219 guests' feedbackWhat a cute little place, safe and clean. We had a lot of fun.
I really enjoyed it, the silence and tranquility. For me it is a nice rest time. My busy life at the guesthouse I need such quiet places. It recharges my soul.
We had an extremely pleasurable stay! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, and the scenery around the lodge is beautiful. The only downside is that the cellphone signal is extremely weak, but at the same time, it was great to detox from electronic devices, and this was clearly stated on the website when we booked. Bananien Lodge is very centrally located and allows easy access to all the sights on the Panorama Route as well as the Kruger National Park. Would definitely recommend!
It is about 7km out of town in the beautiful Sabie area. It is peaceful and safe. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Perfect for a quick weekend getaway. A bit cramped for 4 adults but could live with that. The hostess was very friendly and helpful.
Exceptional stay.
The place is scenic and a break away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We enjoyed the tranquility and peace away from electrical gadgets and left the place feeling really relaxed and refreshed.
Rest for the soul, peace.
Our stay was amazing, the log cabin was clean and our host was very welcoming. The kids enjoyed it and wish for us to book again.
Great place and the host is an awesome with a lovely personality. Would like more comfortable beds with no duck feather bedding due to allergies. Would like to know which rooms have baths and which rooms have showers before booking. Would like WiFi in the rooms as there is no cellphone signal.
Stay was good and hoist accommodating.
Shower in bathtub does not work well, there were dirty coffee mugs in the cupboard and the bed headboard was very dirty. Bed not bad, rest of facilities acceptable.
We are from Johannesburg and just wanted a place to relax and have peace and quiet. This is exactly what we had. No television in the room was an extra bonus. The only suggestion to the lodge is if they can add WiFi extenders in every cabin, the signal was very unstable. Other than that, my hubby and I had an awesome time.
Very clean and tidy.
Very quiet and peaceful environment. Children really enjoyed the pool.
Adequate for the time that was spent there.
Pleasant, friendly, quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Booked lodge no 4; however, was in a kind manner offered lodges no 1 or 2, older ones. However, nevertheless enjoyed the stay.
The place is so quiet, clean and has very fresh air. I enjoyed my stay and would love to go again. It's a place to ease the mind, body and soul. The surroundings are just perfect. I'm not a photo guy, otherwise, I would have posted. Thank you.
Thanks Bananien Lodge for hosting us. Nice place, value for money.
Very calm and rested. Will definitely book again.
We were surprised with the location and scenery. Pictures do not describe how beautiful this place is. Customer service was great! The house was clean and tidy.
Fully recommendable.
We stayed over for 1 night on the way to the Wildlife Park. Would enjoy staying longer and exploring more. Nice clean self-catering house with everything you need. There was also a heater and electric blanket for the cold.
Very friendly welcome. Hut is very well equipped especially for the cold evenings and was very neat and spotless. Beautiful view and neat braai facilities. Very impressed.
Definitely value for money. Clean, nice environment, friendly service. Very impressed!
Friendly and helpful owners! Nice garden and stream that flows through the yard.
The accommodation is easily accessible right next to the road, but the traffic does not bother you at all. The garden is beautiful and the stream of water that runs past the premises adds to the tranquility. The houses are neat and clean, and well equipped with everything you need. The owners also live on the premises and went out of their way to accommodate us and make our stay as comfortable as possible. There is very little cell phone reception here, but you can switch off and enjoy the nature and beautiful garden. We will come again for sure.
Neat, clean and friendly service. Cute little place where we could just relax. Cottages comfortable and clean. Cute braai place close to the cottage which is nice and private. Swimming pool and carport for your vehicle just a bonus. Would definitely recommend the place.
The owner of the place and her son were both pleasant to talk to and helpful. The location is also very good. There is no strong WiFi, and you need to go to a certain place for WiFi, but a place like this is a perfect spot for a digital detox, forgetting the outside busy world. I would recommend a few things they can do to make the place even more attractive for future guests. 1. Have a table-top fan in each of the rooms. It'll help a lot in summer. The current ceiling fans are too slow. The weather when we came was pleasant, luckily, else it would have been very hot. 2. Change the shower in that big house on the ground floor. The water is coming very slowly.
Everything one needs. To a heater for the cold evenings. Lovely porch to relax and play board games. Sabie only 7 km away with a Spar where you can buy everything you need.
