My sisters and I had 5 wonderful days. Service was good. Location is excellent. Everything is nice and clean and you can see that maintenance has been done to units and to the resort throughout.

Definitely worth the money, the teenagers were very little on their phones and very little seen. They thoroughly enjoyed the activities available. The security of the resort is definitely fantastic.

Nice as in very very nice! Thank you very much for recommending it. Als is basic but adequate and beautifully neat and clean - the pools, the putt-putt course, the lawns, the roads and driveways, the cleaning service and the units themselves - we were in apartment 12. Unfortunately the TV's sound was poor. The hot water is unnecessarily hot and it wastes Eskom money? Pieter at reception deserves a special compliment for his helpfulness and friendliness.
Apart from the scenery, all the facilities were in good working order. The cottage was lovely clean and very well equipped. All the staff are so helpful and the "resort cats" were on their job to make sure no rats or snakes made an appearance. We had a really lovely stay, your friendly service (on all levels) is top notch, and you will without a doubt see us again, it was an absolute pleasure for our souls. And specifically the facilitators - Thank you very much for how you build into each child's life what you deal with, it has value long after they are gone. All in all it was just simply awesome.
Our stay was amazing! Went with my son from England. So much to do for our 5 year old grandson. Our car stopped on the way to the mountains and the fantastic people from ATKV came to pick us up and took us safely back to ATKV. Next day we were taken to Ladysmith to pick up a rental car.
We camped. The ablutions were 5 star, barbecue and garbage bins cleaned daily. There was constant entertainment for the visitors.
This was our third camp at ATKV Drakensville and will be back again. We always have a great time there.
The nicest place to relax. Facilities great, service excellent and the whole resort is clean and well maintained. We love the hot pools!
All I can say is I'm so sorry we only just discovered ATKV. Very sorry. We will definitely go back again, the hot pools are the best. We felt safe 24/7 even walking in the evening to go play putt-putt. ATKV, you are tops.

Everything was as advertised, really value for money, and well worth it for a family with children of any age. Here and there there is something that needs attention, but nothing that spoiled the fun.
It was an excellent stay with top quality customer service. The unit was cleaned daily by friendly staff. A suggestion to provide at least 4 of each (plates, knives, forks, glasses etc.). Otherwise great unit maintenance. We had a great stay!
It was lovely, but Monday 17/06/24. Early in the morning, we went swimming, the indoor pool was very dirty and had an unpleasant smell. Really disappointing.

Fantastic, safe, clean.
The male cats are a bit of a problem, because they urinate against the tents and the urine has an unpleasant smell. They came to mark the tent every night and when we reported it to the office they didn't pay much attention. They came and threw powder around the tent that keeps cats away but it didn't help. The cats also scream and fight at night which is not so nice.
Had a wonderful stay. Resort is well located and ideal for large or small groups.
It was wonderful to be able to stay there. We were under the impression that there were no braai facilities at the little apartment, but when we got there there were braai facilities.
We had a pleasant few days at the ATKV Drakensville. Everything was neat. A few things need some attention, but overall everything was fine. We enjoyed our time there.

Yes, big, comfortable and tidy. However, the constant cleaning of the pool and grounds is not so pleasant. A lot of noise. Hot pool. Good supervision of children making noise in the indoor pool should be controlled.
Food at the Admiral was excellent.
Everything is nice and clean and the staff is very friendly.
The beds were uncomfortable and there was a large Afrikaans music catalogue. I had no idea there were so many Afrikaans songs. The cold pool was not very clean. I would recommend someone to bring their own food as there are limited options in and around the area.

Very nice environment and the customer service is very good. Workers are very helpful and happy to help with any problems or questions. All that could be better is the hot water system for campers.

