120 guests' feedbackSeat was nice, spacious. Value for money.
Very nice and the house was nice and warm.
Our people had a nice stay.
Maybe now is the time for a good upgrade of all the facilities. Everything looks a bit old now and after Covid there had not been a modernization programme. Otherwise a pleasant experience.
Very comfortable, central and staff were extremely hospitable and considerate. Secure premises and restaurants available on premises. Rooms comfortable with basic necessities.
Very nice overnight stay. Delicious breakfast and friendly and wonderful staff. For sure, kitchenware and cutlery are missing.
Bains Lodge is well located, close to the N1 and was an ideal overnight accommodation from the Eastern Cape en route to Gauteng. A delicious breakfast was included which makes the stay good value for money.
We had a lovely stay and the accommodation was good.
Bains Lodge is noisy. People don't care about rules.
Our apartment was dirty and old, and not everything was in working order.
The service was relatively good and the breakfast was particularly tasty. It is a nice place to relax and stay.
Bathroom was very small with an uncomfortable shower and the roof was black with mold. Bedding was poor quality. Will not stay here again and do not recommend.
We have stayed at Bains Lodge before. The visit was a disappointment. Our accommodation, no. 19, was so dirty that I asked for another cottage. The place was just so dirty. In the evening, the receptionist brought clean linen for the beds as well as clean towels. We also had to get security to look after our boat and vehicle as there were a lot of vagrants on site all night. No control over access at the gate.
We moved our booking with no problem. It's a beautiful lodge with cabins, in which we stayed and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Love Bains Lodge, stayed there before.
Unit safe. Only couch was very hard.
Had a great time, the problem is if it rained a lot and you drive with a normal car you have trouble getting to the cabins, they might just have to find a solution there. The WiFi we had to use was more off than on, they just need to work on it.
As advertised. Would stay there again.
Beautiful rooms.
I can recommend Bains Lodge, the booking options are very confusing, there is Bains Lodge yet another Bains Lodge, and you don't know which one you are going to check into.
Chalet was full of sand, spider webs and bathroom was very dirty.
No air conditioning in the rooms. The air conditioning in the living area is not cold enough and is very old. Rooms' doors cannot close. Shower faucets do not work properly, and are of such a nature that I could not shower my children. Either you burn or you get cold. Cigarette butts are scattered on the ground around the house. There is not even grass for children to play on at the cottage. Just dirt with thorns. I won't stay there again for sure.
We were initially worried after hearing that there was a night club on the premises and that the lodge was noisy. Our cabin was away from the main lodge, newly redone with new equipment and furniture. It was clean and tidy and dead quiet. The Bushpub family restaurant is within walking distance with a supervised indoor play area. Delicious food and good service. Our overall experience was very positive.
Young people party until 5:00 the next morning. Very disturbing.
The cottage is simply furnished with the necessary items, clean, good bed. Close to busy main road. The manager was very helpful and friendly.
We got there in the dark. Directions to cottage not very clear. Floors were not clean.
The self-catering chalet for two people was short of certain kitchen items. Only 1 teaspoon, 1 knife, 1 large plate. The stove had not been cleaned after the previous guests. Had to ask them to come and sweep the porch which was then under the yellow flowers. Christmas morning when we entered reception we were not greeted with Christmas wishes before we did not convey Christmas wishes to reception. Thought that because of Covid that places like this would go the extra mile with their guests!
Groups of people in other rooms, making it impossible to rest, very noisy till late at night. Management has no control. We will not stay here ever again. Bad experience.
The staff went the extra mile to make us stay comfortable for us. Hotel room was nice and very neat.
Good service and friendly staff.
Rooms were clean. One unit had a water problem and was not repaired before we left.
The room was tidy and the air conditioner a welcome bonus. The staff went out of their way to help us. The silence that reigned was wonderful and we could enjoy the cool waters of the pool. Knowing that there were security officers made us feel safe.
Great stay, very flexible environment.
Lots of noise until 4 in the morning.
