26 guests' feedbackVery warm welcome by the owner even with home-baked cookies and melk tert were a nice welcome. The accommodation is spacious and more than provides for all your needs.
Beautiful farm! Great barbecue place! Very nice, hospitable and friendly people!
Beautiful restored old house with everything you could need for self catering. The hosts are very kind and helpfull and the baked surprises, yummie! You are always entertained by the Zebras and Springbucks. No TV, no cell phone, no internet. Digital detox! We would recommend this place to everybody who love nature, peace and silence and by being far away, very safe. Would love to stay there again. The only suggestion is to open a part of stoep and cover it with branches to have a half shade.
Really beautiful place and very friendly hosts. Would definitely recommend!
Dit was ons tweede naweek hier. Dit is doodstil pragtig en privaat. Rika en Stephen is die mees fantastiese mense. Jy wil net daar intrek en nooit weer huis toe gaan nie.
Seclusion with yet luxurious accommodation makes for a wonderfully peaceful experience in one of the finest surroundings.
We planned a family holiday to completely disconnect. My husband found Arnion after a wide search. Stephen and Ryka are so warm, welcoming and made us feel at home. The self catering house was well equipped, with a French press and excellent pots/pan for the braai. Wood was available for braai and the boma was well situated. As per our kids the pool was 'epic' and made for hours of fun. The beds were firm with high-quality linens. The wildlife was incredible - the kids were entertained watching the zebras, peacocks, guinea fowl and springbokke. The night sky was majestic with full view of the Milky Way. Overall, this was one of the most rewarding and peaceful holidays we had in a very long time. We would highly recommend Arnion for people who want to explore the Cederberg mountains and disconnect.
The pool was a winner with the kids. There is a nice fireplace inside for cold evenings. House is clean and tidy and newly renovated. The hostess even made muffins and milk pie for us! Real farm hospitality and a nice place to switch off not too far from the city. The Zebras are curious and come close to home.
Hosts surpass everything in hospitality and detail in destination, even pie received on arrival, beautiful surroundings.
The house is very beautiful, the farm is even more beautiful. The silence and the zebras. Everything was great. Will definitely go back.
Jewel hidden between the mountains with zebras and springboks that come to drink water right by the pool. Lovely accommodation with good linen, beautiful nature photos and well equipped kitchen.
No noise, fresh air and only the tranquility of nature around you. Just the place to be nice and quiet.
We should have stayed longer! Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming with tea and cake on arrival. The cottage was perfect in every respect and even had a roaring fire as it was a bit chilly at that time of year. To our delight we enjoyed close experiences with the zebras and the springbok ─ especially waking up the next morning looking out over the pool to the landscape beyond and there was a baby zebra drinking the pool water! We left with many happy memories.
A little piece of heaven. Was super excited to visit Arnion as we moved our booking from March to July. Our welcome was superb, the couple is very accommodating and friendly. The house is extremely well equipped. We were welcomed with a freshly baked melktert, home made ginger cookies, coffee, milk, barbeque spice, fire wood. The zebra's, springboks, and especially George, the peacock, made us feel right at home, with a visit close the house. No reception made it absolute bliss. No technology, just nature and silence - the best therapy. Our beds were warm and comfy. Overall I would stay here once a month if I had the time ─ just to pause, relax and breathe. A must visit!
If you are looking for a true West Coast experience, this is the place for sure! The friendliest host and hostess welcome you will find here. Hearts people, thank you so much Stephen and Rika, you are precious people who we will never forget. The stay in your beautiful house, which is so well equipped and extremely tidy, was wonderful. The wildlife and birds that came to visit us during the day when we were swimming and hanging out on the lovely porch and in the evenings when we were having a delicious barbecue and enjoying the beautiful starry sky, was really more than special. Many, many thanks again for the most delicious food in our little house to welcome us! We hope to visit you again soon and will bring our grandchildren with us this time!
Accommodation is very neat and clean. Amenities provide all basic needs and more - even for the dark Eskom nights. With a small child, we had to keep the patio doors closed when the pool was open. However, on days when the weather allowed, he really enjoyed the pool. The wild animals that walk around you are remarkable. The silence and beautiful nature are like glue for family life!