We had a very nice stay. The apartment was cleaned every day. A few problems were reported to the apartment staff. We were away for the day, and when we came back everything was sorted. The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. The WiFi password was provided and it worked.
Our arrival and reception was friendly and easy and staff were happy to lend a hand to help us set up camp. However, the pitches need attention and the resort management must make sure that every pitch has at least a dustbin. We had to share a faucet and trash can with three other campsites. The stands must also be measured more clearly. We had to give up part of our pitch to a neighbor who pitched extra tents. The result was that we couldn't even get to the power point properly. There was also way too much noise and activity from the maintenance crews working all day on new drains (I think that was it) and paving. Tractors and 3-ton vans drive up and down all day. No what. It was no fun. One comes to rest! It also bothered that some of the planned holiday program was canceled at short notice. The weather didn't cooperate either (no one had control over this) and therefore the attractions and walking routes in the area were not always accessible either. A big plus is the 'generators' which ensure that everyone has power during load shedding. Thanks for this!
Now it was a disappointment that it rained so much, but the hot water pool made up for it. The road just before the resort needs urgent attention. We got 2 flat wheels and had to replace both wheels. So I feel that a warning should be sent out to guests. Otherwise, our visit was very nice and it's always nice to come there. We are definitely going to bring our friends next time.
Staff were not friendly, shop closes very early. The activities started late and closed early.

The house was clean and smelled nice. The braai on the stoep was convenient and we could celebrate a nice birthday there. Love the Snappy Chef induction stove and pots! The shop was a huge bonus and the slide was fantastic! It's always fun at Drakensville.

We as a family enjoy using ATKV Drakensville as a rest stop or overnight stop on the way to KZN and back. Always spend a day or two to get or stay in the holiday spirit.

If you're going with family it's perfect place. So, book a good few days to enjoy all the activities.
Nice and quiet. Friendly and a nice hanging out atmosphere.
Everything was delicious and comfortable. However, the holiday program for children has a lot of room for improvement if I compare it with programs at other places of the ATKV. Did the booking and the ad said it was a detached house although it was a link house.
Here and there one notices that things need attention, e.g. moss growing on paving around the outdoor hot water pool. Grass under sunbeds is not cut, the storle needs to be moved. Plastic papers in the pool. Pool is not vacuumed and the pool floor has algae, especially in the corners by the stairs.

In future please give us tea, coffee and sugar in the rooms. Improve room service. We stayed for 3 nights but they did not change the sheets and clean our bedrooms. They only clean the kitchen and dinning rooms.
Air conditioning insufficient in winter, take your own heater and blankets for rooms, especially if you have small children and babies. Can put a tongs and egg spatula in the kitchen. WiFi was available but not working.

Apartment no. 14 is not at all luxurious but quite comfortably furnished. Kitchen has all the basic necessities (bring your own dish towels). Bathroom and shower could be cleaner. We always had enough hot water for the shower and kitchen sink. Air conditioning was very effective and welcome during the cold rainy weather! During rain showers, muddy water pooled over the pavement towards the door, this is an inconvenience that can be prevented. Most beautiful view to the mountain from the porch! Free WI-FI was sufficient for light use. Cleaners are always friendly and willing to help.

The cleaners can do a more thorough job. Our bedding was already smelly upon arrival. I reported it but nothing was done about it. The unit also had an unpleasant smell. Furthermore, we had a great time and enjoyed the facilities very much!
Had a great time at ATKV Drakensville. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Cottage was perfect for what we needed, neat and clean. We had unexpected "visitors" in the kitchen (ants) but moved around them. Thanks to ATKV Drakensville and staff. We will definitely visit again!

Our family is going through a tough time with COVID and needed a break. Drakensville met everything we needed. We were able to relax and enjoy all the amenities. Our daughter did miss the horses, but we were able to find another place to ride. This was our second visit to Drakensville and will definitely go again.
The hot pool was neat and clean. Grandchildren really enjoyed the holiday program and activities. The Saturday afternoon barbecues with porridge and gravy were good and delicious. Overall very satisfied.
It looks like the perfect holiday place for a family with children and also to just relax in general.

Our unit was neat and clean and plenty of space. The people who came to clean every day were friendly and quick. The food and other amenities were very good. Easy check in and check out.