Was a very nice weekend, the bathroom needs attention. There was also motorcycle noise at the bush bar. Would have preferred more privacy.
Don't have to leave the premises.
I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely go back again, only one thing that put me off is when I paid extra for the cabin I stayed in, my card was thrown on the table, this is very unprofessional and made me very angry put off
During my visit it rained a lot and we had to spend the whole evening in the wooden house. The small living room does not create a very cozy atmosphere. The power points in the kitchen are also too few, to supply the microwave oven with power you have to take out the refrigerator's power plug.
Lots of noisy guests on my doorstep and insufficient refreshments like tea, coffee etc. regarding with no milk put out. There was also only one set of towels even though we were two guests and it was clearly indicated as such. When we checked out, no one asked me how my visit was or if everything was alright, leaving no opportunity to complain.
Stayed in number 2 and the carpets are filthy. Complained about it but nothing happened. Was too scared to walk on it barefoot. Dirty room in general. Never ever again, can't recommend at all.
The chalets was bad and can't be recommended.
I booked a stand alone unit. 2 rooms with bathroom. On arrival they gave me a single room in the hotel corridor. Toilet rim was dirty, the floor in the room was not washed. Would not recommend.
Dit was baie vuil en die plekkies het instandhouding nodig.
Bains Lodge is exactly what the pictures show. The place was clean, tidy with everything you need. Very friendly reception.
It was the perfect overnight stay from Gauteng to the Cape. We were able to arrive very late in the evening because the reception is open 24 hours. The staff is very friendly. The room is clean and the bed was very comfortable. We started our trip to Cape very early the next morning after a good night's rest and had no problems with the staff at reception. They were still as friendly as when we arrived.
We had a great time and rested.
Definitief waarde vir geld, Kliëntediens was uitstekend, Netheid - 100%, Ligging - naby alles, Veiligheid, 100%. Kan met gemak enigeen aanbeveel om gebruik te maak vir julle verblyf!
It was a good experience. Clean, safe, friendly.
We had a very nice stay, place was tidy at all times, family enjoyed a lot with the animals that walked between our places of stay. It was very exciting for my child and we will definitely stay there again.
Easy to book accommodation and took just a couple of minutes to check in. Clean neat and tidy.
We had a great stay!
Stayed surprisingly warm. Well equipped and the special offers in the restaurant make it worth a visit.
Rooms are neat and clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Might pay attention to the shower. Tiles are broken and maybe mildew used to clean shower. But otherwise what we paid and what we got was worth it.
The log cabins can easily do with basic maintenance. Like paint.
Good normal stay, room clean and tidy, thank you very much.
It was secure. The service at the reception was very friendly. The room met the requirements for the price that was paid. One towel was a bit dirty, but otherwise no other complaints. I'll recommend Bains Lodge to people who needs a place to overnight.
Everything was very neat and clean. The only thing that bothered me was the music of the nearby clubs that carried on until the early hours of the morning.
Unit was clean and tidy.
Dit was baie lekker. Cabins is net koud. In die somer sal dit baie lekker wees.
Was checked into Log Cabin no2. First, rooms were much smaller than advertised. Second, the building was extremely dirty inside. I couldn't believe they would book someone into a place like that. If photos are desired I can forward. After we complained they upgraded us to a Honeymoon Suite at no extra cost. That room was really very neat and we had a good night there.
Just not impressed if I compare to other similar priced stay overs.
The lodge hotel is nice with friendly staff. Unfortunately, there was a loud person at the bar at 3:00 in the morning who woke us up and after that the person made a noise with his car for half an hour till about 4:30. Otherwise, the mattresses and other facilities are on a standard level.
We were disappointed by the permanent residents washing and repairing their cars in the parking lot and simply refusing to settle down when guests are trying to sleep. Made me think of a university residence.
Dirty, smelling, no hot water. Moved to another room and found shower to be very dirty. The Entrance gate to “A” where I stayed broken and had to walk through the complex to get to my room. This place is in serious need of upgrading. Will never ever stay there again. Terrible place.
