A very relaxed stay, Gudi and John are the perfect hosts. We will be back. Not on the lagoon but within walking distance, and who doesn't want to walk the island?
We booked Belatage specifically to have accommodation in an upmarket part of Knysna, and paid for it in full (not just a deposit, as we were called "one"nighters"!) some 4 months ago. On arrival we were assured that all lights, TV and plugs would be available during loadshedding, but after 1 hour of this luxury there was no lights, no TV, no WiFi, etc. The towels in both bathrooms are old and hard and can be used for sandpaper. The bathroom in the ground floor apartment smelt of sewage. No soap or shampoo in showers, and if there is no power there is no hot water, almost immediately. It was obvious to us that the price we paid was based on location, nothing else. This accommodation seriously needs an upgrade.
This was our second visit to Beletage. Leisure Island is beautiful and very peaceful. Beletage is very neat and the owner is extremely hospitable.
All facilities in room - compact kitchen in a fold-out cupbourd. Layout for a traveller. Friendly reception.
We arrived very tired in need of a break from work and recovery from illness. We had a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed. The bicycles make it possible to explore the island in a relaxed way. We also went swimming on an incoming tide, towels were provided. We very much enjoyed our stay!
Our stay at Beletage was exactly what we had in mind. Comfortably furnished and a nice starting point for day trips.
Comfortably furnished with all quality fittings (everything works!), very peaceful surroundings, very good service from a friendly and helpful hostess, nice to be able to check out at 12h00, will definitely stay there again.