It was just an overnight stay to break a long road with a 10 month old baby, so it was just B&B - but we could stay until later than the check-out time. All the facilities were in good order and worked as they should, except for the things that, due to Covid was out of bounds. Not many nature things you can do there like hiking trails etc. not, but if you're only looking for swimming pools and well pits it will be good enough.
We didn't need to drive around at all to keep kids busy. There was more than enough to enjoy and the food at the restaurant was delicious.

During these difficult times people can feel free to support this resort during off season times as well.
As one would expect from all ATKV resorts, the staff work long hours to provide us with a clean and safe environment in which to relax. Staff were friendly and helpful. Recreation program for children and adventure programs such as hiking and abseiling in which adults could participate. Had the audacity to leave my gear outside under my Rally tent without any fear of anything getting lost. Resort visitors, whether they were campers or residents of holiday homes, subject to the same code of conduct signed at reception. No rowdiness or unruly behavior was detected and we had good relations as well as constructive conversations with our fellow vacationers. Environment was safe for children to come and go, and security and maintenance staff regularly made rounds of the resort via battery powered golf carts. Facilities were clean and tidy. We were also able to use the resort as a base camp from which to explore the Central Drakensberg for short day hikes. One will only have to get up early to start walking from MonksCowel's information center as early as ten o'clock, for example, as gates close again at 6 p.m. and all visitors must be out. Due to Covid-19, day visitors are not allowed to enjoy a fizzy drink after a long walk on the verandas of hotels such as near Champagne Castle as before. It's only for residents booked in under that resort's Covid-19 containment control regulations. However, there are roadside stands on the route where you can enjoy a breakfast or a snack. But pack your basket for the day so you won't come away empty-handed. We will come again and we will explore further too.

Resort containing all necessary for a relaxed holiday. Away from city noise and smog. With restaurant and shop on site and all the activities, it's an all in one package.

The various sources of information did not agree on when the restaurant is open and when the cafeteria is spread out for COVID.
Accommodation was excellent and the places are well maintained. We stayed in one of the apartments for 4 people, think No. 5. Place was clean and tidy. Only problem I can mention is that the room with the two single beds where I slept has no power plug at all. But everything else was nice. Lots of fun activities and the hot water pool was a plus.

Would help if there could be road sign for Drakensville both sides of the road. The fridge's freezer compartment was very full of ice, which was a bit of a problem for frozen food that had to stay frozen. Good reception at restaurant.

With a one year old who gets bored quickly and it rained every day it was a bit difficult. It would have been nicer if there was a big indoor play area for little ones. You can fog it once or twice a day for Covid.
We were happy to be able to get away for a weekend and really enjoyed it as it was our little girl's first camping experience.
There was more than enough to keep the kids busy within whistling distance and the long garage was a bonus.
Coolboxes were outside back door after we washed them in the afternoon. It was stolen during the night. Staff acted quickly but never had feedback again.

It is clean, with a child-friendly area and can move around outside with the children. Swimming pools are top notch.
The units are beautiful and neat. We thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and the facilities. Our built-in braai only smoked us out on the stoep, the chimney doesn't work at all. This is our only complaint. Next time we will get one of the loose braai from the caravan and camping area and braai under the stoep.
There is so much to do in the resort as well as in the area. Tranquil as well as very safe for children.

The view is beautiful and the pool was nice.
Stayed in a chalet for 4 people, the type where you and your neighbor are separated by a wall. Chalet nicely redone, nicely tiled, bathrooms too and shower very spacious and conveniently large, new kitchen with snappy chef induction hobs and granite tops, even dining not the usual hostel type. The following were conspicuously missing: 1) No lace curtains in the rooms, just a regular curtain that was thick enough to keep out the morning sun. 2) The kitchen again only had a lace curtain. The most negative aspect is the beds, the mattresses are very soft or tired or tired or call it what you want but not good for a tired traveller. ATKV can easily replace the mattresses. Not least the service was first class.

