Once again a wonderful stay! Everything that one needs and more. The pre-heated hot tub was wonderful after a long trip!
We had an amazing family long weekend at Asher Riverside Cottages. The hostess, Ada, was extremely helpful and responded quickly to inquiries and corrections (such as the DSTV). My children and grandchildren took full advantage of the stay with kayaking and hot tub. We knew beforehand about the possibility of flies, so provision was made to eliminate them 99%. Remember to switch on the electric insect repellent on the porch. It makes a huge difference. Please visit Eseltjiesrus while you are in the area.
It was incredibly nice in nature with so much comfort. The hot tub was the perfect end to our days under the stars.

Accommodation is affordable and on the River. weather permitting you can take out the canoe (provided by Asher) on the river. Hosts are very friendly.
We had a lovely stay, despite a storm, rain and severe winds. The stoep is well shielded against the wind, a lovely large farm-style outside braai, a cosy indoor fireplace. The kids even managed to use the wood-fired hot tub despite the winds and rain. The loft was also an absolute hit.
The host and her family were lovely and accommodating. We were caught by surprise by all the flies during the day but given that it's a working farm, one should expect it. The linen was crisp and clean, the cottage was as the images displayed. The only thing would be the kitchen lacked smaller (comfort items) - a pan, bigger oven dish, smaller serving dishes.
Awesome stay. Tranquil and peaceful. The hot tub was fantastic, as well as the canoe ride. We were a family of 8, so it was definitely worth every penny spent.

We had such an amazing time there, enjoying the scenic river and mountains. The hosts were amazing, so helpful and friendly! We loved the wood-fired jacuzzi! It was so cold, but the jacuzzi was perfect. Will definitely go there again!
We had a lovely time at Asher! The location is great and we spent a lot of time on the river - they provide a kayak. The facilities are very nice - especially the hot tub - and we were disappointed when we finally had to leave. We can't wait to go back!
Beautiful scenery and genuine hospitality! Pleasant experience; clean accommodation and cottages are well equipped. The view from the hot tubs is unbeatable.
The facilities are quite sparse. So take some extra comforts with if you can. Great value for money, friendly hosts and a lovely location.
We really enjoyed the dogs. Ada is friendly and everything was well organized and clean.
The owners are lovely and accommodating. Beautiful views with a large sun porch overlooking the river. Would have loved to get a heads up on the water situation, the water in the bathroom and kitchen is brown/slightly muddy, there is a separate tap for drinking water. The place could have been cleaned before our arrival, it was dusty as if it wasn't occupied for a while, I rewashed the dishes before use and the inside of the microwave was really dirty. We found quite a few spiders in the rooms and one huge one too.
The cottage was clean and nicely set out, and that's it. We had no DSTV even though we had to pay extra for it. There is no access to the river even though there is a canoe. We had six cows in front of our cottage for the full 3-night stay. Imagine the flies we had to deal with.

So we had a family weekend. As it is on the picture is what you get. However we thought there was a pool but there was no pool. But you have the hot tubs and you have the river. it was so peaceful and that's what we wanted to have a peaceful weekend and we did. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

It was a really nice stay, definitely worth the money paid. The canoeing sounds amazing on the ad but logistically it doesn't make sense and is not accessible.
We had a great time. The hot tub was lovely and the surroundings are beautiful. The cottage is well equipped.
The cottages are very comfortable with the basic equipment you need for a weekend. The location is convenient for those looking for a place outside the town but still close enough to the wine farms in the area. We would recommend that the owners upgrade the equipment in the cottage and perhaps improve the porch. Right now it's just a cement slab. Something like more comfortable outdoor benches. daybeds, more lighting can help. But if the idea is to provide a basic place to live, it does.

