The little room we were given to sleep in was a mess. It's tiny, but it's not the worst problem. It does not look at all like the photos shown. It was a struggle to get into the place. I called and got no answer and then the hostess came out. The people apologized that the rest of the house was a mess because they were doing repairs. The house is dirty and creepy. We (me and my 86-year-old mother) had to stay in a room where not much work. She tried to take a shower that night, but the water was cold. The faucet at the 1 small, squeaky sink is loose. The kettle's lid is broken. The one water glass was dirty. The shower is just like that in the room. There is a small television that doesn't actually work either. He also seems to only have SABC1, 2 and 3 on. The beds were cleanly covered, but the whole room looks smooth and completely unlike the photos. I actually didn't want to go in there, but I didn't want to drive any further, 2 women alone. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures of our room. So yesterday morning I just got dressed and drove. I didn't want to drink coffee or do anything else there. 1 positive thing that did happen is that I was able to store my cold things in their freezer for the night. So, at least it had been good. And another positive point is that our car was inside a lock-up garage. I would just suggest that if you are offering your home as a guest house and you are doing restorations, stay off the market for that time. I also expect the host to at least look tidy when I arrive.

I moved to Natal from the Cape. Looking for a place to spend the night with my dog. If you have a dog it is certainly ok, but it is an old house and the whole place smells of smoke. My dog could sleep inside and I could pull my bakkie and pram in the garage which was great.

For 1 day and 1 night there wasn't any water, but the hostess did everything in her power not to allow this to cause any discomfort to us. She was even willing to refund us due to the water shortage, what a wonderful gesture from her.

We booked for 2 nights in the Pearl Room with a double bed and a en-suite bathroom. Upon arrival there were guests in our room and we were taken to the apartment. 3 bedrooms, but no double bed. 2 bathrooms, but far away from the bedroom. The room's door couldn't lock from the outside and there was no door or gate between the apartment, the other guest rooms, the garage and front door. There is a lock-up garage on the street, but the garage door couldn't lock from the outside. All the cars, therefore, were unsafe. Anyone could come from the street and access the building.

"Not quite what I expected after reading previous reviews."

The garage must be opened and closed manually. I felt very exposed and unsafe when I arrived at the guest house late at night as a single woman. The room is very spacious and tidy with all accessories as mentioned on the website with two exceptions: The room I stayed in was advertised "from R300 pp". I was alone, didn't take breakfast, but I paid R400. There is also no fan and since the room opens onto a covered patio, there was no ventilation and I got very hot and stuffy. When I wanted to bathe the next morning, there was no hot water in the geyser and I had to boil kettles of water to finally be able to bathe in lukewarm water. The hostess was very upset when she heard this and wanted to move me to another unit. Apparently the batteries of the gas geyser were dead. Unfortunately, something like this spoils one's entire experience.

Given wrong key to store car in garage that evening. Not answering phone to solve problem. Had no power. No emergency lights. No doors were locked, unsafe feeling.

Lovely clean accommodation with hosts who go out of their way to help, my dogs were treated ike guests and the whole ambience there is wonderful.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay and will definitely use Belmar Guest House again in the future. People are very friendly and have the cutest puppies. And we are provided with secure parking too!

I was received with a smile and my requests were handled without any trouble. It is the most convenient place away from home. Never felt like we were in danger.

The guesthouse is just a few km off the N1 and easily accessible. There is also a shopping centre just around the corner with eateries, and we were just 5 km from the Casino which also had restaurants. Privacy could be a problem, but as a stopover it was just fine.

The guesthouse is easy to find, the gardens are beautiful and there are loads of little places to sit and relax and enjoy the fresh air in privacy. The rooms are wonderfully pretty and neat. Parking is in a lockable garage. I enjoyed my time there.

The accommodation was comfortable, but certain aspects such as cleanliness and hot water in the hand basin need attention. We arrived fairly late on 11 June (after 16:00) and I must say that the reception was disappointing. The microwave was dirty on the outside and the coffee table still had rings on from previous coffee mugs. Noticed the microwave on the 11th and when we returned on the 18th it still had not been cleaned. The hand towel was also not replaced with a clean one on our return journey.
