Fantastic stay! Lovely little space with probably the best view in the area. The unit had everything we needed, and the cosy fireplace was a winner. We had a lovely stay at Arundel Studios. The environment was every bit as pleasant as was promised in the pics. Items I would have liked to see: a chopping board and a hair dryer. Also, the gravel road is not graded all the way to the property, if only for a short stretch right towards the end. Still doable in a sedan, but current information a little misleading.
The view was stunning, peaceful and one admires nature tremendously, the tranquility and convenience were top notch!

Beautiful place overlooking the mountains, very nice and peaceful, hot water was just a bit of a problem. Two units share a solar geyser. If you are up first, you have hot water. Otherwise you take a cold shower.

It is nice and close if you want to see Clarens. Very quiet and beautiful. One feels safe. There is a bit of dirt road, but not bad at all. Was a lovely break from the busy city of Slewe. Was able to move around and see Clarens easily.

We enjoyed our stay at Arundel Studio 2 — it was clean, tidy and everything we needed was on hand. The Wi-Fi was very reliable.

The fireplace was a welcome bonus for the cold nights. But the East facing the direction of the room meant you were quickly warmed by the morning sun.

The place has a wonderful view of the mountains. Very close to town and would recommend anyone to stay here rather than in Clarens itself. The drive into town takes about 10 minutes, but it's worth the peace. Place is clean and has everything you will need for a short visit. WiFi is on even when there is load shedding.

We were looking for a place where we could just be quiet and relax. Arundel Studios is the ideal place to check out if you are looking for tranquility. There is no noise. This is our second visit to Arundel Studios and once again we were very happy during our weekend. The unit is clean and tidy, the bed is nice and warm and the view breathtaking. It's dead quiet, just what we were looking for. In the evenings you hear the owl and the foxes, in the morning all the different bird species. There was even a bunny and 2 mongooses who came to visit us.
View, cleanliness, friendliness, extra effort, location. Clean, quality bedding and towels. Well worth coming here to 'get away' for a weekend.
We booked both Studios for family and also took our little boy (6) with us. The cleanliness, 'attention to detail', extra effort for our child, views, location, service etc were all fantastic. With rainy weather forecast, they made the effort to put two children's books (Afr and Eng) as well as coloring pencils with paper in our room. The picnic area down by the river is also very nice. And the view!

It was good to stay out of town, away from all the busy streets and lots of people during the Covid pandemic. The units are wonderfully equipped with everything you could need during your stay. Please note that the studio unit is a bit small with an open plan bedroom/dining room (although this did not bother us much!). Arundel Studios has a beautiful view and is located a little outside the town. The accommodation and kitchen are neatly furnished with everything you need, as well as the porch with a built-in braai. The cottages are located on a slope with a view of the mountains on the way to Golden Gate.
The place is very clean and beautifully laid out. The owner received us very kindly and when they heard that we had just got married, they spoiled us with a bottle of champagne! They also offered us several free services. Overall it had been a wonderful experience. We will never stay anywhere else when visiting Clarens.

Enigste negatief is dat Clarens so klein is soos die foto's beduie en dit beteken dat as die ouens jou waarsku dat jy moet inkopies doen in Bethlehem, dan joke hulle nie - net die bare basics beskikbaar in Clarens - wat beteken jou braai gaan teleurstel tensy jy vleis saam bring. Absolutely fantastic place just outside Clarens. To see the sun rise every morning over the Maluti while you are in front of your fireplace was incredible. We will be back as soon as possible.

Everything you may need is available in the studio - including steak knives. Walked at least one of the hiking trails every day and spent a lot of time on the trails taking pictures. The picnic spot by the river is very beautiful. Will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

The road remains a factor here. Arundel is accessible by car but one has to crawl the few kilometers. Hot water was not hot enough with temperature of minus 2 degrees. My wife and I needed a short getaway away from everything and Arundel was exactly what we needed. No TV or distractions, breathtaking views, cracking fire, birds and the wind through the trees. The management and owner are very friendly. The rooms are private (We stayed in studio 2), the gravel roads are not as bad as some make it out to be, we drove slowly with my VW Polo with no problems (Speed up slightly on your way up to the studios for some momentum). Beautiful picnic area beside a stream with a braai and pond to dip in. Great hiking trails, just make sure to ask the farm owners to hike across their land. 5 minutes away from Clarens. We are most certainly coming back again. Thank you Arundel!

