80 guests' feedbackIt was a lovely weekend. Many thanks to Abri for all his efforts. Had a wonderful stay and ate deliciously. Definitely come again next year for the Cape Hope marathon.
Incredibly well located and beautiful.
Fantastic accommodation and excellent service.
We slept wonderfully on a comfortable bed and with extremely friendly service.
See stars.
Arbie is a great owner/host. Very accommodating to our requests. And Esther, a staff member, is very pleasant and helpful.
Unfortunately not. Fridge and heater did not work. Would have appreciated if there were dish towels, dish soap, teaspoons, kitchen trash can and a plate that could fit in the microwave.
The room was incomplete, I could only make coffee, nothing else, not even a microwave. The room has a very funny smell.
The host went out of his way to accommodate the late extra booking.
Place where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings.
An interesting place.
No safety. Anyone can enter the premises. Curtains in unit torn and dirty. Blanket dirty. Queen bed in ad, but double bed in unit. Bacon and eggs cold at breakfast. Positive: Fresh milk in fridge, but it was frozen when we made coffee.
Complex needs a fair amount if attention. Breakfast very good.
Will definitely stay there again. Thank you.
The room has a large window with a balcony, so the sun invites you in the mornings to come and enjoy the day. Abrie and Rosa are very friendly and made me and my family feel very welcome. Wish we could have stayed longer. The very top floor has a nice sitting area with a view of the town. Will stay here again if I get a chance to go again.
Very friendly and considerate owner/host. Breakfast was delicious.
Had a great time here, the owner is involved and very friendly! Will definitely go again!
Accommodation is clean, tidy and comfortable. I would recommend going for a drink on the upper terrace to appreciate the beautiful view. Abrie is also an expert on the environment and can recommend various routes and hidden spots.
Very good service, especially during breakfast. The lady who prepared the breakfast was very friendly and the food was delicious. The unit we stayed in did not have enough crockery (plates, glasses, etc.). We had to drink champagne from coffee cups.
Abrie will do anything for you! With loadshedding I could still enjoy watching rugby!
There was a big problem with water in the room. We didn't always have water. Sometimes only hot water and no cold water. I also did not get the room I paid for even though no one stayed in the room I paid for.
Angels Mist catered for all our needs. Abrie and staff were very accommodating. Well located near all town amenities. Enjoyed watching the wild horses passing through the property. Hikes were very scenic with spectacular views. Will be visiting again.
Everything we expected - clean and tidy.
Thank you Abrie for an amazing visit there with you. It was amazing to be able to hang out on the roof and enjoy the majestic view. The evenings curling up in front of the fireplace with a coffee had been very special. Will definitely come back there again!
The environment is breathtaking. The tranquility and natural beauty. Will visit there again for sure.
Did not really experience the horses, not sure why but if that is main attraction this should be looked at.
Attention to detail is lacking. Als is there: mirrors are not cleaned regularly, taps that leak and stain are not fixed. Curtain rails that are broken. Stuff that doesn't get dusted often. Furniture that has faded from the sun is not reupholstered.
Had a very nice stay. Rooms are tidy. Nice breakfast. Very friendly personnel. Will recommend it anytime.
What a total disappointment, we booked a luxury room and ended up with a family room. The mattress springs literally pushed through and I slept on the extra bed in the room. And the cherry on the cake was a grinder that started working at 7am sharp. I called the owner and he confirmed that his 2 deluxe room was already booked and despite that he accepted our reservation for a deluxe room and we paid for it.
Had a very nice big room and was received very kindly. Guest house offers delicious breakfast and had a nice time in the bar by the fire with the owners. Room was clean and guest house was very tidy everywhere. Location is just steps away from the only two restaurants in town that are open in the evenings. The room was a little cold, but we were there with a cold front.
Angels Mist was gasvry en die diens was ongelooflik.
We had a wonderfully large room (which was really clean and tidy) and Rosa received us very kindly. Thank you very much again for being willing to welcome my animal child with you and I really hope she didn't bother anyone there. It was quite cold on Friday and Saturday, if anything could suggest it would be to put a warm sheet on the bed. Luckily I took a hot water bag with me. The owner is setting up a bar upstairs and we had a great time hanging out there with the cozy fire. I would also recommend for a roof where he made the braai available (and maybe a bigger braai). Unfortunately we couldn't barbecue, but fortunately they sell patters which were delicious. I can truly recommend Angels Mist.
