The cottages at Berghaven Cottages are well-appointed and the grounds are beautiful and child-friendly.
Unit well equipped, neat and clean, staff friendly and helpful. WiFi just very weak, don't bargain on it.
What you don't take with you, you won't get there. Plenty of birds. Beautiful view and beautiful photos. Picked up enough pine cones for a delicious fireplace!
Really loved our stay at Berghaven. Booking was a pleasure, quick and clear communication from the hosts. Berhaven has a fantastic location with easy access to lots of hikes, road and mountain bike routes, walking, and a lovely bakery and awesome brewery are around the corner. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with everything you need, including thoughtful efforts to reduce the impact of load shedding such as emergency lights, gas cookers, etc. Berghaven is not to be missed, especially in autumn when the trees are turning, and everywhere you look looks like a postcard. They also have two wonderful dogs that like to pay all the guests a visit from time to time. Just two notes – unfortunately use of drones (even limited responsible and considerate use) is outright prohibited by the owner. This is a pity as Berghaven is an aerial photographer/videographers delight. Secondly, daily servicing (cleaning) of the units is not included in the price – it’s an extra (affordable) option. Not that it matters (quite happy to clean up after ourselves), but I only became aware of this after booking, so worth noting if this would bother you. Otherwise, can highly recommend Berghaven for a multi-day stay and will definitely be back as soon as possible.
Location was very central, and hosts were very helpful.
We really had a wonderful stay. One issue is the grass around the dam. My husband battled to fish as it was a little overgrown.
We had a great stay, were close to all the activities we wanted to do on the weekend. We barbecued and went fishing every night. Will definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet. If we needed help with something, the staff were very responsive, helpful, and friendly.
Good accommodation in a lovely setting in a natural environment.
It is a very nice, neat place. The view was beautiful and the silence was just what we needed. The location is good, although it felt more or less like 15 - 20 min far. It was convenient to drive around from. There is a lot to do in the area, but if you just want to sit and relax with a beautiful view, this is the place.

Incredible location and the most beautiful view and the farm feel. It was almost like being on the farm, it was so nice and quiet, we were the only people in the lodge from Sunday and we walked a lot and sat outside. Each time we watched the sunset and took pictures, the lady with their ducks and sounds were beautiful.
It was our 2nd time at Berghaven Cottages and we really enjoyed it. The unit was clean and tidy, and the log fire was definitely a big draw in the cold weather. The mountains' atmosphere makes it easy to shut down and relax. We had a great time playing with the dogs, rowing on the little pond, and just enjoying the view over the mountains.
Quite, clean, spacious and well maintained facilities in the heart of the Drakensberg. Close to popular hikes and sight seeing. Really attentive and caring hosts. We loved it and will definitely be back!

There is no parking to walk from your car to the unit without walking through mud (and it rains a lot there). There is no roof over the outdoor barbecue area's seating. The room is very small and it makes you feel caged. There is no place to hang clothes just a few open shelves to put the clothes on. The dining room table and chairs are cheap plastic table and chairs that are normally used outside. I got the feeling that the owner wanted to get maximum income from minimum accommodation space and facilities. We therefore spent most of the time in our camping chairs in the garden which was lovely. My suggestion, for what it's worth, would be that they convert the building that houses the three 'flatlets' into two units instead.
2 plate stove/oven in terrible condition. No veranda, rain comes into units so nowhere to sit other than cooped up inside. Crockery chipped and cracked. Will not go back.
Berghaven is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The cottages (self-catering) are of a good quality and have a beautiful view of the dams. The whole place was very tidy with grass that was cut and the pool that was nice and clean. We would go back again anytime.

