We were looking for a self-catering stay with all the amenities in a setting out of town and close enough to the surroundings. And this was Amberg. Our hostess was on hand and dealt with our requirements.
You find peace of mind between the mountains and nature. Incredible view over the Boland! A must for every traveler.

Beautiful place in a great location, designed and fitted with care and attention to detail. The unexpected bonus was the artistically styled decor, which is very unusual in the Western Cape. Host was warm and helpful.
The property is beautiful and very peaceful. We had a lovely welcome and Helga even managed to get our cottage ready for us before regular check in time. Swimming pool and lounge area was very tranquil. The cottages are well equipped with kitchen items and lovely patios to watch the sunset. The only downside on your cottage was the bed was two pushed together which was slightly uncomfortable and pillows were not great quality. A king mattress topper would easily fix this for people opting for non twin bed set up.
There are vicious dogs on site - I could not get to my car at night to get my charger. Absolutely no load shedding alternatives are offered. No curtains! DSTV did not work at all.
We absolutely loved our time at Amberg Country Estate! We were a group of 10 individuals the weekend of my wedding and we received the best service. Everything from the beautifully appointed cottages, the location, the amazing views and scenery, the restaurant, and the incredible service we received ensured that we will be returning soon. Helga, the owner, was an absolute gem. She was friendly, most accommodating, and made us all feel so welcome. Each room even had fresh flowers on arrival. Amberg is definitely a hidden gem that you must visit.

The residential units are very well equipped, with beautiful but comfortable interior decoration, and special works of art in each unit. We were received very kindly and our conversations with the owners were very pleasant every day. The view from the Mountain View Cottage over the Paarl Valley is breathtaking. We got takeaway from the restaurant which is on the same farm, and can highly recommend it.
Mountain View is small but neat and very well furnished. One fact that prospective visitors should note is that the unit is part of the owner's residence. This has affected privacy and there is not a parking space at the unit. However, what bothered me the most was the owner's 4 dogs, who barked after you every time you went for a walk, and the 1 dog tried to bite too. During the night the barking also woke one up. This is unacceptable and somewhat spoiled the stay.
The price for the Studio apartment is too high. The apartment is not visitor friendly and is tucked up against a barn. The other apartments on Amberg seem to be better places to stay.
Wow, the pictures on the web just do not do this beautiful Estate any justice. Clean and comfortable, superb, tastefully appointed furniture, a kitchen with everything you need and a great wrap around porch with awesome views. We will definitely be back. Super friendly hosts, this a wonderful place to sit back and relax.