Very peaceful places. Would recommend for an overnight stay!
The road R536 to the accomodation is closed so we had to extend our journey to get there.
Nice log cabins, beautiful grounds surrounded by plantations. Very nice view while we were grilling.
No music is allowed. The fridge didn't work. No storage space for clothes and you can hardly work in the kitchen. Mattress is also bad and everyone woke up with back pain.
Would be ideal if cell phone reception and power outages could be sorted out.
Unfortunately, this place is in bad condition. It feels sad and tired.
My teenage kids, daughter age 16, and son age 17, enjoyed it to my surprise since there was no Wi-Fi connectivity and cellphones signals were unable to connect. We shared a swimming pool peacefully as we took turns using it.
We had a very nice stay. The host/wife was very friendly. If it was at all possible I would like to stay there longer. The scenery there was unforgettable. Little monkeys play around in the trees, lovely fresh air there, and so much to do in the area. Although log cabins can be cool in winter, the heater and electric and feather blankets kept us warm and cozy. Thanks to Bananien Lodge, it was nice.
A very suitable environment for a family, with a very safe swimming pool that's not too deep, warm cabin with full cutlery dishes, great big geyser.
Very stunning place, thank you very much.
Water in a swimming pool is warm and it does have that nature look especially if by want fresh air away from the city then Bananien Lodge is your place.
Our visit was very nice, the place we stayed in was 100%, the pool was nice and clean. But only one problem is there is no provision made for loadshedding, if the power goes out the house and everything outside is dark, it would be good if they could look into it. But otherwise everything was fine and the people received us kindly.
Will come back again anytime.
Only criticism is we had no aircons. Area is very hot.
The place is so wow, I enjoyed my stay.
Our stay at Bananien was comfortable. It helped a lot that there was a pool to cool off in after a hot day of exploring. Close to most attractions, waterfalls, Graskop Gorge with the Big Swing as well as Misty Mountain's Teboggan ride. A stone's throw from the game park if this is your next stop. Maggie is a friendly and helpful hostess.
We only stayed the night as we were on the road all day and left early in the morning to get to into Kruger. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and worked. Would recommend it to people exploring the area.
I will visit Bananien Lodge again.
Everything was clean and tidy, peaceful and beautiful scenery.
See stars.
Very good, nice friendly receiving.
Beautiful place. We will come again for sure.
The cellphone network is not that bad at all.
We had a good overnight experience.
Even though the children complained a lot about the poor cell phone signal in the area. It was a welcome relief for me as a parent to be able to get them to look up and experience nature again. It does wonders for the soul.
The double storey place we stayed in was very well equipped, and was nice and big and ideal for our family of 8. Would definitely recommend it, and stay there again.
It is very beautiful and peaceful. You can rest well. No cell phone signal or TV.
Very nice place to spend the night if you are in the area.
The evenings sleep, 4 days trip from Museum of Man. Bourke's Potholes, Pilgrims Rest, Waterfalls, Game Park and Sudwala Caves "round trip". And Bananien was our accommodation in the middle.
R2,400 per night was way too much for the facilities in the cabin for 8 people. The oven worked, but the stove didn't really (takes 3h to cook a pot of potatoes). The kitchen surfaces are too small to efficiently cook for 8 (7) people. There were insufficient bowls to serve food in - later corrected. The dining room table only has room for 6 people. The wardrobes are inadequate. The water pressure was very low, so that several people could not shower at the same time. There were only 6 plastic chairs on the porch. Only room for 4 people at the table on the balcony. Owner was friendly and helpful, but I still feel the price was too high. No cleaning services provided during 6 days there, due to Covid, but later provided a mop, bucket, broom, etc. got to clean floors himself.
It was horrible! Waste of money. The swimming pool was dirty and had green stuff in it. We were so uncomfortable the whole stay. Never booking this place ever again! We wasted our money!
We had a very nice stay. Very friendly and helpful owner. Good location, nice central. The wooden house was neat and clean.
Was very nice for a night or two. No problems.
Wooden chalet is equipped with a heater and an electric blanket for the cold evenings!
Lovely log cabins - very clean and comfortable. Lovely sound of waterfalls in the distance.
Very calm and quiet.
Recommended, especially with pool and waterfall in the background.

