The only small complaint is the traffic on the main road, but we realize that's part of the package and the location. The accommodation is nice and clean.
The lodge itself is beautiful, has WiFi, hot water, DSTV, parking, and a restaurant on site. Breakfast is extra, but tasty. Opposite them is a factory that roars day and night. I can recommend the place to people who are not disturbed by noise. It would benefit the lodge to plant more trees and shrubs that can absorb the noise, or make the chalets more soundproof, e.g. with egg boxes, carpets etc. It really isn't their fault.
Our sink towel was not changed on our arrival, and there is no service available to drop off your luggage, as the golf cart is out of order and you have to wrestle your luggage up the hump yourself. No further help was offered.

The road to Ascot is full of potholes.

We would love to thank all staff from Ascot Bush Lodge for the warm welcome we had. We booked in at 18:15 (18 guests) And although we had not booked for dinner and all of us were hungry, the staff immediately gave us the menu and we made our choices. We ate at 20:00 and received a wonderful dinner with awesome staff serving you. The accommodation is awesome. Will definitely go back again.
Maybe set up a play area for kids. Maybe put a mug or something by the kettle so the kettle can be filled with water. Check the condition of the wooden sofa in lounge area, ours broke all the time. Coffee and sugar were only given on arrival. Otherwise it was a very nice place. The restaurant was a winner, the people very friendly and the food very good.
The chef is definitely a Masterchef. Staff is friendly.

The only negative here is the noise from the factories across the highway and the highway itself. Thought it would be dead quiet like in a real forest. Regardless, I had a great stay.
Freeway too close to rooms. Rooms need a paint job, new mattress for bed closest to TV and carpets should preferably be replaced with tiles or wooden floors. Orange throws must be washed. Mildew in shower needs to be removed and shower head raised, it's way too low and a new fridge is needed I wouldn't put milk or food in it. Housekeeping needs a lot of work.
Unfortunately, a lot of noise from the N3 highway next to accommodation. Chalets need a lot of repairs, painting and cleaning, our bathroom door couldn't close. The restaurant's food and especially their pizzas and burgers were delicious. The staff are considerate and friendly.
On arrival in our room the toilet was blocked. When it started to rain, the roof leaked above the bed. The parking facilities are far from the chalet and the road to the Chalet is not even paved, you have to walk through the mud and long grass to your room. The turn off road from the main road in the resort to your room's car park is very narrow and you cannot turn from one road to the other with a bakkie.
Very quiet even if it is against the N3. Comfortable and clean and tidy. Safe place to stay. Staff was very friendly. The site was clean and tidy. The restaurant on site is a bonus for sure because we didn't want to go looking for a place to eat and the food was delicious, just a shame the lady didn't want to prepare us another plate of chips. Our children were hungry! The breakfast was delicious.

We struggled to find the resort but were surprised with the accommodation and the resort so peaceful. The chalet we were in completely met our requirements. Only one thing was a bit negative the parking, it is a bit on the small side. The resort was full and we came in late then there was no parking near the chalet.
Closely situated to highway, fantastic restaurant food and retro decor bar. Friendly staff. Well presented room with air con. It was worth the stay.

We were warmly received and every effort was made to make us comfortable. The accommodation was great, and the supper was exactly what we needed. The only drawback might be if you cannot walk distances, there is no parking next to units. The golf cart that was used to transport our aching bodies back to our unit after we did the marathon was a God sent.

We did not get self catering accommodation as advertise and also not the unit we were supposed to get. Had to stay in two rondawels instead of a family unit.

Our stay was very disappointing. Our 4 bed cottage smelled bad from the start - so much so that I had to ask for air freshener for there was none. The walls were dirty, not to mention the Pollyfilla marks all over the place. If I hadn't already fully paid for our stay before our arrival, we would have left. The photo's of Ascot Bush Lodge, for us - were very deceiving.

Noise pollution is high with factories in front and highway next to the lodge, but fortunately more of a constant roar that one gets used to. Too bad you can't park your vehicle closer to the chalets. We had a nice meal in the restaurant, but the drink prices are very high. Overall a very nice stay with friendly and pleasant service.
I would definitely use Ascot again as a "half-way" overnighter. It was comfortable, the staff helpful and friendly!
Good accommodation for larger families. Everything very neat and clean. Good bathroom facilities, as well as recreational facilities. Definitely a place to visit again.
Very friendly service from day 1. We stayed here for a week and our rondavel was cleaned everyday and the bedding and towels were washed everyday. Terrain is good and up keeping is very good. Bathroom is good. What will stay with me is the nature. Environmental management is good here.
I recomend Ascot to anyone who wants a peaceful stay in Pietermaritzburg.
Pretty place with nice accommodation. Unfortunately no parking at units which means you have to carry your baggage far. Also difficult for handicapped to get a long.
The units are apart, but we ride bikes and it's not a problem if you exercise a bit.
Would like to see you park closer to your place of residence.

The unit inside was clean, tidy - relatively basic. Unfortunately, the description of "a stone’s throw from the N3" must be taken literally because we were about 100 m from the N3. Large trucks were deafening and made the nights long. The other side of this beautiful picture is very industrial with massive production facilities - not what we expected.
Rooms are good but smell from dumping side is not good especially during the day.
General cleanliness of the living unit is not up to standard, the television has no remote control and the air conditioner did not work. The beds are old and tired which made it uncomfortable.
We did only sleep one night at Ascot Bush Lodge and were very sorry we couldn't stay longer. It's a special place and the staff is amazing! We will definitely return and would recommend to anyone. You guys are awesome.

Very neat but if you want to sleep peacefully this is not the place. N3 passes right by Bush Lodge and hears trucks all night. Thought the name Bush Lodge was going to be peaceful, but no bush atmosphere with N3 right in front of you. Sorry about that.
We stayed at Ascot for 2 nights to go to a wedding close by. Good points: clean and well thought out décor, friendly service, especially at reception, establishment well maintained. Bad points: unfortunately Ascot is in the middle of an industrial area and your view is of silos and power lines, it is near a rubbish dump which on occasion really smells, right on the highway which is very noisy, food service was poor as totally understaffed but surprisingly once received was good. Would only recommend Ascot for maybe business guests as very disappointing for leisure.
Everything about the stay was average to good, except for the location. The constant noise from the N3 highway meant that we could sleep very little. Ascot Bush Lodge is not in the bush and our room was very close to the N3!
The place is very clean, the people are hospitable and the place is really nice.
Nice setup and friendly people who go out of their way to help a guy. There is a nice sitting area inside and outside. It's very rustic. The dilemma is that it's next to the N3, so if you get room 43 and 44, it's just lorry noise all night. Further away it will work.