The place is incredibly dirty, my whole family and I decided not to even use the bathroom, the urine has pooled around the toilet and stained the white tiles yellow, the furniture is broken and there is no maintenance.
Anyone can drive through at any time of the night or day, no checks at security points. Gate always open.
Misrepresentation of the overnight rooms. No fridge or microwave, the curtains were dirty, the patio was not swept, tables and chairs outside were dirty. Tremendous amount of noise, loud music from cars and vacuum cleaners where they were washing cars and running water. Screaming workers. Unsecured doors, no security.
We are housed in the permanent block. The place was noisy because people stay there. It felt like an apartment complex where people barbecue on their porches and hang laundry openly on their balconies. Really? At R799 a night? It's crazy.
No packing. Noise in the evening 12 o'clock and bugs bite me in the bed in the evening.
Surprising little place, our place to sleep was cozy and well equipped. We had a great meal at Bushbar.
It was super nice, I would just maybe recommend putting a small fridge in maybe. Thank you.
Sal enige tyd Bains aanbeveel.
As ons Bloem toe kom,ly os by Baines. Waar anders?
Thanks for the excellent service.
The parking for block A where I was placed was way too far from the room and you have to get out to open the electric gate with the tag. Not convenient when it is so cold. Parking definitely needs attention, will not stay in block A again.
Stayed in a self-catering chalet with access control. Everything neat, comfortable and clean. Power was out from the second night, but generator provided us with power. Music from the saloon was very loud and disturbing until late. Lions Lare a convenient pub with affordable prices and good food, as well as Bush Pub but somewhat more expensive. It rained while we were there and therefor the area around the Bush Pub and log cabins almost inaccessible without a 4x4. Chalet is serviced daily and fresh towels are provided.
From the moment I arrived I was warmly received. No unnecessary problems. Quick service and nothing was out of place. Everything was neat and clean and very convenient. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Although the service and cleanliness were great, there was a "bar" near our room and we traveled from Pretoria, we had terrible trouble sleeping with the noise.
Slept well! Bed was good! Overall not bad but lacks maintenance - broken tiles in hallway and staircase / walls in unit have many marks / chair broken / TV very old and channels very limited. However, the room is spacious. Parking is far from the room, in our case it was raining and with two walks to the car and back we were wet. However, the room was clean and the staff were friendly when we checked in.
It was nice to rest after a long trip, but it would have been nice to have WiFi in the log cabins and not just in the reception area of the hotel. Log cabin clean and tidy. But DStv package was disappointing and most of the channels did not work. Would have loved to swim but not sure where the pool was so I think next time I might stay in the hotel rather than the log cabins as I think it's a bit closer to als. But other than that it was a peaceful "stopover" on the way back to the Cape.
There is a club in the front. Our room was behind it - the "aircon" of club was roaring and there were also people moving around during the night.
Positive: Close to highway, friendly service, reasonable room. Negatives: Only wildlife seen was of the statue type, rooms reeked of smoke, and might as well have been in city center block of flats. Site constantly busy with cars and people, and bypass noisy. DStv is a joke and I'm still looking for WiFi. Neutral: Bar restaurant has good atmosphere and good food, but nothing different from any other bar. Some of the so-called wooden cabins that must be on site (according to site layout in room) have already been replaced with 'townhouses'. Not at all what we expected to get.
Good customer service and good location. The place just smelled a lot of smoke and curtains in the room could not be opened to let in fresh air.
When we arrived they told us with the wall issue in Cabins. The sofa was stained and doesn't look good, also insect issue. But otherwise, comfortable.
The accommodation wasn't ready for guests and we had to go back to reception where a different place was given to us, but two of the four beds were broken.
Looks as if they are renovating Bains Lodge and it is high time because the "log cabins" are neglected. Nice stay in number 6, but the other log cabins reeked of smoke and the curtains were not in working order.
Chalet and furniture need renovation, not very clean, late night noise.
