Accommodation is very neat, clean and spacious. Everything was of high quality. Excellent and friendly service. We would love to come and stay here again - there is nothing you lack. Would definitely recommend the stay.
Perfect place to switch off biki and just be! Best host and hostess, always friendly and welcoming. Even my woof enjoyed the nice big garden. Will definitely stay there again in the future, this time with a group of friends. A jewel in the small Karoo ️.

Was a pleasant and quiet place, very old farm style. Could do with a bit more facilities, with regards to the self catering and the kitchen equipment. Management and staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
The towels and beds were lovely, but the interior of the rooms not as clean as expected from a place that is rented out. This may be due to the reed ceilings? The communal kitchen is outside next to the communal braai area with the crockery.
Recommendation: Provide rechargeable light during power failure.

I have to compliment the photographer, or rather the person who edited the photos. It looks like a cool setup on the website, but it's not a true representation. Apart from the fact that the place is old and needs maintenance, the water pressure was weak under the shower, the kettle has to stand on the floor to boil water, it's 20 Km from Calitzdorp and not 13 Km as told, etc. The room was confirmed as one with a double bed when I booked but was then twin beds in separate rooms, how exciting. But surely one cannot expect everyone to offer a good experience for R800 a night. We travel often and there is good affordable accommodation available everywhere, unfortunately this was not one of them.
Stay there again? Definitely no. Beds are extremely uncomfortable. To crown it all there was flees that bit me all over my legs. Rooms poorly prepared, extremely dusty and spider webs even around bathtub taps. In a room for 3, there were only towels for 2 people and we had to ask for toilet paper.
The host was not available to meet us. Four large dogs jumped at our car and after a struggle we got hold of someone. We did not feel safe or comfortable sleeping there.
Loved everything! We'll definitely visit again.
Well-established property in the Karoo, ideal for people traveling within the Karoo that need an affordable, clean, and friendly place to stay. The food is good, the staff is very friendly. The only downside was the Wi-Fi. The signal was very poor because there's still no fiber in the area, which perhaps makes it ideal for people who want to disconnect completely for a few days!

We booked four rooms and everyone had a really good time and slept, even if it was just the one night. The service and the breakfast were excellent. The proverbial "extra mile" walked by Denise is exceptional. I would stay here again anytime.

Very calm and management very helpful.
We had a bad experience. Visitors should be aware that the rooms are all located next to each other in an old, larger homestead and there is no effective ceiling. In other words you hear every movement and noise from the rooms next door. Next to us, a family with small children moved in at 21:00 in the evening and made noise until 23:30. Sleep was definitely not an option. In addition, we had no water in the morning when we wanted to shower. No what. The amenities are all crammed together in a small room. Nothing is really in its place.
The hostess went out of her way to make us feel at home and even made us barbecues. We will definitely come and stay again.
We stayed over at Bella de Karoo on New Year's eve en route to the Eastern Cape via Route 62. The tranquil accommodation on a Karoo guest farm was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hosts arranged a BBQ under clear, balmy, starry African skies! A special experience!
Bella de Karoo is located about 15 minutes out of Calitzdorp (on the way to Oudtshoorn) and is very remote. As a result, it's very peaceful but you need to be aware that you will have to drive to one of the towns for dinner. Our hosts were fabulous and were generous enough to loan us their car to go back to Calitzdorp for dinner (we were on motorbikes and it was raining). The facilities are adequate, bedding good and bathrooms clean. Perhaps a little too much furniture in the room which results in a perceived lack of space and a dark environment.
Bathroom of room 1 needs serious attention. Shower overflows bathroom floor. Very uncomfortable!
We paid for room 4, which can accommodate 5 people, but when we arrived there was some problem and they said they only received the information from the website yesterday morning that we are 2 adults and 2 children. They wanted to give us a room that was being worked on and it didn't smell good. We ended up staying in room 5 which can only accommodate 3 people and then just asked for an extra single bed mattress on the floor for our teenage daughter to sleep on. I was unhappy because I had already booked the accommodation in advance and specifically Room 4 and we did not get what we paid for.
Emile and Letitia are very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Very neat and great food. Can recommend Bella de Karoo. Very pet- and child-friendly.

We only slept here for one night. Cute and authentic farm - a pity was that there was great tennis on that night and there were no TVs in the rooms. It was in the middle of winter and the bathroom with the cement floors was extremely cold. There was no heater in the room, but the kind young man who received us took care of it. The pies and dessert we ordered were delicious and the table very nicely set. The company of the cats at breakfast was a highlight for me personally. They love breakfast bacon!
The room was very cosy and well furnished. However, the restaurant was not what it was made out to be.
Main house is an old Karoo farmhouse and was amazing. The rooms wouldn't work because they were promised to have a fridge and microwave in them, then there weren't. The transfer to main house was good. Breakfast at paddock and grilled cakes were delicious.

Received extremely hospitably. Accommodation in a very characterful room (rather a one-man apartment with everything you may need for self-catering accommodation) and unique bathroom. Long, lovely porch with tables, chairs and couches and around every corner something artistic, surprising and in character with the old, but fresh historical buildings and setting. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Pure pleasure.
We traveled around the Klein Karoo for 10 days together with our two big dogs, a Rifrug and a Labrador. We stayed at Bella de Karoo for 10 days. The owners went out of their way to make us all feel at home. Our last few days were spent up in the mountain hut (Bush Lodge). Even though there is no electricity or hot water, we regretted not spending the whole 10 days there. It's incredibly beautiful, completely private and gives you a view of the entire Klein Karoo. One feels one with nature. It was also perfect for the dogs and we could go for a nice walk with them. Thank you for the wonderful experience, Bella de Karoo!

We all enjoyed the peaceful setting of the Karoo. The room was very nicely decorated and very clean. The food we all enjoyed and where we sat for breakfast was delightful as we were entertained by the peacocks, chickens and duck who came along. We will definitely return for a second visit.
I am disappointed with the setup. The place to stay and the place to eat are about 500 meters from each other. No carports available. No air conditioning. The furniture in the room in the old farmstead where we stayed is old and tired and the setup with the microwave oven standing on a chair looks bad. The room our children stayed in in the building on the ad is neat.

The room was clean and tidy and had beautiful antique furniture in it. Braai facilities were more than adequate, even braai packs were offered. I would recommend Bella de Karoo to anyone anytime as a stopover or even to relax for a weekend. Also remember to visit Smitswinkel.
Their dishes are top notch. Hospitality and that nice I-feel-at-home feeling! And then the Father gave more hard rain on the tin roof in the arid Karoo (the guest house has no gutters, because here they are redundant).
We only stayed one night at Bella de Karoo. On arrival we were kindly received and explained how everything works. The stay in the farmhouse was very nice, especially for our city-dwelling children. Breakfast the next morning at Smitswinkel was also top notch.
This is good 2 star accommodation. The service was friendly and the beds clean and comfortable. The bathrooms can be made more inviting by upgrading the floor and shower a bit. Good food from the paddock! A beautiful setting with a beautiful sunset.
Bella de Karoo is well located on a beautiful farm with excellent facilities, and very good and friendly service!
All communication with Frances and her staff was prompt and friendly. Warm welcome; facilities spotless, tidy and everything one needs. Meals from and at Smitswinkel delicious and at a reasonable cost. Nice dry white wine from the area available. For bird watchers quite a few species to aim the binoculars at!

A bit far from both Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp, but great bird life in the trees (holy ibis colony). Very nice people. Braai area was a bit poor, but then again it is a B&B. No problems experienced that required assistance during our self-catering stay.
