The owners' swimming pool is available to guests on hot summer days.

My stay was fantastic and we had a great time.
We had another lovely stay at Drakensberg Bush Lodge and Backpackers. This was our second stay here and we are once again refreshed and recharged! We always enjoy the tranquility, silence, beautiful surroundings and variety of birds. The cottage is neat and comfortable. Thank you, Emile and team!
Really enjoyed the stay and tranquility. Everyone received us very kindly. I would definitely use them again and also recommend them as a place to stay.
We really appreciated the kindness and helpfulness. We felt completely safe and really enjoyed the beautiful view and atmosphere between the mountains. The location so close to Winterton is ideal for necessary shopping, as well as the beautiful places we could visit within striking distance. Thank you very much again.

Beautiful location and well appointed. I would suggest that a shower replaces the cast iron bath in the separate bathroom. Warming blankets are needed on the beds. A bundle of wood upon arrival to light a fire.

It was a wonderful stay antique style the have you need from dishes and spoons we didn't struggle the only challenge was the iron but we did ask them to borrow us even though they first told us the iron for the lodge is broken. The only challenge when going there is you must have everything you need to use food as the place it's far from shops and no restaurants around. Nevertheless, the place is a cool place, though it's antique, it needs a bit of TLC. I don't think they cleaned the place before our arrival. It seems like it was cleaned long ago after the previous visitors.
We will be back but this time we will remember to bring some food! After a long day riding, it's always nice to know you can look forward to a hot shower and a comfy bed.
The kitchen and living areas are outdoors and not sheltered from the wind. Their place is ok but there is no view, you just look onto a mielie field on the one side and a grove of mostly alien invasive trees on the other.

Very friendly welcome, everything clean and tidy. The shared kitchen has everything you need and is very comfortable and cosy. Was so nice to go early to watch the hot air balloons take off. Would recommend the beautiful place to anyone.
Absolutely peaceful and tranquil.
Environment very beautiful, quiet and private. Accommodation was comfortable, clean. The host and wife very pleasant, friendly and very accommodating. Will go back again anytime.
However, I could not do any work due to poor to no internet. Now not fixing their debt. However, I thought at the premium I pay it would at least include air cooling. Nice area, peaceful and quiet. No Vodacom reception, and WiFi was very slow.
Would recommend the place also for family groups. Plenty of space for children to express themselves!
We girls got a bladder infection from the pool. Single bed was average, double bed was dipped on one side had to sleep on the inside. I suggested if No. 1 was always used to swap out one of the not-so-used beds, he said only get changed end of the year. The towels were rough and scratchy. It looked very nice and the kitchen was great. We did have a laugh, but we needed to get better accommodation, the price was ok for a backpacker. It was an experience. The sheets and towel were nothing like the photos. Ours were old.

Very convient for balloning, as well as other activities and sightseeing.
Very pleasant stay with good service and many extras. Can even use the accommodation even if you are not there for a holiday but for contactor work because the location is so central to the area.
Enjoyed the time very much. Drakensberg Bush Lodge and Backpackers was a neat quiet place that I would love to visit again.
