We had to meet family coming from Uitenhage, so Plett was a good meeting point. Debbie was able to refer us to a good place to eat out, and she was extremely helpful. She was available after hours for us and the other guests.

You are obligated to read and follow the 1000 signs up indoors to tell you what not to do. On a busy road with taxis pumping music till late. The bed was comfortable!

The noise didn't work for us. When we got there, music was blaring loudly from one room. Other guests sat and socialized in the one common area until 02:00 in the morning, which meant we couldn't sleep. It was a mix of people who have no respect for shared spaces.
Wife and I checked into a backpacker for the first time in our lives for the sake of adventure. Our unit was equipped with a small fridge, a queen size bed and was clean and tidy with even a private balcony with a sea view. The other guests were quiet, peaceful and incredibly friendly.
We loved it here. Relaxed. All our needs speedily met. Close to the beach. Affordable. I loved it. Will be back in June. Wonderful. Exactly 2 minute walk to the beach, helpful manager (Ashley), accessible owners, laundry facility, kitchenette There is daily housekeeping which is great!

We were 4 adults and the place was just right for us, the space was big enough for all of us and served its purpose for our few nights stay.
Place is clean and tidy. However, not suitable for families who do not want to share facilities.

I realize that this is only a "backpackers" place, but with a few small improvements it would be a lovely place for a getaway!

If we can brag about 5-star service in our country, then I want to brag about Amakaya. Our reception by the owner Dave, the beautiful clean room, the neat kitchen and living area... The hospitality of Niel. The most enjoyable was meeting new people every day, mostly tourists from overseas. Amakaya is definitely back on our planning list for our next motorcycle tour.
Used the Amakaya Backpackers for one night's sleepover en route to honeymoon destination. The reception was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to someone who wants good value for money. Room was neat and clean!
Although the reception was friendly and helpful, the facilities cannot accommodate all the people who are taken in. This facility is not suitable for families - especially where there are young children.