Well located, friendly and helpful people.

Lovely place! Good location and place to rest and enjoy nature.
It really felt like we where surrounded by nature and felt very peaceful, the pool is of a decent size and it is very close to Sabie town.
The log thatch cabins are well equiped with everything you need for self-catering. Situated a short drive away from Sabie. Great place to stay.
Beautifully clean. The site itself is stunning. Will definitely go again.
Have fun with good service! Was always willing to help.
I could take my two small dogs with me and we could enjoy the place in peace every day. I love the log cabin we stayed in and will definitely go again. Only one suggestion is that a provision be made for a place with a TV (the facilities are already there - it just needs a TV).
Service was good and a fast book-in. The cabin was neat and clean. Although it’s a self catering unit it would have been nice to have a some basics like coffee and sugar in cabin. We enjoyed the fact that there was no TV which allows for quality family time. Will definitely use the facility again to get away from the hustle and bustle.
Very friendly people. The place is clean and there are beautiful surroundings and lots of places to visit.
Beautiful surroundings.
Safe and well maintained grounds. Cottage is very comfortable and well furnished.
The owner of the place was super friendly and very helpful, the place was clean, neat and tidy. there was everything one would need for self catering service. there is braai areas for each and every quests, the swimming pool was clean and the place is very child friendly, beautiful views it's definitely a great place to unwind. We are definitely going back again.
Would love to have a remote for the gate, because I feel restricted by pressing the button at the gate all the time. For city people, I would like the guest house to be free of spiders before guests arrive. Behind the pool, the natural waterfall may be cleared of all the plants. Also had a great stay!
Unit was clean. Enjoyed the boma. Just no network connection from our unit, had to go to the office to read emails and whats app messages.
We had to go and buy everything at Spar in Sabie, since we traveled from Cape Town to Jhb, and got here with a rental car, we didn't bring anything with us. With the braai we also had to buy everything, there wasn't even a braai cloth/tweezers available, I saved the white drying cloth that was in the kitchen. This is a very nice place for local tourists, we traveled by plane from Cape to Jhb, and from there by rental car. We had to take our own towels with us and literally buy everything at Spar, Sabie from salt, coffee, milk, sugar, where most places to stay have coffee, sugar, milk available. Towels are also a problem, when you check out you travel further with wet towels. The braai is also not very practical, no braai tongs or braai cloths available. However, I saved the white drying cloth, otherwise they would have to throw it away after the time. However, the shower floor is very dangerously slippery when wet. Owner's son must also refrain from engaging in political/racist talk with customers.
Spent only 2 of the 9 nights there and then found accommodation at another place. Double sheet fabric old rusted and bedding clean but, old.
Everything is just good, family friendly environment
Excellent people are very friendly
The nature is beautiful and the gardens are very well maintained. The cabin was very nicely furnished and everything we needed was there. Not many resorts give you an option to easily contact them in an emergency, but Bananien gave us a panic button which made us feel very safe. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you very much!
Bananien Lodge is really value for money and the cleanliness of the cottages and the grounds is great and it is clear that the owners are proud of their place and it shows in the cleanliness of Bananien Lodge. We highly recommend the place to anyone who wants to be peaceful in a well-maintained lodge.
It was a very nice holiday, we will definitely want to come again to see the places we missed last time.
We had a nice stay. I just wish I had known ahead of time that we would be staying on the tarmac and that there was no cell phone signal and no Wi-Fi provided by the resort.
No WiFi signal. Must travel to Sabi first for signal.
Big advantage is the 2 bathrooms with more than 2 showers. Especially since it was friends who shared the accommodation. The lower shower's shower head may just need to be looked at as it does not spray strongly. One headache was the entry and exit at the gate, as you don't get a remote, but have to contact the owners each time to open through the intercom. Especially if you come in late. Will definitely use their accommodation again.
It was very nice. Very hot, and the fans at Bananien are definitely not the best.
Would recommend Banana. Wonderful stay, tranquility, hospitality and will definitely stay there again. No cell phone reception, but well worth it. You break away from the hustle and bustle of the city and phones. Jacques and Marli came to barbecue with us one night. What a privilege it was to visit with them. They are definitely tops and your stay there is definitely worth your money. Until next time!