Beautiful gardens, caravan sites are spacious and still offer some privacy. Pit-pit track lacks attention and unfortunately there was no check on the equipment. Don't know if it's because of Covid or just how things are done now. It was all negative thing we experienced.
From the time we got there until we left, the pools were not cleaned once. Hot and cold pools were full of sand and smelled of urine.

People sitting in the indoor pool drinking alcohol from glass bottles. Their shouting and singing was really bad, they were asked to be softer and they just said they wouldn't. It was really bad that certain people just didn't follow the rules.
The restaurant's (Koswerf) meals are excellent. Facilities at the resort are very well maintained and offer a great variety of entertainment for adults and children. The only problem is there is no big supermarket nearby.

We were really pleasantly surprised. Everything was very well organised. The rooms were clean, neat and very well equipped. And was also cleaned every morning. The hot water covered pool was our highlight. We also spent the sunshine days by the outdoor pool and even got complimentary foot massages, which was great. And then decided to go for a back massage later that day at the on-site spa. The spa is a bit old as you walk in. But the rooms are nice and neat and the towels clean. The massages were also very nice. We will definitely go back there and definitely recommend it.

We unfortunately had a very short stay due to hikers being trapped in the berg so we only arrived around 11pm and left at 10am. However, we would very much like to return. All was clean and comfortable and well equipped (much better than I was expecting). It was raining so we couldn't use the pools and other amenities which was a pity. Will definitely recommend and hope to get back there soon.
This is a great place for kids and adults and we are already planning our next trip to the resort.
The children thoroughly enjoyed everything! The store has pretty much everything you need. The hot water pool is a big plus and the supertube was a lot of fun for the children! Upgrades can be made to the putt-putt courses as well as certain aspects of the accommodation. But otherwise we had a very nice stay!

ATKV offers a nice resort with many activities. The restaurant was cozy in the evening and the warm water pool is nice in the winter. We explored the Northern Drakensberg from here. Royal Natal Park has nice walking trails and Action Adventure is a must for mountain biking, zipline etc.
Me, my wife and our baby went to rest for a week at ATKV Drakensville. There was a school group during our time there, and the school accommodation is opposite the B&B rooms where we stayed, so they sometimes got noisy and disturbed a bit of our silence. At the pool they have activities for children and play music etc. I don't love it, I go to rest and seek silence. But yes, that's just one reason why I don't like ATKVs in general. The restaurant's B&B processes were different every morning, as if there was no standard. One day we are told what we can take, another day we choose from the menu. The pros are the Drakensberg view and the amount of people there are very few, this is a big winner for me. The premises are very nice clean and tidy. The staff is always friendly, it was nice to come to the room every day and see how nicely they cleaned.
The resort itself is very neat with fun activities to keep children busy. The cottages are well furnished with cutlery and bedding. The stove was very dirty, think attention could be paid to cleaning it properly before new guests check in.
Very nice place, except one can hear everything through the walls. Our neighbours had a 5 month old baby and we couldn't sleep when he was crying. Could even hear neighbours walking around in the apartment. Only 2-bed units.

Lovely resort with beautiful swimming pools and a convenient shop and restaurant. A bit disappointed that the air-con in our chalet (no.60) didn't work and that the promised repair man never pitched, so it was very hot in our unit.
Our concern was on the cleaning of the rooms. We were not happy at all. Bedding was not changed. However big ups to the kitchen staff for preparing nice meals. There is still room for improvement on customer service. We requested an iron Saturday morning - never received it. Then requested it again on Sunday morning - that's when we received it.
We have been a few times and always enjoyed the great hospitality and fun atmosphere. Great time for family.

No complains of children being bored and, being there previously with a group of children, the organised activities were professionally planned and enjoyed by all.
Don't let the outside deceive you; inside it is so beautiful and all of their facilities, from the chalet to relaxation, is of outstanding quality. The restaurant's a la cart menu was great for dinner as well as for breakfast.

