The cottage comprises 3 bedrooms, 1 of which is situated upstairs, 2 of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers. The 3 bedrooms are furnished with double beds. There are twin beds and a bunk bed in an open-plan bedroom upstairs. There is an extra full bathroom downstairs. The other downstairs bedroom has an adjacent bathroom. Linen and bath towels are provided.
The cottage also comprises an open-plan kitchen and living area. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering and contains a fridge-freezer, an oven and stove, and a microwave, and features a breakfast bar which overlooks the lounge area. The open-plan lounge has a wood-burning fireplace for those chilly winter evenings. The lounge is also equipped with a TV with Netflix and a DVD player, as well as a music centre and Wi-Fi access.
The lounge leads through French doors onto a covered area of the deck. The large wooden deck overlooks the river towards the Drakensberg mountains, an ideal spot for entertaining, braaing or sundowners.
Guests also have access to an outside braai area on the river bank, under some beautiful Poplar trees for shade. Guests can relax in the lovely garden with ample lawn space for picnics, or in an 8-seater Jacuzzi. There is also a firepit to the left of the cottage for outside entertainment with beautiful views. The house's decor is tasteful.
The house is very comfortable and lovely decorated. The big patio overlooking the river is perfect for gathering everyone and the Jacuzzi and boma are a bonus. The fireplace is well stocked every day and ideal in winter. The beds and bedding are of high standard and quality. Would definitely come again.
The house is lovely with spacious rooms. Very warm rooms at night. The kitchen is fully equipped. The entertainment area outside is very accommodating.
We enjoyed the quietness and the rapid river flow. It was a peaceful stay.
Ambleside Cottage has a fantastic riverside location. The place is very good value for money, well equipped and very comfortable.
Ambleside is beautiful and a great place to rewind and enjoy the company of friends and family, but while I knew Ambleside is a working meat farm, I didn't expect the smell of the abattoir to waft down to the cottage, it made it very unpleasant, especially while trying to enjoy a meal on the beautiful deck. Although the stench only came now and then, I feel I should have been warned it could happen. Other than that it is good value for money and a lovely setting, also the sound of the river is amazing.
Tracey was a wonderful hostess. The house is beautiful and very nicely furnished with everything you need. The location is also perfect. We will definitely stay there again.
It is a beautiful house and a beautiful environment. Tracy was always available to take a call and help where she could.
A homely atmosphere. The Jacuzzi and large dominoes were a hit with us and the children. The house is practical, stylish, neat and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The pleasant patio and sound of the running river is food for the soul. We still had electricity throughout load shedding. The benefit of staying on a working farm. We had a nice stay here.
Lovely peaceful house, and lovely visit/braai areas outside and inside.
Beautiful and private, huge cottage on a a farm. The loft area with its own balcony was thoroughly enjoyed by our adult children. Spectacular scenery, big patio to soak up the winter sun, having a coffee staring at the river and the cattle, horses in the pasture. Heated blankets and indoor fireplace makes for cosy nights. The huge outdoor fireplace in the yard with seating was quite an experience. 2 nights was too little for us to enjoy all Ambleside had to offer. We will surely return.
