60 guests' feedbackWe had a very nice stay. Service is excellent and the food was out of the books. Carefree weekend spent here with the most beautiful of views. 10/10 for Berghouse and Cottages.
Absolutely fantastic! The cottage itself is very nice, comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is close to great hikes.
We only stayed 1 night, but if I had to stay longer the cottage was too small. Everything spotless and the view unbeatable. We slept warm and it was a freezing cold night.
Location is everything. The views of the mountains are amazing. I live for sunsets so the Berghouse is just a perfect spot.
Nice, friendly and on time. Always want to help.
Beautiful location and view! Most beautiful decor, delicious food with good service. We also had fun swimming and going for a walk. A big treat indeed!
Stayed for 3 nights and the views of the Berg are awesome. Accommodation is exactly as advertised and extremely clean and tidy. Did the Otter trail hike on the property down to the Tugela river which is great for getting your feet in the water before hiking back up to the cottages. Would definitely recommend Berghouse and Cottages.
Very friendly reception, nice views. And fantastic atmosphere.
Neat and beautiful. Very good value for money.
The location is amazing and the accommodation was neat and clean. The breakfast was a bit expensive, but the quality was great and at the end of the day we were glad we ordered the breakfast.
Nice break from the city to just recharge batteries.
Worked really well as beautifully appointed cottage. Amazing view.
Enjoyed it. Will be back soon. Relaxing and clean.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Friendliness of the staff will always keep you coming back. Best view, quiet and peaceful and the walking, running routes are wonderful. Remember the fishing rods, managed to catch some nice black bass and blue cheek sunfish.
What an absolute gem of a place. We loved every second. The food was amazing and the staff so friendly and helpful. The views of the Amphitheater are amazing! We will definitely be back very soon!
Wonderful! If we can move in there we will! Fun detail, great place to stay. Beautiful location. Already booked again.
Had a great time and enjoyed watching birds.
Phinda Suite 7 is about the size of a double garage. The photos definitely make the space look a little bigger than it is. The indoor fireplace and view from the porch was beautiful. The kitchen space is just really neat and there is no braai. The unit does have a 1-plate induction stove (although the description says no stove facilities), which we used quite a bit.
The place is breathtakingly beautiful but the food prices are ridiculous. R150. 00 for a breakfast.
Great accommodations for a comfortable stay for 10 people.
Although it rained most of the time since our arrival, we really enjoyed the two nights. When the clouds lifted on the morning of our departure, one could only really appreciate the beautiful surroundings and we were sorry to leave! Will definitely visit B&C again if we need to "detox" a bit from the hustle and bustle of life.
Very good service, friendly staff and nice breakfast.
We only spent one night there. Beautiful view. Comfortable beds. Lots of personal touches that makes the unit easy to live in. Would definitely stay here again.
Berghouse was perfect for us. Everything was spotless and well cared for. The house is beautiful and well equipped. The view is breathtakingly beautiful. The environment was quiet and peaceful. Staff friendly. We couldn't ask for anything more.
A wonderful, affordable and well positioned beautiful place. The pool view and views of the amphitheatre are exceptional and cannot be missed, I cannot imagine a better place for sundowners. Royal Natal Park is almost as close as you can get with breathtaking scenery. The food was excellent and served in the comfort of your cottage. Maximal relaxation.
I thought I booked a house by the edge overlooking the valley below the hill, but to my surprise, this was not a problem as the pen to the miniature horses was in front of us and it was fascinating to watch them the whole day. Apart from that the scenery of the establishment was amazing. There are hiking trails there as well just outside the gate. There is one thing I recommend others to bring along is their own wood (hardwood) they did provide a bundle of wood on the house during my stay but it's more for a fireplace only really which was awesome by the way.
Cottage is well equipped and clean. Everything we needed was there and in a great location. Cottage 1 is ideal for a group of friends or family.
Shockingly beautiful environment and management does a lot to keep the place neat and clean.
Really enjoyed our 2 night stay. The cottage was good for 2 guests. Very peaceful.
Wonderful stay in a beautiful environment. Impeccably clean and neat furnishings and friendly staff.
Really enjoyed the break, really special. The staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.
On a farm, so many textures and photo opportunities, miniature horses are too cute. Swimming pool is something special. A bit uneven for old people. No high fences, but we felt safe. If I can make a recommendation: a little better task lighting in the kitchen would help a lot. Beautifully clean and peaceful for your soul.
Our house was clean and beautiful and the setting and views are excellent. We just struggled with the hot water in the one bathroom but did report it to reception.
Great place, absolutely stunning views. Worth a trip out there.
We had a good time! We stayed in Thula Thula Cottage 9. It was neat, clean and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner were tasty. The top things for us were the view and the nice fireplace - so romantic.
Although the last section to the lodge is a dirt road, any vehicle can make it in time. If you are looking for silence then you go to Berghouse and Cottages. If you are looking for four seasons in one day it is also here. Yet every experience is a memory. Definitely nice.