My in-laws had been there with the grandchildren. They say the place was very cute and very clean. Very happy with the service there and the children enjoyed it immensely. Thank you very much.
Very nice place, clean, nice swimming pool, but one more thing, please get a TV.
The area is very close to surrounding restaurants and other attractions such as God's Window easy to navigate. The houses are also very beautiful and one is completely amazed with nature's sounds, sunset and sunrise. Very neat place that is professionally managed.
We had a nice stay, lovely atmosphere. Everything was clean and tidy. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend in nature. Will definitely visit again.
We had a great stay at Bananien Lodge. Beautiful lodge just outside the town with a lovely natural atmosphere. The cabin was very clean and tidy. Everything you need for a getaway. We will definitely go back again!
We had a friendly reception. Accommodation was neat and had everything that we needed. Had a nice stay and will return.
Everything was nice and clean. Sorry that Eskom made the stay difficult, but luckily we had a flash. We had a nice stay. Thank you also for the medication you provided when Elise's stomach was unwell. It worked immediately and we were able to make it home without any inconvenience.
Host very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the stay very much.
It was very nice. Thanks to Banana Lodge.
Beautiful area and comfortable accommodation.
What a pleasant trip we had, we enjoyed everything.
We confidently recommend Bananien to anyone who wants to holiday in a beautiful, peaceful setting, centrally located to the area's tourist attractions and comfortable with self-catering. The unit we stayed in was neat, clean and contained everything needed for cooking. Each unit has its own braai area and the swimming pool is on hand for that extra relaxation. The children soon got used to the weak mobile phone network and after day two it didn't even bother them anymore. Many thanks to Jaques who was always helpful and friendly. At Bananien you get exactly what they advertise and at good value for money. We will definitely go there again.
Very neat cabins, safe environment and friendly owner.
Friendly staff and an adorable swimming pool.
The scenery of the Lodge grounds and surroundings is beautiful. We had a great time swimming.
Place very nice and neat. Owners friendly. Garden incredibly beautiful. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
Since we were the only guests during our stay, it was wonderfully private. The cottages are very compact and kept neat and clean. Ideal for when you want to do other activities in the area and want to return to a peaceful relaxing atmosphere in the evenings. It was value for our money, but if we didn't get it for the promotional discount we wouldn't have paid the initial price for this type of accommodation.
If you like quiet, peace and nature, this is the place to be. Will go back. Highly recommended. Thank you, Pieter, for a very nice weekend.
A quick getaway that was definitely worth it. We really enjoyed it. Friendly service. We will definitely go again!
Very nice stay, beautiful nature and very hospitable. Friendly reception. Very pleasant place.
We stayed in the guesthouse, very spacious, very neat, the pots and cutlery was there, we were not short of anything. The hospitality was out of this world, we really had a wonderful stay and we are considering going back next year again.
We were only there for one night but is was a unique place. Friendly service. Quiet and relaxing.
We were warmly received and the house had everything you need. The visit was relaxing and the surroundings beautiful. Good resting place for sure.
The rondavel was neat and clean, the hot water in the shower was super welcome, check-in was quick and efficient. Thanks for the towels!
With so much to do in the area we are excited to visit again soon. Kruger National Park and the surrounding waterfall-hikes were among our highlights!
Shower would be nicer. Child friendly place with facilities like table tennis etc. Extra lamp in the braai area.
I think that it must be a big inconvenience to Jacque to have to stay up or get up early to open and close the front gate. Signal a problem.
Although basic venue was excellent value for money with discount. Set in neat, lovely garden and perfect location in the area to access various destinations.
The chalet is clean and tidy, but the double bed's mattress is very worn. My husband and I both have back pain after the weekend. It also rained all the time, and there is nowhere in the chalet a comfortable place to sit. Your choice is either the bed with the uncomfortable mattress or a hard wooden chair at a tiny table. The bunk bed's ladder is also broken, which makes it difficult for the child sleeping upstairs. The gardens are beautiful and the surroundings breathtaking. The pool is sparkling clean, although we didn't swim. With a little more maintenance it would really be a fantastic spot for a quick getaway!
Very good value for money. Unit was neat and clean. No shower in unit is something to note when booking. Bananien is very central. Owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would recommend Bananien anytime.
The stay was nice, the only issue we had was the parking, there was nothing close to the unit.