We had a very nice time at Berghaven Cottages. Me, my wife and 2.5 year old daughter enjoyed the beauty and tranquility and needed to end the year to start the new year. Our unit was well equipped and had everything we needed. My little girl enjoyed the trampolines and play area, my wife the bright blue pool and I the catch and release fishing. The nearby restaurants and sports resort are a big bonus. We really couldn't express how much we enjoyed Berghaven Cottages. We are already fixing our dates for the coming year to go back. Then also a special thank you to Kat who received us and went out of her way to take our little girl to feed the animals and make sure we didn't lack anything. We would definitely recommend Berghaven Cottages to anyone looking for value for money in the Champagne Valley.
Near to many hiking routes and horse trails. Hostess was lovely and helpful. No WiFi though, but a weekend we'll spent getting away from city life.
Needed an overnight stay.
The only thing I missed, I saw only birds and no animals as I had expected.
I can definitely recommend the destination. Picturesque area with lots to do. I will definitely go again and the destination is child-friendly with a large play park and lawns with a nice big swimming pool.
After accidentally booking at another Berghaven in Underberg, we were so excited to get to the real Berghaven. The owners are really helpful and friendly. The location is perfect. It's the most beautiful part of the mountains. I can't wait to bring my whole family so they and their children can experience it too. The pool was also a bonus. Just make sure, there are two places with the same name. One in Underberg and then this one, a family resort that has been around for over 30 years.

The cottages are well-equipped and very clean. The view is beautiful and there is no noise. We stayed in number 5 and the only problem was that the smoke didn't leave the fireplace properly so we couldn't use the fireplace, but it didn't ruin the accommodation. It is truly a beautiful area and Berghaven Cottages are ideally situated for exploring the whole area. The owners were extremely friendly. On the day of our departure there were marches and strikes on the N3 and they offered us free accommodation for that night because they were worried we would be in danger if we were going via the N3. Although we did not accept the offer, such compassion is indeed very strange. We will definitely go back.

We were kindly received and thoroughly informed regarding power outages that may occur. The unit creates a well-kept impression with enough equipment for 2 people. The furniture and especially the mattress and bedding are very comfortable and the gardens well maintained considering that it is a farm. The place is well located. Easy to find as well as visit all the nearby interesting places in the area.
Berghaven cottages are wonderfully centrally located. The view from our cottage with the mountains, small pond and the different shades of the autumn trees made it picture perfect.

We were warmly received. The place met our expectations in every way. Although there were other people around all the time, we were never in each other's way. I would go back there anytime. The owner's friendly dog that came to take us for a walk, or just sat with us, put the icing on the cake!

The natural scenes were breathtakingly beautiful. We had a view of the farm pond with many ducks and birds, and the beautiful Drakensberg in the background. The birds came up to our porch and practically ate out of our hands. We also went for a few walks in the beautiful forest on the farm. The service was extremely great! They welcomed us with open arms and were eager to accommodate us on short notice with changes in our arrival date. When there was a misunderstanding about the price they gave us the "benefit of the doubt" and insisted that we pay the amount as we understood it. I would recommend Berghaven Cottages to anyone!

The accommodation is clean and neat. Everything is available for a self-catering holiday. The facilities keep the kids busy is is close enough to all attractions in the area, so you won't have to spend your holiday in a car.

Had a great stay with our family of 4. Kid-friendly place with so many things to see and do in the area (walks, outdoor activities such as rafting and canopying, Falcon Ridge and the must see reptile centre). We visited in winter so enjoyed the fireplace in the evening when it was chilly. As soon as the sun was up we were outdoors checking out the fantastic scenery. Looking forward to come back to Berghaven cottages.

Het die werklik geniet. As ek voorstel kan maak. Daar word nie werklik vir kindertjies 3 jaar en jonger wat nie kan stort nie voorsien nie. Bygesê die water bly ook nie lank genoeg warm sodat ten minste twee mense na mekaar kan stort nie en dan is dit nie eers vir 10 min nie. Die res is ons werklik baie tevrede en sal weer daarheen gaan as dit net ek en my man is.
Although the mountains were not quite visible, we really enjoyed our stay at Berghaven Cottages. The cottage has a view over a lake and we spent quite a bit of time watching the birds. Environment is great for a walk. Beautiful and quiet.

We offer 11 self-catering cottages that can accommodate between two and six guests. Our self-catering cottages are equipped with bed linen and towels, fireplaces and heaters, crockery and cutlery, a fridge, stove topped oven and microwave, kettle and toaster. Each cottage features an outside barbecue facility and a TV with DSTV Hotel channels.
Guests can enjoy our 3 cascading bass filling dams, forest with trails, open spaces for the children to play and ride their bikes, have fun at the playground on swings, trampolines, slide, zip line, tyre tower and swimming pool.