From the time you arrive, you feel totally relaxed. Wonderful views of the river. The hot tub is an excellent place to view the evening stars from! Close to wine and cheese farms. We'll definitely be going again!
The view over the Breë River and the cows that came to visit every morning, as well as the hot bath in the evenings with a sky full of stars were the highlights of my weekend!
Very quiet place away from the city noise. Down to earth, nothing fancy, just what is needed. Nice hot tub to relax in. Children can fish. Small children will only need parental supervision because it's quite steep down to the river. Children can enjoy cycling. Large porch with braai overlooking the river. Stairs to the "loft" also very stylish - so not suitable for older people. But 2 large bedrooms downstairs.

Excellent destination.
Wonderfully quiet between the vineyard and the river. Lots of flies were a frustration, presumably due to the cattle nearby. Owner does make a good effort to control it, although it doesn't exactly turn dog off. Fortunately, there were 3 fly swatters with which we could practice backhand and chest shots.
We had a great time! Lovely large porch and lawn for children to play. Beautiful view of the river. The stairs to the roof sleeping area are just not suitable for older people or small children. Unit was very neat and well equipped. Houses can be updated in a bit, but everything you need is there. Maybe not quite worth R2000 a night, but we still had a great time and even paddled on the river! Owners are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it. Hot pool a big winner!
The ideal place for a break from the hectic city. The hot tub under the stars was definitely a highlight and the rowing an adventure on its own which made for many giggling memories.
A swimming pool would be ideal for those hot summer days especially if you have young kids. The stairs are a bit steep for the elderly and younger kids. It's a wonderful place to stay and would definitely go back.
The chalet has everything you need. The hot tub is fantastic and the kids played in it all day. The river in the early morning makes for the most beautiful photos. Thank you very much Ada an Dickter for being able to share in the beautiful surroundings.

We visited Asher. The distance is not too far from the Cape and the route is incredibly beautiful. The weekend gave you a break on a farm where only the birds on the river talked. The owners of the farm are very hospitable and friendly and the children even got a chance to help give milk to the lambs. The house is clean and tidy with everything you need. We had a nice walk along the river and lay in the hot tub at night. Was delicious! Thank you very much.
The view is beautiful with the river full. Lovely porch for barbecuing and visiting. Buksie who comes to visit with his ball and the cows in the camp next door who peek at us. A wonderful place to relax. The loft upstairs for the kids is a winner!
The house is located right on the river with a beautiful view. Very private with a lovely hot tub that you heat with fire. The stairs to the loft where 4 people can sleep are VERY steep. So it is more suitable for children. Kitchen is small but equipped with everything you need. A wonderful break and a very peaceful environment.

We had a lovely, peaceful stay. The wood-fired hot tub was a fabulous treat. Overall it was a lovely time, and even the gale force winds and rain added to the good experience.
The kettle is a bit small for 8 people. No warm water in the kitchen. Cold tap of the bath not working. The location is great and relaxing.
Was a lovely weekend with friends, beautiful location and beautiful surroundings to explore. Cottage was well equipped and hot pool was a bonus.
The accommodation was clean, but privacy is a challenge with the beds in the loft. The accommodation is suitable for one family with children.
We were met by the owner who is very friendly and helpful. The cottages are right on the river and has all you need for self-catering. Beds were comfy. We had a lot of fun in the warm water pool in the evening. We will definitely be going back for another break. Our sons had a lot of fun with the complimentary canoe and spent hours fishing.
Listening to nature at its best, birds, frogs, water flowing, crickets so many more. Great accommodation, stunning views and nice big rooms. It's basically a home away from home, without the city. You can get lost just sitting on the porch looking at the river flowing, by watching the birds dip in and out of the water, chasing one another for prime nesting rights. Twice a day an old goods train will climb the ridge in the distant background. Just a fantastic experience all round.
We loved our recent stay at Asher River Lodge. The kids had a ball in the Jacuzzi and so did the adults after the kids went to bed. Beautiful setting with all you need for a breakaway weekend.
Beautiful venue. Right on the river. Perfect getaway to distress, catch some fish and soak in the tub.