Bath water was cold after first bath. Shower didn't work. No WiFi and limited mobile and data reception. Kettle did not work.
We stayed in Sabie for 3 days, with our family and parents, therefore we were 6 guests. The unit offers 2 bathrooms, the lower bathroom has no hot water and with our departure we mentioned it to the manager who is completely aware of it. Also, only 4 of the 8 beds were provided with electric blankets, although the price we paid was 8 people. There were no towels provided, tin opener and toaster are not in working order. We picked up problems with our car and the manager couldn't give any advice on where we could take the car. We paid R1 800 a night and the accommodation was substandard, not worth the money at all, and would not recommend it to families with more than 4 guests.
The log cabin needs maintenance and the double bed needs replacing. The bathroom sometimes had a smell!
Clean, friendly, helpful.
My three siblings and I stayed there for 3 days. The place was lovely, it has majestic views. We interacted a lot with Jacques, he was very friendly. I will definitely be staying there again. The cabins are quite lovely but really have the minimum basics as told on their website. Do bring all your small essentials e.g. coffee and snacks. The place is also quite close to everything, it is perfectly located. Yes, network and WiFi connections dampen it a bit but it is worth it staying there.
See stars.
Very quaint houses, fully equipped. Would love to stay there again.
It was really worth it to get away for a weekend at Bananien Lodge.
A very neat, peaceful and safe environment, will definitely recommend it to other guests.
It was comfortable, clean and tidy. We had a nice time. It's safe and our children could play well. We'll see you again soon.
Facilities are everything one needs at a very affordable price. Will definitely use this again. Keep it up!
Perfectly located, hospitality from management. Picturesque view. It was truly wonderful to be there and will definitely go again.
I would recommend Bananien Lodge anytime. The place is very neat and clean. The environment is beautiful! You can relax wonderfully, it is so peaceful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.
It's the place to stay if you want to explore Eastern Transvaal, half way from als (Nelspruit, Hazyview and Grakop), we had such a good stay, didn't want to go home, so we booked one more night. Banana, you guys rock and thank you for your hospitality.
Nice and neat place. Nice environment.
We enjoyed the stay and found the facilities to be exactly what we expected. The owner was always available and we have no complaints. Clean and tidy. Best location.
Reception was friendly and prompt. Lodge was quiet and we could really enjoy our visit. I will definitely go back again and refer our family there as well.
Very friendly people, will definitely visit there again.
View to die for. Cosy, beautiful and clean. Needed nothing.
It was very nice, thank you very much for everything.
Super location, perfect position for shopping, restaurants and Panorama Route, waterfalls, etc.
Hospitality, friendly, well maintained and beautiful garden.
We stopped for two nights on the way to Kruger and on the way back, group of 5 with two kids. Accommodation is not luxurious but it has everything you need, kitchen plates, pots, cutlery etc. Accommodation in the wooden cabin was on the basic side but spacious and comfortable. Nice garden with braai stands. Owners friendly. Two main drawbacks: no mobile phone reception (I know it's not the owner's fault but it's a problem) and the pool was not maintained, water was murky and with frogs in it (if you travel with kids this is important). Overall good value for money, got what I expected and would go back, but a little more attention to detail would go a long way (bin liners, wood for braai, towels etc).
Tranquility, calmness, hospitable, feeling very much at home.
We had a warm reception and enjoyed a comfortable overnight stay. Simple and affordable accommodation.
The units are nicely equipped, and conveniently located. Everything was very clean and the owners were friendly. We will stay at Bananien Lodge again in the future.
See stars.
Beautiful lodge in an aspiring surrounding. Quiet and serene with awesome views. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the 2-plate cooker. It kept going off as soon as the plate got hot then switched off so we had breakfast at lunch time and it was extremely frustrating.
Shaun was helpful in all aspects we required even telling you where the cops and speed cameras are. Cabin 3 beautiful, all things in working conditions. Just needs a bit of touch on the sealing from elements. Definitely would revisit Bananien.
Neat cabins with all the essentials, the lodge's grounds are tidy and beautiful nature and garden. Friendly service received. We had a great stay, only problems were cabin no 4 had an ant problem, the ants got into als and the fridges in both no 4 and 5 didn't get very cold.