Experience of specific unit very disappointing.
Very clean and well equipped cottages. Amazing views. Very relaxing.
Cottage no. 1 was perfect for our 2 families. Very nice layout in the unit with a beautiful view of the amphitheater. Large table outside with lovely play areas for the children. Kitchen worked wonderfully and we ate like kings. Will definitely come back to this gem of a place.
We had the most comfortable and wonderful stay in Thamela Cottage nr 1. The cottage inside was spotless and catered for far more than we expected. Words cannot describe the peace an quiet there. Whether going on adventures or simply to rest and relax, they have it all. The entire retreat is stunning, all the unique cottages, horse camps, view points and the rock pool took our breath away. We will most definitely stay there again. Grateful hearts from Rustenburg and Hibberdene.
We had a great time. Will go again.
Thank you Vaughn for a great stay - just what we needed to recoup as a family!
Unbelievable views. Outstanding cottage. Just perfect. Will definitely go back. Everyone in my group loved it.
Definitely a place we will go back to. Very nice clean and unique. Truly value for money!
Our accommodation was really nice. The atmosphere in the room as well as the area was top-notch. Peaceful soul that would recharge anyone. I can definitely recommend it to anyone in need of a peacefu place to recharge.
Warm reception. Clean and tidy accommodation. Stunning view, nice warm bed, got a good night's rest. Thank you very much. It was a wonderful getaway.
The Berghouse is located in a breathtaking part of the Bergville area. If you are interested in nature and lovely views on the Drakensberg, you have to spend the night here. The accommodation was outstanding and very comfortable. Lovely fireplace in the rondawel keeping the winter cold at bay. Spoil yourself and visit Berghouse. Vaughn is a wonderful host.
The place is well located, very original, everything nice and clean. The people were friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant stay.
The place is full of flies. There is no airconditioning and the fans are totally inadequate. Tap water discoloured and unpleasant, have to go to main house everytime to get clear, fresh supply. Likewise, WiFi only available at reception. Crockery missing and tin opener hasn't worked for years. Of course the unusual heat wave made for more discomfort. Don't forget clothing or anything there - the owners response: "We do not post things on"
Berghouse and Cottages was on my list to visit. Been there and wish I could go again soon. Forget about the city and busy life. Go and relax with the most beautiful view of the Drakensberg. Amenities are top quality and there is plenty to keep everyone busy.
The lighting in the kitchen is poor. One can't see anything when washing dishes at night. And the note on the fridge warning that you must leave everything as you found it or you will pay R150 put me off a bit. One goes on vacation not to worry about making beds and washing dishes, to get away from daily chores. Someone did come to clean, but just like upstairs. I went through the dishes we didn't use and they weren't very clean.
Cosy, but simple cottage with great views. The cottages are situated on a hill in front of the Amfitheather. We spent two whole days on the hill hiking and horse riding. Very relaxed. Great for kids as they can feed the horses. Owners are very kind.
The Berghouse and Cottages is a fantastic place to stay. The cottages are so cute with everything you could need and the food is spectacular!
We had a great weekend at Berghouse and Cottages. The room was very cozy with cute furniture. We really enjoyed our evenings on the little terrace with view on the mountains, braai (barbecue) and even a little fire that we made with the wood that was provided. Only thing that could be improved: the fridge is tiny :) But it wasn't a big problem, I would always recommend theis place!nnThank you very much!
We arrived when the weather was bad, and happily lit the fire in the fireplace, and enjoyed the provided sherry while relaxing by the fire and listening to the thunder. The morning after we saw the amazing view from our room. Really special.
A peaceful, breathtaking view!
See the stars below.
Reception was friendly. The house is beautiful, but the living room is very small and full of furniture. Kitchen equipment was not sufficient. We had a nice barbecue and sat on the stoep (with a beautiful view of the amphitheater). Minus point: we Dutch like to sit on the stoep. The chairs are not nice for relaxing. Plus point: the owner has made a viewpoint on top of the hill. Here you can relax, enjoy the view with a glass of wine in your hand. (return of foreign gas)
Maintenance is definitely not up to standard. There were several light bulbs that did not work. It rained a lot during our stay, so we could see where the roof was leaking in the living room ─ also near electrical wall plugs. The microwave oven is not in good working order. The WiFi we are talking about is available just under the oak tree at the reception! During our stay, the third night, a water pipe burst in one room's roof/ceiling. My son had to use buckets and bowls to catch the water... The bedding and the floor were soaking wet. If we had more persons in the house, it would have been a good mess. The next day he moved to another room. The double bed in the middle room is of poor quality. I hope others have had better experiences. Would not recommend it.
We enjoyed a short but relaxing stay. Beautiful surroundings, well appointed, comfortable accommodation and great hosts. We will be back.
