No electricity. No backup power for the duration of stay.
The toilet seat was broken in the unit where we stayed. The room also smelled of smoke. Coffee and tea were scarce. No milk. I am allergic to milk powder. Other than that, had a nice stay.
Shower uncomfortable to bath in. No hot water the next morning 13/07 to bath. This was our anniversary and had to start the day early to make a few appointments. No hot water in the sink tap. Not the same room we saw pics for.
This is the most horrible place I have ever come across with racist and rude owners. They have no people skills. I will never put my foot on this premises ever again. The treatments we got from them is an experience I wish I can forget. If you are not white you will be ill-treated. We had no hot water and were delayed by travelling home to our children by 3 hours. The electricity kept tripping, and when complaining to the owners, they got rude and wanted us out of their facilities. We asked for our money back, and by this, they brought us buckets of hot water and dumped it by the door for us to bathe with. The bathroom is a hazard on its own because the window beam is collapsing and was kept in place by a wooden pole aligned on another. The blankets had a stinking smell, and the shower was broken and dirty.
Had a great stay, room was clean and tidy and slept great. Thank you for your hospitality.
We only booked for an overnight stay, but didn't want to go to bed that night or drive the next morning. It was the most beautiful place I have ever booked. I've had a few nasty surprises, but this one was definitely worth it — neat, clean, comfortable, hospitable and the most beautiful view.

Atrocious inhumane treatment from the caretaker/receptionist. The service we received was atrocious. The woman at the reception was so rude. We were a group of 5 couples. One of the self-catering room stoves was not working, and in one room the fridge was not working. We reported it, but the complaint fell on deaf ears. When we asked to borrow dinner plates, we were told that the rooms we had booked didn't come with plates. The rules of the establishment state that "no loud music after 22:00," but we were told to turn off our music at around 19:00. It was not even loud. We were a group of 10, so obviously we were going to be loud when talking. The towels are as hard as mielie sacks (we advised on how to keep the towels fresh and soft). Two days into the stay, I asked for a clean bed sheet, and I was told they only changed the sheets once a week. There was no solar lamp for load shedding, and the bedside lamps were not working. Our friends and families saw our pictures and want details of the B&B, but we refused to share them because of the terrible inhumane service we received. None of my friends and family will be going to that place. They don't even deserve the 1-star rating.
Unusable brown water, thinly used towels, inadequate linens such as sheets and blankets (on a cold night), a microwave and TV not working, no mirror. No water in the fridge. It is clear that the room was not pre-inspected to provide comfort.
After they cleaned my room, they also left my room door wide open. Fortunately, I didn't have expensive things in my room that could be stolen, but if I had them, they could be stolen.
Unfortunately, this property does not belong on the website. I arrived an hour early and was asked to pay R100 to get the room ready early. I just waited outside and at 14:00 (check-in time) I was called to sign in. Don't waste your money here, the price is way too high for what you get! On arrival in the room there was no toilet paper put out and I had to ask. The coffee, sugar and tea containers were never refilled. (Over the total 3 days' stay). The last night I was at a work function, and upon arrival at 9.30pm no coffee cups or teaspoons were available in the room again. (This after the room was cleaned that day). The last morning when I wanted to shower, my soap and shower gel were also removed. Upon arrival I also found champagne corks in the room that had been lying there for who-knows-how-long and had never been picked up. No ironing facilities available in the rooms. Bedside lamps did not work. If you do not have a DStv stream package you will not be able to catch Binnelanders. There is no DStv available here, only OpenView with SABC and eTV. No what, I've stayed in much better places for less, with full DStv options. Will not book here again. Good points: Clean every day. WiFi during load shedding.
Very peaceful environment where Aviators is located. Spacious rooms. Beautiful swimming pool. Good quality beds that let you rest well.
Host was very friendly with our children. Felt completely comfortable being with children at our family room.
It would be good if Aviators Retreat invested in a hand soap to wash your hands with. The towels also need to be replaced they were cooked.
Could give us a little more time to check out as we wanted to swim a little longer.
The website indicates that arrival time is between 14:00 and 17:00. Aviator Retreat expected me at 2pm and upon my arrival at 3pm my departure was given away. Room was dirty and had to be cleaned first.
We have quite regular experience of guesthouses and B&Bs. Stayed 3 nights in Aviator's Retreat and definitely expected better for the price. Had to ask for refills of coffee, sugar and powdered milk. Only one small bottle of shower soap was provided and not replaced again. The shower is not a shower and needs urgent attention. The bathtub's enamel is worn and looks very bad. The towels are worn and need to be replaced. At least the bed was clean. Consideration may be given to providing a flashlight in the rooms for use during load shedding.
Bad experience. Swearing and fighting in room next door. Not sure of it was owner and son or who. Felt very threatened and unsafe. No generator, was told if loadshedding owner would bring a candle. Bathroom window broken. No heater, only on blanket. I passed over a place that I knew that was cheaper than this place but was much better value for money. Place's photos and what is exactly there is two different things totally.
It's a peaceful and lovely bed to sleep in and the room is very nice and clean and has everything you need.