Had a great time on Kaapsehoop. Rosa received us and made us feel very much at home. Will stay there again if we visit the village again.
I really thought the place itself was rather quaint and lovely and has great potential to be greater. However, I was very disappointed with certain aspects of our stay. While the accommodation was acceptable, the lack of thinking with regards to placing things like kettles on a sideboard where there is not a plug is beyond me. The curtains were coming apart at the top seam and the outside couch was horrifically dirty! The woman who I presume is the lodging lady was not at all consistent with the guests! We were told that we were not allowed to take our little dog, who was on a leash, to the dining room at breakfast time as some people do not like it. So, we obliged and took him back to our room while we ate. However, the following morning another couple was there with their dog, not on a leash, running in and out everywhere and that was okay. When she saw my husband’s reaction, she quickly responded that we could bring our dog tomorrow. Really? The breakfast served for three consecutive days in a row was exactly the same! No bother was made to ask if there was something that we could not eat or were allergic to. There was also barely enough food available at the breakfast! Now, considering that the price is inclusive, one would think that they would make the effort and ensure that there was enough for everyone that was there!
Ten out of ten for the receptionist's love and warmth that she radiates. We left with a malva's cuttings in each of our hands. And she gave us a lot of information and history about the town, and made sure our stomachs were packed with her delicious dishes.
Angels Mist Guesthouse is a beautiful place with everything you need. Rosa, our host, went out of her way to carry us on her hands and I really can't complain about anything. She even treated us to delicious fat cake one afternoon. Great service!
Was very impressed with the place and the hostess went out of her way to make us feel welcome.
Very beautiful place. Everything you need. Lady working there is very nice and helpful. Great breakfast. Very good location in the town. A place to recommend.
Spacious neat rooms with a lovely view and friendly helpful staff.
We felt very much at home at Angels Mist and enjoyed the tranquility in this unique village.
A dream has come true to spend the night in the village of Kaapsehoop. Angels Mist is an unadorned guest house that meets what one needs for an overnight stay. We had a spacious, clean bedroom and bathroom with a comfortable bed and a fridge as a bonus. The breakfast was basic, but tasty and freshly prepared. The shortcomings can be easily corrected and are not of such a nature that one should make negative comments. I must especially mention the special hospitality. Angels Mist's hostess makes you feel right at home.
The units are basic with quite a few little unfinished and worn components. Our unit was a total after thought, however, our friend's unit was much better. Ensure the best room when booking to be comfortable.
Angels Mist Guest House, what a disappointment. Rustic is fine but to be dirty is not acceptable. Broken furniture, cigarette burns on bedding, disgusting shower curtain (we did not have the guts to touch it), blinds in bathroom is dirty and broken, toilet is a disgrace. I did take pictures as proof if necessary. The carpet, which the hostess claimed was cleaned just before our arrival was so dirty, your feet were black when you walked over it. Instead of fresh mountain air the only smell we got was the cigarette smoke from downstairs (hostess). The “game” room upstairs was dusty, smelly and the bar counter full of animal dung. In the dining room, while having your breakfast (scrambled eggs cooked till they were blue), the cigarette smoke came in from the windows as well as the door as the lady was sitting right next to the door having her smoke. We asked for a bigger room but apparently no kids are allowed in the double rooms, I can’t see this statement anywhere on the website. Kids are not allowed in the bigger rooms but cats are allowed to be in the kitchen and dining room? The only room with a bath is not being used as the bath uses too much water? When I complained, the hostess was rude and told me we knew what we were paying for. No, we did not know as this was our first stay at Angels Mist. We did pay R1200 a night for a small dirty room and blue eggs? Never, ever will Angels Mist see me again.
Baie gerieflik en personeel baie vriendelik en hulpvaardig. Sal beslis Angels Mist Guest House aanbeveel.
Kaapschehoop is a sweet little town that to visit is like going back in time. Well worth a visit.
Our weekend was lovely. We warmly welcomed. The rooms are spacious and tidy. We had a great time. Our hostess told us about all the attractions. We will definitely stay there again for the Cape Hope Marathon next year.
Excellent value for money and friendly service. Delicious breakfast and burgers! Great location.
See stars.
