybe just look at it. Batteries in one of the remote bearers look like a dog chewed them. The sofas in our little house are a bit worn out - maybe time for new ones. (Kilimanjaro).
I will definitely return. It's very beautiful. All problem was signal and I'm Vodacom. Which is very weird. Because Vodacom always works, even if it is loadshedding. Difficulty now and then to get hold of reception for assistance. There was a snake by the outdoor shower. So I would recommend that the bushes around the house should be removed a bit, that's up to the house's walls. And the water prevented one from being able to bathe because it is brown and cold because it works with gas. So there is a shortage of hot water. But I love the place apart from those mistakes. The dirt road up there and up to the houses is terrible. So next time I have to come with a 4x4, because a normal standard car will definitely get hurt on the dirt road and also the road from reception to your house. But still I love Aloe️.
Units were spacious and reasonably equipped, but they were not clean and the units looked as if they needed maintenance urgently. The units were well situated, but the river was choked with aliens and there was no access to it. Would not return or recommend it to anyone.
Very nice and spacious unit (Drakensberg) and we could have fun on the large veranda with braai facilities and swimming pool. The view of the Breede River is picturesque.
We always look forward to staying with Aloe. The children really enjoyed the pool. I have had so many inquiries about our destination after posting it on my status and know of quite a few pals who have also booked now. Definitely come again.

My second time by Aloe Ridge and I just love it. My favourite is the fire place and the wife's is pool and braai area. Love that you can sit outside on your own balcony and watch the river.
Just what we needed from our busy life in the city.
The place needs attention. Woodwork could do with sanding and a new coat of varnish. The place needs paint. Lots of cockroaches. Living room furniture will need to be replaced, it is tired and broken. Bedding could also do with new ones. A deep cleaning is recommended.
The reception was friendly and the tranquility of the river and the birds made us breathe again. The setting is unforgettably beautiful and the view from the unit was a real bonus. The unit was clean and tidy and spacious, but some of the kitchenware could be refurbished.
The houses, layouts, facilities etc. were very good and provide over and above what one needs for a holiday. We were 15 friends and booked 4 houses for 2 nights and the accommodation, location and views were tremendous. We all felt, however, that the units are a bit tired and in need of a good touch up in terms of maintenance, general upkeep and a lot of cleaning! Whilst clean bedding and linen is supplied, the general state of baths, floors, cupboards, crockery, counter tops, cooking utensils, trays, boards and so on, is in great need of a spring clean and, in some cases, replacement. We appreciate that times have been tough with Covid, but cleanliness is paramount.
Lovely 2 bedroom unit with all the amenities. The dishwasher was blocked and it was immediately attended to and the machine changed. Great service very hospitable and lovely if you want to get away from it all for a while. the pool is maintained daily.
The unit was modern and very well appointed. The majestic Bree River was a sight to see from our deck. The pool was a welcomed benefit to our stay. My wife, 8 months pregnant, loved it. Glad I chose to stay at Aloe Ridge for our anniversary.
Gas geysers need some attention.
I would recommend Aloe Ridge yes, its just the spiders and the scorpions freaked me out a bit. It would have been nice to have been given a heads up about it. We found 1 scorpion by the swimming pool and another by the bath, and 3 very evil looking huge spiders. The ants were also ridiculous. We still enjoyed our stay, we loved the view and the peacefulness.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely book there again. Thank you for the hospitality.

Directions were good and they welcomed us warmly. The unit was neat and very spacious. View of the river and nature were breathtaking. The sound of the water was very calming. Would suggest that the main bedroom's mattress gets replaces and that a scissor is added to the cutlery.
Had a truly amazing weekend with my wife, the location is excellent for a very peaceful, romantic and worry free weekend. Would go again anytime.

The place is located in an incredible place, you look out over the Breede River from almost all windows. Very relaxing and perfect getaway. Would recommend not to go with a car, the last stretch as you are at Aloe Ridge is very bad. Otherwise I wish we could go there every week!

We had a great time at Aloe Ridge. Drakenberg was so to speak perfect with the lovely fireplace, braai and pool on the deck. The en suite bathrooms are stylishly done. Only downside was that one of the rooms' bathroom's water was only hot for a few minutes and then it became freezing cold. So we then had to abandon our en suite idea and share a bathroom with our friends.
The place is really tasteful and luxurious, with everything you could want for a nice, luxurious getaway from the hustle and bustle. The last stretch on your way to reception, however, the road is very bad and I would not recommend it for a regular sedan, which does not have high ground clearance. The only negative comment I could make is that the gas ran out the night after the cut-off time for calling the maintenance staff so we couldn't use the stove or hot water for the shower the next night and next morning.
It was the best and most beautiful place to stay. The staff are very helpful, you can press their button at any time and the accommodation is beautiful. This is the place to go and relax.

Thank you for a wonderful breath-taking weekend in nature away from the city's hustle and bustle. The house is really well equipped with all household appliances that one needs for a nice break and the private pool is of course a big plus. Chané's friendliness and helpfulness from the time she welcomed us to our departure was also excellent. Just note, as mentioned in the ad, that the last kilometer or so of dirt road is not suitable for a car with very low ground clearance, although I experienced no problems with a Toyota Avanza.

Thanks for all the wood that is part of the discussion. Service was excellent, Cherne helped us very well and the house is extremely beautiful, luxurious and comfortable. The ice in the freezer is also a bonus. Here we could switch off and relax. Nice walking trails along the river if you are tired and rested. You have to take the dirt road slowly with a normal low car, but it's worth it!

At Aloe Ridge what you see and read is exactly what you get. The location is stunning. We stayed in the Everest house and everything was perfect. Will recommend Aloe Ridge to anyone looking for a relaxing time with friends or family, a nice braai and nature's tranquility. Rooms are convenient and clean, and the kitchen or living room is equipped with everything you may need.
Stunning view of the hills and the river. Just sad that the water level is so low. Swimming pool, inside and outside the house all clean. Although there was one tap with a filter to purify water for drinking, we recommend that you bring your own drinking water too. Drive slowly with your vehicle. We can't say anything else negative about Aloe Ridge, because it was great! Thanks!
Very nice place to relax, none of the hustle and bustle of the city or car sounds, only the beauty of nature! It was absolutely wonderful to be able to recharge your batteries here!
Very nice place to stay for me.
I would highly recommend Aleo Ridge. It's in a beautiful setting, the service was excellent and the staff very hospitable. What I would suggest is that guests take their own drinking water with them at all times.
It was out of season and we paid lower rates. Love the houses, but the cutlery needs some attention (make sure it is clean) - previous guests don't always do the dishes properly. Braai grills were rusty, we couldn't use them (needs attention) and the gas geyser in the main bedroom doesn't function properly - got the idea that the lady knew about all of this. That said, we had a very nice time, very comfortable, lovely pool at each house. Pay Aloe Ridge as visit.

The environment is breathtaking. The cottage itself was very well equipped and luxurious. I can't think of anything that was missing. The service from the staff was excellent. I plan to definitely come back here and bring lots of friends.