It doesn't happen often that you find what you see on pictures. We can only speak of highly of this beautiful place. We got more than we could ever expect. From the friendly welcome of host and hostess, the special items that waited for us in the house, the special attention to the whole house, exceptional beauty around every corner, the beds that are so precisely made, the lovely showers, the quality mattresses, the clean and well-kept outdoor cushions and chairs, the fact that the house is swept and raked, the well-maintained swimming pool, all of which means that we want to give more than full marks to this place. Everything in the house is of a high standard, making people feel like a true guest. In fact, nothing was of poor quality. It was our honour to stay there. If we can mention something: a tray under the drying rack because we were so afraid we damaged the counter area with dripping water.
We enjoyed the peaceful farm life and beauty of nature so much, and this is complimented by the unbelievable hospitality of Stephen and Rika. We'll definitely visit again.
It was lovely to visit Rika and Stephen. They are the friendliest hosts and really go out of their way to make it fun for people. The house is beautiful and very well laid out. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Very hospitable, peaceful and the veranda with swimming pool and zebras was amazing! George with his beautiful feathers makes you feel so at home! Definitely worth it!
Our stay at Arnion was a peaceful experience. The house is beautiful and everything is so neat. The children really enjoyed the pool and big tree next to the house. They were either in the pool or in the tree! Rika spoiled us with biscuits, cookies and a delicious caramel cake. It was nice to have the Zebras and Springboks all around the house and George the Peacock also came to visit us often.
Rika and Stephen immediately made us feel at home. We were there over Christmas. We were surprised with a beautiful Christmas tree and a delicious, home-baked milk pie. Everything was as beautiful as in the photos. Can definitely recommend Arnion.
Driving up to the owners farm on the red gravel roads really took me back to life on the farm. The roads were in good condition which made life for our rental sedan car a lot easier. We were met by the Stephen and Rita, a delightful older couple. We were welcomed with homemade scones and a refreshing drink. This is their home and they are proud to share it with those willing to take the road less travelled. We were lead up to our accommodation by Rita. Three rather tame zebra were hanging around the front of the property awaiting feeding time. Bonnie and Clyde (so named by the owners) were a joy to watch. We were also welcomed by George the very curious peacock, who was a great source of comic relief. You can sit on the porch watching the Springbok wonder up to get some food as well. There is also a comfortable braai area for those evenings relaxing with the family reminiscing about the day gone by. The infinity pool is also a great addition to the property. When you enter the front door you walk into a completely renovated old farm house. It is well decorated, minimal but welcoming with a lot of attention to detail. The entire property is super clean and the firm bed is extremely comfortable. We made our first coffee in the charming fireplace (real 'old school') in spite of the fact that we could have easily done it using electricity. Having no reception and therefore no internet was fantastic! If you must you can get WiFi down at the owners' house, but not being "connected" has to be one of the best features of this property where you have 75 acres of grounds to explore. This property is a great getaway; a romantic retreat; time well spent with the family; getting back to nature; time to forget about the mad rush. Simply put: idyllic and delightful. Negatives? Not having enough time to spend here. Hopefully easily rectified upon our next visit. Recommendation: yes, yes, yes!
This guest house was the biggest surprise ever. The "hartbeeshuisie" is beautiful, luxurious, tasteful and super neat - a real oasis in the hot and dry environment. The pool was a blast and we were welcomed by zebras and springboks right on our doorstep. The owners are pleasant, hospitable people and made us feel so at home with delicious milk pie and gingerbread cookies on the kitchen table. We spent the most incredible time there. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors, a clear starry sky and tranquility. Here one can still hear the commando bird calling at night.
This was such a nice experience we had with the owners and the accommodation itself. We can really recommend this stay.
On arrival our hosts made us feel most welcome and we found all sorts of delicious home made goodies waiting for us in the cottage. The cottage is spacious, beautifully appointed and the bathrooms were a treat - all spotless. We were there in December and loved the pool and the patio with its sleeper couch for afternoon naps! If you want to get away from it all and enjoy peace and tranquility then this is the place for you - we will happily return again.