My husband and I are mad about Kaapsehoop and will certainly be back. We will overnight at Angels Mist again, definitely not for the service, but for the location for sure. It's such a pity that such a cute place with so much potential can't reach its full potential. The Lazy Rabbit Burger Bar could be a great place to socialise if you can find someone in there. Unfortunately in the two days we were there we tried about 4 times but never managed to eat or drink anything there, which is a pity, because we were not the only guests in town who tried. We were also under the impression that the accommodation included breakfast, but it seemed as though it was so much effort to fix breakfast for us on the first morning that we opted to eat elsewhere. Once again, a beautiful location in town, but they will certainly have to work on their own facilities.
The accommodation and surroundings are very special and can be recommended to anyone visiting the Lowveld.
We will definitely return to Angels Mist again. Abrie is the absolute best host, and we truly felt like we were "home away from home".
Bathroom needs attention.
The food was fantastic.
Although our room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast served was pre-prepared and cold. The hostess suggested that we heat it in the microwave. The water supply to our room was interrupted during the day and we sat without water for several hours without any of the staff informing us of the reason for the problem.
The booking was made way in advance, but there was a double booking that caused confusion. We had to move somewhere else which was not near to what we expected.
Was an unpleasant night. The wet, musty atmosphere in the room took our breath away. Bedding and room smelled bad! The wall and the shelves were wet. The toilet's small window was broken and the people on the 2nd floor can make your business theirs. The small blind protecting your privacy is clean on the one side and horribly dirty on the other. People with respiratory problems have to be sure about what they're getting. Open electrical wiring is visible. Small change is not worth your health.
Was very kindly received, had a good night's rest and got up refreshed with a cup of coffee to help.
Thank you TravelGround for prompt effective service. Thank you Abrie from Angel's Mist. You were more than accommodating and it was an absolute pleasure visiting your establishment. Will most definitely see us again!
We would recommend it to anyone.
Friendly, convenient, clean, comfortable. A little rustic but perfect for a one night stay over to see the sights, experience the culture, food and magic of Kaapsehoop.
Basic, but perfectly adequate for one night. Get what you pay for.
Friendly owner and staff. Clean and inviting.
The accommodation was everything that we needed, but just a few changes would make the unit even better - a rack in the shower would help with toiletries, an extension plug for the kettle so that one doesn't have to boil water on the floor, and a curtain in front of the open window for privacy and reduce the light in the room at night. DSTV was not available, but the owner gave us his decoder to use, unfortunately it is not a full package, only a very few select channels. ( no Mnet or Supersport in the room, only in the bar area. Nevertheless, the owner was very friendly and accommodating and it was a relaxing escape for the week-end.
Neat place, very friendly service. Makes you feel at home!
Thank you Abrie and your team. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay ─ the warm fire you provided in the cold evenings are greatly appreciated. We will visit Kaapsehoop again and will return to Angels Mist Guest House. Thanks again for all your hospitality.
Will recommend this place to friends.
My people were very unhappy with the dinners that were served, they got chicken and porridge or chicken and rice every night. The place was overbooked and the chef had to share a room with one of my people. Some of the other guests had to stay up to 3 people in a room. The staff is not trained well enough, we paid for a laundry service, but according to the staff they don't do laundry. Upon enquiry, the owner called me and very gruffly explained to me that guests should not speak to the staff, but to him directly. He does the laundry himself. In general, my people did not enjoy the stay at all.
For travelers who want to experience something out of the ordinary, in a picture-postcard village, Angels Mist Guest House is just the right destination. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed here as friends and experienced the accommodation as very neat, beautiful and comfortable. The host was very friendly and the lady who helped with our arrival was just as friendly and helpful. We had a great stay! Thank you.
Great stay, fantastic hostess.
On entry to the room you get an immediate spartan, industrial feel with all the exposed plumbing and concrete basins. The bedside lights where all two prong plugs, which you were not able to use as there are no adapters in the room. The room was also extremely noisy (being a groundfloor room and having to contend with scrapping furniture and footsteps in the rooms above). My morning shower did not occur, because some pump tripped, and no water was available in the room.
It was not at all what we expected from the photos. It's a room with 4 single beds, a small shower and toilet and no kettle in the room. You have to go to the "kitchen" and then you pay for the coffee.
Plumbing was shocking. Tap handle fell off, scruffy and a mishmash of styles.
