The advertisement doesn't do Belfield justice. We stayed in the Stables cottage. Elgin has so much to offer, but it was difficult for us to go and visit the places. We just wanted to sit on the patio and listen to the birds chirping and couldn't get enough of the big garden that lies right in front of you. The cottage is very neat and met our expectations. Couldn't round out our stay in a better way than with a braai at dusk on the patio. Mel is a wonderful hostess with a warm and friendly personality and she immediately made us feel at home.
Hostess: excellent. Peace and tranquility everywhere. Everything is blooming and the vines are budding. The view is beautiful and the surroundings lovely. Wonderful places to visit around. There is certainly much more to discover.

We had booked the stables cottage, very clean, comfortable, everything there you need, including free WiFi. The settings are very pleasant, vineyards around, and a fynbos garden a short stroll away. The hostess was present and checking that all is OK. A slight drawback is the vicinity to the N2, the lorry traffic can be heard all night.
On the farm the kids rode their bikes and we had the fire going inside the whole weekend. Fully equiped property too.
This was a wonderful experience, from initial contact with Mel to the goodbyes at departure. Mel is a wonderful host and we felt at home from the moment we entered the farm. It is perfectly situated from where one can explore the beautiful surroundings. The facilities are perfect and the surrounding vineyards and gardens add to the peace and tranquillity of the stay. We enjoyed and looked forward to the daily visits from the very polite and friendly dogs. We often rush through this area on our way to more well known destinations, but with its close proximity to Cape Town, this will be a place that we would like to frequent more often.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and immediately felt welcome, sensing a great weekend was awaiting us. Our Acorn cottage was clean, tidy and very neat, well decorated and had everything we needed. Sitting on the stoep, listening to the birds, feeling the soft breeze rejuvenated our minds and our souls. Amazing place, cannot wait for our next holiday there. Highly recommended.

What a nice surprise the beautiful wine farm was! The most peaceful big trees and beautiful gardens with a very nice view of the mountains. The converted horse stables in a cottage were very beautiful and luxuriously furnished. Everything one needs for a perfect overnight stay. We will come again for sure.

The opportunity to escape for the weekend just the two of us, together for the first time this year was simply too good to resist! We had rain, we had sun. We stayed in The Stables - the perfect little cottage for a romantic weekend away for two. The fireplace in the bedroom was an absolute indulgence! The cottage has everything you could possibly need and is beautifully decorated with little touches that really set Belfield apart from other similar establishments. In terms of views, The Stables is definitely first choice among the different cottages. We lay in bed overlooking the autumn colours of the vineyard with the misty mountains in the background. Mel herself (an inspiring woman if there ever was one!) also made the weekend extra enjoyable for us with her warm welcome - we thoroughly enjoyed speaking to her about her flourishing indigenous garden, the history of Belfield, life on the farm and all the things there are to do in the valley. And then of course there's Belfield's wonderful wines. We especially loved the Merlot! Thanks for making the weekend so special for us with all your little extra touches, Mel. We'll definitely be back, next time in the spring to see the blossoms!

Oak cottage is situated across from the vines and is the most beautiful sight and the first thing you see upon waking up. From the big trees to the squirrels and even the farm dogs to greet you. It is close to the house in terms of driving, but far from the house, in terms of nature and location. The Elgin wine region is well worth a visit.
I went to live in Acorn Cottage. It is very conveniently located in a beautiful setting, relatively close to the N2, but far enough that you don't know about the N2 passing nearby and you don't hear it at all. The unit is very neat and very clean and offers everything one needs for a stay that varies from just a night's sleepover to staying there for a few days and exploring the area. There is no TV, which was fantastic because there is so much of nature to experience and take in that a TV would just intrude on it. The unit has a very nice veranda with couches and a bench with a table and you can barbecue very nice meat there and enjoy the atmosphere under the big old oak tree. I would go out of my way to stay here again. The owners are very friendly and very helpful.

We stayed in Acorn Cottage which is tastefully and stylishly furnished. Wonderful silence in the evening under the big acorn trees and morning meditation was special. The host and wife let you come and go on your own, which we prefer.
Love the farm atmosphere and farmhouse style of Apple Rose cottage. Nice and spacious. Mel's welcome was nice and Daisy the dog made us feel even more at home. The nice big shower was special.

Amazingly beautiful. Acorn trees form a leafy canopy under which our family had the most lovely picnic. Farmyard is safe and neat. Cottages are interesting with everything you need. You really are on a farm. Had a nice walk between the vineyards. Close to Peregrine Farmstall as well as the Elgin Dam where my sons took part in the Xterra.
The host and hostess, Mel and Mike, look like proud owners of the wine farm and guest accommodation. It shows in the detail and well maintained condition of the farm and guest units. We immediately felt welcome and at home. The units and living areas are spacious and private with interesting décor, quality linen and furniture. The units are fully equipped with a variety of household items. The tasty homemade rusks were a pleasant surprise and we had so much fun during the wine tasting. We will definitely return to this peaceful accommodation in Belfield, with the gorgeous view over the vineyards, trees and mountains.