Place is neat and clean. Feel free to change the shower head to one that doesn't just spray a jet of water. The gate is a problem. Put a remote on each key instead.
We slept well here in a comfortable clean bed. Unfortunately, the accommodation was quite run-down and needs much maintenance. Hopefully, Aviators can be restored to its former glory.
Stayed for a wedding in the area. So just slept. Room was clean and everything was tidy. Everything was good.
That was the only major concern; serious health and hygiene risk. There are actually 2 such units. Rooms 9 and 10 are situated next to each other.

The lady was so rude and the doors did not lock. There was no door on the bathroom. No Wi-Fi, no DStv. We felt unwelcome from the start. It was the first time ever booking into a place and this has put me off completely. I'd rather drive back than to sleep over again.

It is a B&B but they did not offer breakfast. They also didn't have milk or powder milk for the coffee.
I booked and paid for a specific room. Upon arrival, the room was approved for another person and the owner wanted to put us in a cheaper room. Room walls and bathroom ceiling were covered with "mould". This is not the result of another incident but purely poor or no cleaning of the areas. After refusal we were taken to room 5. While the place is beautiful outside and a lot of effort is put into it, repairs are not done in the rooms. The ceiling's paint peeling off. When you're on the bed, you can literally write in the garbage on the ceiling - if you can get through the spider web. The furniture was covered in dust and sticky. The chairs are filthy. The curtains black and dirty. The previous resident's leftover articles were still in the fridge. Similarly, bars of soap were still on the shower floor where the previous resident showered. The soap bottles were quarter full and only 1 stained towel for 2 people. Again, places in the bathroom had mold. We refused to use the breakfast because if their guest rooms look like that I don't want to see what the kitchen looks like. The receptionist was very friendly but other than that it was pathetic. And this is just basic deep cleaning work that needs to be done. Clearly there is no respect for guests.
Reception was top notch. Stopped and lady was greeted at the door on my last name! That's service! They also knew who was coming at what time. Great, thank you.
The place looks nice but it was not clean, it was so dusty and there was no toiletpaper on arrival and the bulbs were not working. Their breakfast was terrible, we did not even finish it. Everyone was so disappointed and hungry after trying to eat.

The place was nice, but cleanliness was an issue. The cleaning staff did not clean our room on the 1st morning. We went to the casino at 13:00 and came back at 21:00 and our room was very dirty and beds not made, bathroom not cleaned, towels not changed. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay there and I would recommend the Aviators to a friend.
Clean, but very basic. No door to bathroom/toilet (a huge embarrassment if a person needs to use the facility whilst the other is in the adjacent room). Shower door inoperative. Hot and cold water taps are incorrectly marked. TV cables visible and poorly installed. Fridge not plugged in, so no ice or cold water on arrival. This indicates that no preparation is made in anticipation of arrival. No person available to meet us at arrival, had to call manager and she called helper to open for us. Trying for trendy look, but with clashing old fashioned pictures. View to backyard and rusty dry linen rack and garden shed. Not a great view at all as depicted in the pictures. Quiet location though.
The accommodation was clean and neat. The hosts were friendly and helpful, but some of the electrical fittings and cupboards are of poor quality.
There was no sign outside to indicate the guest house. We struggled to gain access to the guest house. The first room we were put in smelled of smoke. The security gate of the second room closes with difficulty. There is no milk for your coffee, and no soap and shampoo. The windows were dirty. Disappointed. We drove without breakfast.
I will visit the place again anytime I am in the area. Definitely recommended to my family and friends. Beautiful. Thanks for such places at reasonable prices.
The room is well equipped and very tidy. The most amazing thing was that there is a bathtub and a shower. I don't like showering, but my husband does. Marie is very nice and we will use her services again. A further bonus is the beautiful view.

It had been so-so.
Upon arrival, the lady requested that we pay a higher amount than indicated on our confirmation. When I inquired about the amount she said that she wanted to give me change the next morning, but we left early. That's not true, we didn't leave until 08:30. There was also no loose change involved in the amount of R350.00 she asked from us - the exact amount was handed over to her like that. Very disappointing. The lady was not aware of our reservation. Our unit was under construction. Electrical wiring is hanging loose, electrical switches are open, cabinets and ceiling are not finished, the situation at the pool is very dangerous, not enough toilet paper in the bathroom, cold faucet in sink can't open... The feeling that we got was that no room was prepared for us and when we arrived we were assigned any room.
I was at a wedding and texted to let them know what time I would be arriving. The rooms are facing the open pool, you have no space if there is a chair in front of your door. It's dangerous! The TV wouldn't work. There is mold on the ceiling, walls, shower and bed. The two chairs still had their stickers from the auction on them and the armrests were dirty. I didn't get a remote control, the other guests just had to unlock it for me. I will never go there again.

Overall the unit we had was spotless and well equipped. The only thing missing was DStv which we would have enjoyed, and would recommend that you offer selective, compact channels, as we only had TV 1,2,3 + E. Many thanks for the warm welcome we received.
