This is a very good place to stay. Neat and clean.
Stay was nice, but I missed lumps in the bathroom, and the shower head was not there, so it was just a strange stream of water in the shower.

Really liked that the toilet and shower were separate. However, the TV did not have DStv. The box was there but it said that the package only had SABC channels.
Stayed for 1 night travelling back to Pretoria. The rooms were comfortable. I just maybe want to suggest to remove the carpets since this is pet friendly. The room had a strong sweet smell of carpet freshener. This is close to the highway and convenient to get on your route. The supper at the restaurant was very nice. The staff is very friendly. Thank you for allowing me to have Miki with me.

We were delayed due to bad weather, but the staff checked in with us to make sure we were okay. The room was very comfortable even though we only stayed for one night. For anyone travelling, I would recommend Aloes Guest House. There are also a lot of signs in the town to make sure you find your way as well.

The room was clean and tidy but very small, especially the toilet. Although there is solar power, only the lights and TV work during load shedding, but unfortunately the roof light was totally out of order. The information booklet in the room makes it look like breakfast is included in the price and although we realized on booking that it is not, it can't be that much trouble to pass on the correct information. There are better places that are cheaper in Middelburg.

Was a good halfway stay for us travelling from Durban to Cape Town. Bonus was having solar power as we checked in during load-shedding so to have hot water for a shower and be able to watch TV and relax after a long drive was great.
We were not really satisfied because the room smelled of smoke and we had noisy neighbors. We asked for another room, which the management did give us and we were happy with it.

It felt safe and was nice that there is a pool. I do feel that the maintenance in the room can improve i.e. plaster on walls and install a shower head.
Power went out around 6 o'clock. There was no one on site to assist us. We had to dial a number. They came to turn on a generator to provide us with water. We had no power. We couldn't shower or watch TV or heat food. It was extremely unpleasant. The generator also ran out of diesel. Actually, they should pay our money back. Also, no one called to apologize for the bad experience.
It's the perfect place to stay. Clean and comfortable and easily located to continue on the N9 one's journey again soon!

The unit was very neat and well equipped. The location is also good and the reception was very pleasant. However, fellow guests on the evening made my experience very unpleasant. There was a very noisy party until after 3:00 in the morning and because there is no staff present on the property, there was no control over the guests and no one to contact to quiet the guests down. I had to leave at 6:00 in the morning and only got 3 hours of sleep.
Will not stay there again. At least they could get a generator when they have guests.

The gate didn't work well, but otherwise everything was working and convenient. Good value for money.
On arrival we saw a puddle of car glass - obviously a car had been broken into previously. This fact made us very nervous regarding our safety. A good policy would have been for management to sweep up the glass - especially if we had children with us - they could possibly have been barefoot with all the glass around.
This is a must stop over accommodation in Middelburg - beautiful air-con rooms with a clean pool - the restaurant and service is top notch with friendly awesome people and a lovely menu - really enjoyed our stay.

Only negative is that the key is not at the same premises as the guest house, also had to eat at a different address than where the guest house is. Other than that, no complaints.

Ideal halfway stop between Gauteng and the Garden Route. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. And the air conditioner above the bed was heavenly on such a hot Karoo night.

I signed up with Celtis which is on the same premises as Aloes. I enjoyed dinner there with my family in 2016. The food and service were great. This year the service was also good but the food was shockingly poor. The onion rings and chips were overcooked, burnt and tasted rancid. The crumbled pork was overcooked and tough. I believe old or poor quality oil was used. On the way out, one could smell the smell of oil from the kitchen. I believe management was not aware of the problem otherwise they would have addressed it immediately.
Neat, clean and convenient. Has everything that is necessary for overnight accommodation. Arrived at 21:00 and reception was available immediately. Will definitely stay here again.
Service was good. Food was excellent. The room stank of smoke - it made the accommodation unpleasant. Location of guesthouse is directly next to the main route with trucks thundering past in the night, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep.
The room was very clean, neat and had everything you would need for overnight accommodation. The restaurant's food was excellent and it's highly recommended. We have a 9 month old baby. The owners had no problem allowing us to put an extra camp cot in the room without any additional costs. The only thing we would have liked was a bath, especially with the little one.
We had to advance our sleepover by one day - during the busy Christmas period. This was done with a lot of understanding and accommodation. Thank you.

We had a wonderful sleepover on the way back from the Cape. The one bedroom apartment we stayed in was very well equipped, and the linen and towels were nice white. We also made use of the restaurant: real farm food that we all enjoyed as well. The receptionist, Maggie, is not only friendly, but also highly competent.
A reasonable place to stay at BUT reception, kitchen & restaurant staff need to up their game and get better training.
We did not stay at aloes but at the main guest house. We were very well received, the room was beautiful, dinner at the restaurant was good and we really enjoyed it.