Our stay at Arundel was just what us city sleeker needed. The area is tranquil, the views are amazing and the accommodation has everything you need. The WiFi was an unexpected bonus, when the weather turned on us on the Saturday we just curled up in front of the fireplace and watched movies. Arundel will definitely see us again.

We were pleasantly surprised that the unit was even more beautiful than in the photos, with a lovely view of the mountains. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful - far from a road or traffic noise! We were lucky that no one was in the unit next door while we were there. Our only uncertainty for a next booking is that we didn't realize when we booked, that the two studios are stuck together. So we are not sure how quiet and peaceful it will still be if there are people next door who are noisy. The only other minor disturbance was that the house next to studio 1 has a Jacuzzi which the neighbors would sometimes turn on in the evenings and then cause a bit of a booming sound for a while, along with them chatting outside house. However, it was really a trifle and didn't last long. Would definitely recommend and go again! We will try to go again in the week when the unit next door will hopefully be open again.

Always knew that Clarens area was a gem, but Arundel just pinned the memory down again. 'Stunning views' over valley and mountains, clean comfortable place to lie down and lo and behold: satisfaction for your soul.

Being motorcycle enthusiasts and with Clarens being a favourite motorcyclists’ haven we decided to arrange a short road trip with some friends. When we saw Arundel Studios – and its many good reviews, we decided this was the place for us. The views from the patio are spectacular and watching the sun rise and set was truly magnificent. The accommodation is well-appointed and cosy and comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. Unfortunately there were a number of downsides to the accommodation. The road to the studios requires at least an SUV as it is a very rough dirt road – even a normal motorcar would struggle. This was not communicated on any of the sites advertising Arundel, and with Clarens being a road motorcyclist’s haven we would have thought this would be an important consideration to have highlighted. This would have been a major factor in us choosing our accommodation as we were riding Harley Davidsons. There is no lighting along this road which made going into Clarens for dinner impossible on our motorcycles. Then, to our dismay, we discovered late on the Saturday afternoon that there had been no housekeeping service at the studios so we came home to unmade beds, and unwashed dishes – luckily we were with friends and we had enough crockery between the two Studios. We have stayed in any number of B&B’s, guesthouses and self-catering accommodation and there has always been a housekeeping service – this too needs to be communicated as this would have determined whether we would have booked the accommodation or not. The key collection and drop-off system needs to be reviewed as it is neither easy nor convenient for guests. We had to meet Dolores on the road going to the Bethel Estate and then had to drop off the keys in town on Sunday morning. It would have been easier to leave the keys in a post box at the studios. Whilst we had a very good weekend it was very stressful to negotiate the road into and out of Arundel Studios and could have ended in a worse disaster. 2 of the bikers did go down on the rocky gravel section – luckily a few grazes and some scratched paintwork was the only damage.
The place is nice inside and neatly finished. However, the dirt road was rough even though we were driving 4x4. There is no milk or flash provided and on arrival we received a key and ended up in the other couple's studio and had to make further arrangements so that we could reach the studio. Parking was also difficult due to the couple next door not parking correctly, we struggled to get our 4x4 out. No parking is indicated. Stayed better in Clarens for less.
Place is very neat and the location is incredible. You can see for miles and you feel so free there. It is the perfect place.

The studio is very neat and clean and very well equipped for comfort for two people. We really enjoyed the beautiful view and the wood that was provided for the fireplace came in handy to make a lovely fire to drive away the cold. It's very romantic with the candles everywhere in the studio and we would strongly recommend it to people who love nature and can appreciate it. The games and reading material available to visitors were ideal for keeping one busy. We are already planning our next visit!

I found the bed's mattress was a bit worn out. The springs stuck into our backs and so we didn't sleep very well. The electric blanket didn't work and we didn't have enough blankets. I will, however, definitely return to this place as I would love to see it in summer. The fireplace in the room is wonderful. If you are looking for couples getaway with a romantic atmosphere, then Arundel Studios is the place for you.
I definitely recommend Arundel Studios. Just one thing - I saw a tip jar for the cleaner and gardener. I assumed the place would be cleaned daily because of the tip jar? No one cleaned the place. Would be nice to have daily cleaning service as an option, even if you have to fork out some extra cash.