Everything was fantastic, except for the person who was responsible for cleaning room 14, the person had to be looked for everyday to come and clean and if you return from the swimming pool at 15:00 you expect that the place must be clean already.

Our stay was perfect. We were a group of approximately 15 people and I never heard anyone complain about anything. The only complaint that I have is the signage for the very sharp bends in the road leading to the resort. Twice I nearly went off the road because there is insufficient signage to warn about the sharp bends. I feel persons arriving in the dark could end up in the field.
We were very cold. A heater and electrical blanket would've helped. The house was like the inside of a fridge.
Just found the restaurant staff (waiters) slow and not that friendly.

Beautiful views, lots of great activities for the kids, extremely safe, fantastic little resort. My only gripe was that the extra blanket in the closet was presumably not newly washed or had a slightly musty smell on it. The beds and unit were clean, tidy, albeit basic finishes. Carry a heater or extra blankets of your own should you expect it to be extremely cold.

The place is quite acceptable if one wants to stay for a night or extremely two. The asbestos houses are old and somewhat neglected but for a night it is not too bad.
The experience was very pleasant and we enjoyed it very much. We were just worried because I called ATKV myself 2 weeks before our booking to confirm that they had our booking and that there would be a place on site to get dinner (we were sleeping over on a Sunday) and I was told that the restaurant will be open. We got there late (after 4) and then went to see what there was to do and what time the eatery would close, the eatery was not open, I had to call the manager on duty to find out where we were able to get food (I have a 2 year old child who was hungry) we then had to get back in the car and drive 25 km further to get food for the evening, but otherwise it was nice.
Guests with children (about 8 to 10 years old) allowed kids to run around the swimming pool yelling and screaming. It was a nuisance.
Everything that was mentioned in the marketing of Drakensville was there.

Initially we were not so impressed with the appearance of the houses, but at the end we did enjoy our stay. The vacation program that they offer is excellent for young and old. The little animal farm was the biggest source of entertainment as we have a young child, highlight of the day! The aircon in the lounge was just wonderful, but the bedrooms were really hot. They could at least add some fans.

I spent 5 days over the New year 2016/2017 with my family and friends at Drakensville. Extremely well run resort, staff very courteous, helpful and friendly. Great facilities for adults & children. Daily entertainment around the pool. Loved the indoor heated pool and the Super Tube. Well stocked coffee shop/Tearoom and an excellent restaurant. Average prices. Well situated with organised walks on most days. Only negative is that our towels were not changed for the full 5 days.
Would definitely go back to this resort. Loved the warm water pools.
Just a few suggestions/comments I would like to mention during our stay at Drakensville from 28 Dec 2016 to 03 Jan 2017 (room unit 61): 1. Please include a skoppie and small brush in the house, as I struggled to clean trash and then had no option but to pick it up with my hands. 2. The spens door need Q20 to eliminate the "spens" cupboard not making a constant squeaky noise, when opening and closing. 3. Please provide "vatlappies"/oven gloves, as I struggled to take out hot dishes from the oven, Fortunately I brought my own. 4. Fridge need to be defrosted. 5. Curtain rails need to be fixed - see photo. 6. Air conditioner did not work. 7. One low light (from the roof) at the edge of the kitchen nook table was out of order. 8. Replace stop rubber in the hall way, as the door handle will keep on damaging the wall (see photo). Our stay was very pleasant and we felt safe. (Ref no: LS-WFXZ4).
Very comfortable clean and tidy resort with very nice restuarant food of good quality. Shop on resort well equipped with a variety of products. Customer service in some areas of resort not so friendly and not in Afrikaans either. Would like to be served more in Afrikaans as it is an ATKV resort. Certain entertainment facilities were not up to standard in terms of service and maintenance such as: volleyball, putt putt. A lot of English holidaymakers have been over the July school holidays.
The unit was neat and spacious. The living area is larger than one would expect. The grounds were well looked after and the roses were beautiful. The people were very friendly.
