The "agent" who had to provide key etc. was very helpful and prompt. The cottage is well equipped. Compared to other self-catering units during our tour, it may be a bit expensive.
The security gate lock at the kitchen door does not work.
My husband and I went on a two-week holiday in March this year (2022) in the Garden Route, from Dana Bay to Storms River. We stayed at five different places and at four of these places our stay was very pleasant. Unfortunately, we can't say the same about our stay at Amicus in Nature Valley. Instead of the peace and quiet in nature that awaited us, our stay at Amicus was next to a construction site. So, instead of birdsong and silence, we were subjected to the non-stop noise of a saw, drilled, chopped and a grinding jackhammer mixed with the booming voices of the construction workers. The noise and the construction dust were so bad that we had to cancel our stay at Amicus prematurely and look for other accommodation at our own expense. We realize that the owners of Amicus are not responsible for construction work next to Amicus, but the decent thing would have been to warn us that we were going to be holidaying next to a construction site and gave us the option to: still stay there or refunded our money if we chose other accommodation.
Would only suggest a tablecloth or two for the tables if we are barbecuing or eating outside to protect the tables.
I feel the rate is too high for the unit. Dark and cold. No decent seat. The bathroom is extremely poor. Look at the "groud" in the shower and the mold between the tiles. I was freaking out about taking a shower. For the price poor. Place just needs a little upgrade and love.
The flatlet was suitable except it could have been aired and cleaned more thoroughly before we arrived. Otherwise we loved the little garden with happy birdlife. I found much joy in reading a Hardy boys book which I found on the bookshelf.
As a family of 6 with two teenagers, the 3-bedroom accommodation was neat but comfortable enough for a pleasant stay. Cutlery and pots and pans are, however, exactly for 6 people and must therefore be fully washed after each meal. Only 1 shower but it is convenient and works for a seaside holiday with the necessary patience and planning. Hangout area could do with a braai area for making a fire (Weber kettle braai was available).
Cute place to stay. Well equipped. Watch out for the baboons. The braai area may just need some shade. I'm glad there was no TV.

Both dish clothes were dirty, one was very dirty. Some of the pots/pans were dirty. Large cobwebs were visible. We ran out of toilet paper with no replacements evident. A heater would have been very helpful on the cold days. The flat is quite cold generally. There was nobody present on arrival and we spent 15/20 minutes trying to find out how to enter or what to do. The manager did however offer to come and meet us when we eventually made contact. The flat is definitely ideal for its purpose and nicely situated and barring the need for a heater requires no further items. The dirty items did not overshadow the stay as it was very pleasant but it did create disappointment. Amicus staff were very helpful when required and when we phoned.