One of our very favorite places to stay! It's perfectly equipped, with extra effort like filter coffee (very nice) and even though it's very close to Clarens, it feels like you're in another country. We will go back again and again, most beautiful mountain view and fantastic facilities.

Beautiful clean Studios. Beautiful scenery, beautiful night sky. Lovely shower and bed. It's a shame that cleaning services are not automatically included. There is also no anti-theft or solid door locks, so that's a bit negative.

We explored the area during the day and were mainly at the studio at night. There are two, small studios facing each other. Arundel is beautifully located! It's quiet and peaceful with the local weekend residents walking their dogs in the fields. We saw the most beautiful full moon rise between the heads, enjoyed the bright stars and appreciated the sunrise from bed! We drove, walked and bird-watched in the area. The studio is very well equipped, even if there is little storage space for groceries. Please remember that all surfaces are very smooth! Also remember to take something warm for the evening: the evenings can get quite cool even in summer. The studio is hot. It has a flat, cement roof that bakes very hot during the day. It's lovely to sit outside in the evening and have a barbecue. However, the neighbors in the studio next door are noticeably close and we invade each other's privacy. One shares e.g. the same chimney and the porch light simply illuminates both places. It's a shame that the place wasn't cleaned at any point during the weekend. The bin shared by the two studios has become unsightly full. There is no provision to clean the braai places yourself and the braai places should actually have been cleaned as well. The manager, Gavin, made no inquiry regarding with our stay. When the 'neighbours' left, we had an even better stay! We can highly recommend Arundel!

The view is "amazing" and the silence incredible! If you want to rest, this place is just for you - not far from town, so we could drive in and out without "too" much driving.
Beautiful, neat, well equipped.
We had a great stay at Arundel Studios. The dirt road to get there is in good condition and very short. There is only a shower in the unit but the outdoor bath was great fun for our little girl. The shaded areas are small for a little one to play in, but in front of the main house she had fun running around. The unit is only cleaned every other day. However, it fit in well with our holiday. The braai wood provided was some of the best and driest I have barbequed with in a long time. The view is fantastic and the picnic spot by the river was a feast. Thank you for the hospitality.

Had a nice stay in the unit and will return there again. Considering that the unit caters for two people, storage space and hanging space are limited in both the bathroom and living unit. The fireplace is a wonderful "feature" in such a cold area. While using the gas stove, we suspected that there was a leak at the gas bottle in the cupboard (gas smell). So we used it as little as possible, and otherwise kept the bottle wrapped. Otherwise it was a lovely weekend in an exceptionally beautiful location.

Only approximately 2 km outside of Clarens, Arundel is set on a 4-hectare stand with 100m of river frontage and is located within Bethel Estate, which sits atop a ridge that boasts great views of Mount Horeb, Golden Gate, the Maloti Mountains, and the Witteberge towards Ficksburg. It offers the best of 2 worlds, out in quiet nature, yet at a stone's throw from the friendly town of Clarens, the jewel in the Eastern Free State, with its attractive amenities.
Accommodation is offered in 2 self-catering studios, each with its own entrance and wall-to-floor ceiling windows to enjoy the magnificent mountain views. Both light and airy, open-plan units of 24-square metres offer a queen-size bed, a living area with a fireplace and dining area, and an en-suite bathroom. Linen, electric blankets, and towels are provided. There is also Wi-Fi which is not subject to loadshedding.
Enjoy preparing your own food in a fully equipped, hand-built kitchen complete with granite worktops, freestanding stainless steel electric stove with gas hob, microwave oven, and fridge, with Arundel's own mountain mineral water on tap, or go to one of the quaint restaurants in Clarens.
The studios each have a roofed terrace with braai facility and garden furniture where guests can relax and take in the views after a day of hiking, mountain biking, playing golf or relaxing by the river.
At the Klein Caledon, a picnic area is created with a weir and steps, so Arundel guests can have a swim in the river or throw out a fishing rod, whenever the weather and water-level permit.
Arundel Studios is the ideal base for undertaking a full range of adventurous outdoor activities or to rest and relax and go out for a romantic dinner in Clarens. The owners will be pleased to advise you on the various options. Smoking is not permitted within the studios, but ashtrays are provided for the patios. The unit is supplied with borehole water.
Daily servicing is not included.