Neat and tranquil place. Only problem was very poor Vodacom coverage and no Wi-Fi at the Lodge.
Very neat accommodation and friendly people.
It was really nice, neat and clean. You have nice privacy and the nature is beautiful there. Was happy about no noise and no loud music etc. that you get at other places. Only pity was about no cell phone signal so the outside world struggles to get hold of you. But would definitely stay there again!
We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay.
It was an experience to sleep in the wooden cabin and enjoyed it quite a bit. Beautiful gardens and friendly welcome from Jacques.
Beautiful environment but there is no MTN, Vodacom or WiFi reception. The wooden cottages are very basic and small. Maggie welcomed us kindly.
The residential unit no. 3 in which we stayed needed urgent renovation and this was also reported to the staff on duty, as the owners were not at home. The following have a.o. urgent attention needed: Bathroom - bathtub tap broken, toilet seat broken, single layer very weak and thin toilet paper! No soap in container. Kitchen: no mop or scoop, no washing-up soap or dishcloth, sponge (upon request we were provided with a torn, stained dishcloth and soap that did not lather). Frying pan is done, dirty and warped. Two plate stove was slow and a struggle to bake bacon and eggs. Sleeping area: Double bed mattress and bedding are done. Mats in front of the bed were dirty. On Sunday no cleaning services were provided and upon inquiry the excuse was that they forgot to inform us about it. Not a pleasant stay and not a place we would recommend to anyone. Certainly not up to standard compared to similar accommodation and price range in that area.
Accommodation had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and we had a nice stay.
Very peaceful and nice to get away from everyday life and just enjoy nature.
It had been wonderfully quiet. It is beautifully located and would go there again.
Service was excellent. Assistant went out of her way and even recommended restaurants.
Very friendly establishment. Peaceful and beautiful.
The cottage was clean with hot water, garden is beautiful. The place needs major maintenance. Steps to and from the railing on porch wood may need replacing. Some of the wood in the floor and bathroom has already moved away and a cold air is coming through. In the summer it will be no problem. No wine glasses. Power plug behind refrigerator needs repair or replacement. Inconvenient with only 1 plug for kettle, microwave and stove.
We had a very nice stay. Downstairs bathroom just didn't have hot water and the boiler didn't work. Will stay there again.
The location is great and beautiful. But the units are in mint condition, there is no maintenance. No, not again thanks.
The owner is friendly but the chalet was bad, the wind came through while sleeping. We booked a rondavel but was given a chalet upon arrival.
We enjoyed it very much. Nice view and they made an effort to make it comfortable for us. Thank you very much.
A warm friendly greeting met us and throughout our stay we felt our needs were their primary focus, from the cleaning of the pool to their concern regarding our safety when we had to evacuate due to a fire threatening our safety. We were treated like family, rather than guests.
Super! Alles was netjies en skoon. Sal weer daar gaan bly.
Wow, this is great value for money! I highly recommend Bananien Lodge to both locals and foreigners.
See the stars.
We spent little time at the lodge, basically just slept there. Everything was clean and tidy and perfectly met everything we needed. Only problem was the 2 plate stove. We wanted to make breakfast quickly but the stove is very slow. Later chalked it up to a bad experience and went to have breakfast. Other than that, NOTHING to complain about.
The only problem was that there is no network for cellphones, WiFi and TV, except at my place. The location is great. Our group was quite happy.
Banana is perfect for a weekend break from the hustle and bustle of work. The fact that there was no TV wasn't even missed and the kids were more preoccupied with being outside, which is good. It is also centrally located for "sight seeing" and Sabie is just a stone's throw away. Will definitely consider it a next time.
Bananien is located near Sabie which makes it easy to drive back and forth. No TV (positive), and plenty of play space for the children on the giant lawns. The houses are small, but spacious enough to have a great time. The bathroom is partitioned off, but the roof is open, which can lead to uncomfortable situations. It is located near the road, but there is little traffic and almost no heavy vehicles that make a lot of noise. It's also comfortable to be able to watch the children around the pool from the cottage's deck. It's good value for money (especially with the discount) and we will come again and bring friends.
They need to install a TV in each unit. That is all the units need, it is so cozy, we loved it.
Was lovely in nature and without TV, it allows the children to enjoy nature and not watch TV all day. This is what makes Bananien Lodge so special, it brings you back to reality. You are awesome and provide very good service.