The entire place seems ramshackle and dirty. Very noisy the entire evening and into the wee hours of the morning. Look as though it serves as permanent student accommodation.
The service was very poor, had to call for most of the things, plug points faulty and always tripping. The cleaner was so unfriendly and lazy, never cleaned the shower cubicle, finally the toilet/shower was blocked on thursday, reception informed and they sent someone who did not do a good job and we had to sleep in a room stinking and faeces full in the shower. When we called reception to tell them that I need to bath and go before 7 they brought another key for another room and it had the same problem and I had to call again using my cellphone because the phone was not working from the time we arrived so all the calls were done using cellphone and finally they brought another and said the room was already booked for the day but we were already there and couldn't get a decent room after a long wait then they allowed to use the room on the last day of our stay and I was late for my workshop.
The log cabins are really old and tired. They are in a very bad condition. When I found a dirty knife in the drawer after I'd found a dirty mug and the kitchen sink didn't have hot water, I was done. The fridge froze our food. The shower's hot water tap falls off. The floor is sticky beneath your feet. The coffee isn't coffee but Ricoffy and Frisco - your choice of chicory. The bush pub's music is deafening. My bedroom had a curtain on the bed and I had to hang it up myself. Bains Lodge has wild hadedas and angry ex guests. No, never again, thank you.
Had the worst night of sleep ever at a lodge. Clients are given accommodation close to a pub (actually next to the rooms) where loud music is playing daily till 4 in the morning. Reception couldn't be reached or accessed at 2 in the evening and after Googling a contact number were informed that they do not know how to handle the situation and couldn't provide a solution. Total waste of money.
The lodge and the hotel might be better. The aircon was great though.
There's a pub about 200 m from where we stayed on the premises, thus there was lots of noise till early hours of Saturday morning. The log cabin we stayed in was not well maintained. The sink was dirty around the taps. There were lots of dead ants on the floor thus showing that the place was not cleaned adequately.
Worth the money, comfortable overnight accommodation.
I preferred the more luxurious chalet, but it is also very basic. Still had a good night's rest though.
We slept in no 1. which was at the cleaning staff's tea room, so from very early on they make noise. I've also looked into garbage cans when I walk out the door. Staff literally hang over bins and stare at you when you unlock your door.
I am referring to a reservation made for my parents, who traveled from Cape Town to attend a family funeral, on 30 June 2016. Although the guest room was very comfortable and clean, the bar had unbearably loud music from 10pm in the evening made to 4:00 a.m. the next morning. Needless to say, there was no rest or sleep at all. They informed reception about the loud noise on several occasions throughout the night. Apparently, the person on duty asked the bartender to turn the music down but his request was ignored. In the end, the SAP was contacted to file a complaint of rest disturbance. The overnight experience was extremely unpleasant to say the least. We request that the overnight charges be refunded because we are very disappointed with the experience. We have also not been contacted by Bains Gastehuis or given feedback regarding our request.
Unit was tidy with basic stuff. No braai facilities at the unit. The duvet cover is much larger than the duvet inside. No security ─ anyone can enter and exit. Lots of noise.
I have received better accommodation for the same price. It was okay, but I think it can be better.
Should be able to find better accommodation in Bloem.
It was a first time for me to wake up all night because of ants in my bed. Have to say: then I'd rather take "bedbugs". It was also not clean enough for my liking.
See the stars.
See the stars.
We drove from Bloubergstrand, and needed a rest. It was a big mistake to sleep here. We were kept awake until 03:00 Sunday morning with people screaming, cars speeding and music playing from cars. We asked to be moved because we have an 11 week old baby, but the reception just let us know that it will be even more noisy in their other rooms. Thank you to LekkeSlaap for your good service and support. Furthermore, the room felt dirty, you don't want to touch anything, because then your hands feel dirty. Unfortunately I cannot recommend to anyone.
Affordable and convenient!
Small day-to-day maintenance needs attention.
We had no warm water to shower in the morning. Bath was not proppely clean when we arrived. There is a stain on one of the matresses.
