Everything was fine. Quiet environment in nature. Nice to ride a bike. Valarie and Joop are excellent hosts.
A good ground vehicle is needed to get to the farmhouse and campsite and all you need is your clothes, food and yourself. The rest is all there.

Beautiful place that is perfect for people who like hiking in the mountains. We were welcomed and treated with incredible hospitality. Very neat place. Highly recommended!
We chose Bankfontein because we wanted to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday outside the city. We were very friendly and received with hospitality by our hostess. She personally accompanied us to the camp and showed us everything. Later in the afternoon she came again to make sure we were all right and even brought us delicious fresh farm grapes. Everything you need is there, flush toilet, hot shower and a view to dream of. They provide a large fridge and freezer where you can keep your food and drinks cold. We were even able to play a little pool as there is a lovely table. It is a large camp that can easily accommodate a group of up to 20 people, but we were alone there. Although WiFi was available at the farmstead, we did not make use of it, as the mobile phone signal was sufficient at a particular location on the farm.
Absolute natural paradise, silence, peace and quiet. Will definitely visit this hidden gem again. Many thanks to Joop and Valerie. Your kindness is truly appreciated.

Visit Bankfontein for a peaceful getaway! The farm borders the Vanderkloof Dam. 1 km walk from the camp area, it feels like private beach access. All you need to bring is your food and clothes! Kitchen amenities, fridge, freezer, gas and power are provided. Very neat and safe. Pet friendly. You will see us again.
Excellent accommodation. Very helpful and friendly hostess, Valerie and the uncle. Very relaxing and quiet with all the basic needs covered. Will stay here again. Away from all the hustle and bustle! Wonderful landscape.

Ons het n kampeer plek bespreek maar Philip het ons n alleen-gelee tent-kamp aangebied aangesien die kamp vol was met n familie groep. Toe ons besef die plek is heeltemaal te warm om te bewoon (op n koppie 'facing the western sun') was Philip plaashuis toe en daar is geen sel 'signal' nie. Selfs die toilet sistern water was warm. Ons moes ons kos ens in die badkamer bere en skuilte soek in the droe rivierbed tot die son afgegaan het - die tent was kook warm en onbegaanbaar. Aangesien ek laryngitis gehad het, het ons besluit om die volgend dag te ry. Ek het n boodskap aan Philip gestuur maar tot nou toe, niks gehoor nie.
It was far beyond our expectations, we had a great time and rested, the owners are the most wonderful people. Place is breathtakingly beautiful.
We were at Plaas Bankfontein for the first time this weekend and it was fantastic! We were warmly welcomed on arrival by Valerie who took us to the campsite and explained everything nicely. It's really on a remote part of the farm and the silence was wonderful! Apart from the breathtaking nature, we were pleasantly surprised with the shower facilities, you have to stoke a donkey for hot water like in the old days! They literally have everything you need, all we had to bring was food and towels. And not talking about how neat the grounds and tents were would just be wrong! We went for a walk along the river to Vanderkloofdam! There is a route to go to the dam by vehicle as well, but we wanted to experience nature and we definitely did! The hills are also explorable and we climbed one of them and really had the most beautiful view. It's impossible to describe the whole weekend here, but if you have a 2x4 or 4x4 and just want to break away to camp, Plaas Bankfontein is definitely the place to be! I would recommend them to any camping enthusiast anytime! Thanks again Valerie! See you again soon!
I would definitely recommend Bankfontein, for friends, couples and even groups. The tents are nice and tidy inside with beds and lights in the tents. There are freezers, fridges, and a nice braai area. The bathrooms are neat and clean and it is very refreshing to be able to view the scenery from your shower. It is very private and safe and the owners are very friendly and helpful. You really don't need anything to take with you, except drink and food and nice walking shoes if you want to walk to the dam. The communal kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. However, one needs a high insurance vehicle to get to the camp, but one can also make alternative arrangements with the owners to get to the camp itself from the farm. We will return again anytime.