At Bananien we quickly came back down to earth and for the first time in a long time my husband and I and our 2 little girls sat and talked and played together. It was an awesome bonding experience and not to mention nature. Jacques and Marni also came to drink coffee like old friends and it was very special.
Was very kindly received by staff and owners and very helpful with any requests. Is centrally located and close to all the main routes to attractions. Is very peaceful with all the bird sounds.
We will definitely go again. There is a lovely view, beautiful gardens and everything was clean and tidy. The management was friendly and very helpful. Bananien Lodge will definitely see us again.
Comfortable and home feeling. Have a nice time.
For the price I paid, it was very nice. I would only suggest the following: Give each accommodation unit a remote control for the gate and increase the key deposit. Improve the general safety of the chalet/rondavel. The door could almost open without a key. The microwave rack in the rondavel is not in a secure location. You bump your head when you walk in. Possibly get a TV.
Many thanks to Jacques and Marni, they went out of their way to make us feel at home. As a tour guide, Jacques is also very informative. We made very good friends. Will go there again.
The house is neat, but uncomfortably warm. Some of the lights did not work. NO entertainment for young children, not inside the cottage with a TV or outside with a climbing frame or play facilities. We will not be visiting Bananien again anytime soon or recommending it to friends with young children.
The photos are misleading. We were already disappointed when we drove into the gate. The manager also did not treat us well when we brought it to his attention that we were not happy with certain things there.

A very beautiful lodge, close to the town of Sabie.
Bananien Lodge is centrally located which makes it a good option for overnight accommodation if you want to do the Panorama route. We were kindly welcomed, the owners and staff were courteous and helpful. Unit is tidy and the necessary items are at your disposal. The road noise early in the morning bothered us a bit, but that might just be because we are not used to it. The edges of the pool have some algae but the water was clean.
A great getaway and very centrally located. Would just plant something against the fence near the main road.

The place is well located next to many main attractions in Mpumalanga. The lodge is very safe, clean and run by friendly staff.
Very cute wooden houses in a very beautiful environment.
Accommodation is beautiful and it's close to all the major tourist attractions which makes life convenient. Customer service however, was non-existent. They never once checked that their guests were okay, see if they needed anything or asked if they were enjoying themselves. Some of the other guests at the same time as we were, said their feelings were mutual on this point - they also wanted more customer service from the people who ran the lodge (A basic check-up on your guests is expected at a TGCSA 3-star rated place)
Units are very small and are more suitable for young groups. It is too close to the main road. The original farm house can get more attention to form part of the view.
The houses are hopelessly too small for 3 adults and a child. The fact that there is only one bathroom makes the facilities uncomfortable for so many people. The security at the lodge is ridiculous, my child and grandchild were robbed and it is clear where the robbers entered and exited! Staff feel their safety is up to standard.
Neat, clean and quiet. Very central for day trips to Graskop, Burkes Luck Potholes, Sudawala Caves, White River and Hazyview.
Friendly service and clean facility.
I'm definitely taking my family here next year. Absolutely amazing place!
Had an amazing stay and would go back in a heart beat. Perfect for getting away from the city life.
The place and management were very pleasant. The nightlife is busy, we would have preferred it quieter. Other than that, everything was great.
Frogs feel very peaceful and the stream of water with the beautiful plants makes you not want to go home Thank you
The place has a lot of potential and I believe the log cabins are nicely decorated. We were a bit disappointed in the place we stayed (sleeps 6-8) with a toilet that didn't work when we arrived, and mountain bike trails advertised but then not available. However, the service was very friendly. We just feel the place's potential could be used so much better. Sabie is a beautiful town and we will return again but we are unsure if we will use the same accommodation. However, we really enjoyed the surroundings. We went cycling at Merry Pebbles in the end. It was lovely there. Thank you very much.
The fact that there is no cell phone reception was a concern. The security company at the house called and couldn't get through. Problems at home were encountered. Anything could happen and there is no cell phone reception to call anyone.
Absolutely beautiful place which has wonderful managers.
A pleasure to stay, close to Sabie and a short hop to Kruger Park
Very caring and good service, one improvement may be to include a cabinet, where the most need items like dishwashing soap etc. can be kept. Otherwise, a wonderful experience.
